and he ran out of the building. >> two women were killed, one believed to be the suspect's ex-wife. >> she said there's been a shooting. as i stated before, i couldn't make out what she was saying because she was distraught. i'm not sure exactly sure if it happened in front of her or whatever the case may be. >> two capital police officers were also shot but wearing bullet proof vests and are expected to survive. the suspect was discovered dead at the scene. >> we're investigating whether that was the result of the exchange of gunfire or a self-inflicted wound. >> police searched all the floors of the building to make sure there wasn't another gunman on scene. >> i have talked to them several times. they were moved to jury services and searched. my judge's secretary was es

courted out of the building by the swat member. >> reporter: now the shooting comes on the same day that wilmington's police chief was supposed to attend a round table meeting on gun safety with vice president joe biden. >> thank you. police aren't release ing ing details on the identities of the victims. the manhunt for an accused cop killer continues in reporter: good afternoon california -- in california. >> 600 tips have come in since the lapd offered a $1 million reward for former officer christopher dorner. >> we have hundreds of detectives and investigators that are working on every clue. >> dorner's whereabouts remains a mystery. >> officers came out here, surrounded the lows, locked it down. >> agents are stopping

everything car crossing the mexican border. dorner's burned up pick up was found last week. two dozen officers continue to search homes and cabins. >> they opened all the doors and looked in places a person could be. >> investigators have been on dorner's trail since the killing of a police captain's daughter. he's also accused of killing a river side officer on thursday. >> the largest manhunt has the department spread thin. thousands of officers are searching for dorner as they also try to protect their own. >> dorner vowed to shoot police officers and their families as revenge for his firing from the lapd 5 years ago. >> to have your family targeted because they're related to you that is absolutely terrifying. >> authorities are providing around the clock protection for 50 officers and their families. >> the lapd says the money for

the $1 million reward is not just from police organizations corporations and private donors contributed. a man is charged with murder after he killed a woman and set her house on fire. denise is live with more. >> reporter: police found the body of 32-year-old jennifer conyers in the basement after putting out the fire. monte carter was arrested over the weekend. conyers was beaten to death. she was bound with electrical cords and dragged to the basement. when carter was arrested police say they found blood from the victim on his clothing. police say carter used the victim's atm card several times to buy cigarettes and other items. >> thank you. police say the victim and the suspect did know each other. crime is just one of topics being covered by major stephanie rawlings blake in her annual state of the city address. the mayor says the economy and money issues remain the biggest problem for the city to deal

welcome back. we had that rain this morning. that is gone. we are going to start off with the doppler. it has moved off to new england where all that snow fell over the weekend. now some rain and ice on top of that snow. for us, here's how it looked when it moved through. clouds broke up in western starts of the state this

afternoon. not so much over baltimore. we had the south western wind bringing in warmer air. a wind advisory is going to go into effect over night. not quite the level of friday night into saturday morning. wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour out west. 30 miles per hour for the rest of us. this is the warmth it's bringing. 60 in cumberland. it's been a battle, but up to 50 degrees right now in baltimore. that's about 8 degrees above where we were yesterday. where it's at 60, it's 20 degrees warmer. we did top out so far today at 52 degrees. you can see the average is 44. we're way above average. we're not going to hang onto this warm for very long.

here's that massive storm. on the northern side there was a blizzard over the plains. for us, just some rain in between and that's now gone. sunshine return tomorrow and when it's down to our south it's going to form a new low. this is a very interesting set up. cold air will be in place and it will be over night starting wednesday continuing into the over night hours. we could see a winter mess around here. this is not a massive storm. for us a rain, snow, sleet mix is possible. that will start on wednesday and continue to the early morning hours of thursday before this will get out of here. we have a bigger storm coming in and still a lot of details to work out with that one but we'll keep you updated. small craft advisory in effect through tuesday. the forecast for tonight that wind coming in but it will present some

police are canvassing her neighborhood passing out fliers of a description of the suspect. >> thank you. neighbors say there have been several recent home break ins but police won't say if robbery is what led to the woman's murder. a deadly accident involving a car and school bus in carroll county. it happened just before 7:00 this morning. the driver of a ford focus lost control around a sharp turn and slammed into a school bus. 24-year-old devon spence of westminster died at the scene. there were five students on the bus but they were not hurt. a drift at sea. right now more than 4,200 passengers and crew on a carnival cruise ship are stranded after fire crippled the ship in the gulf of mexico. the coast guard is being called in to tow the ship. more on the situation. >> when the 3,143 vacationers

boarded on thursday they thought they would be home monld. monday. a fire in the -- monday. a fire knocked out the ship. it's not drifting in the gulf of mexico, nearly 500 miles from galveston. bethany and a bunch of girlfriends are on the ship. her husband said he had no idea there was a problem for 7 hours after the fire. >> carnival called me to tell me that there was a problem that there was a fire in the engine room and that the fire was uncontained and everything was all okay. >> the ship has no cell phone service and bethany couldn't call until another carnival ship pulled up alongside the trifrm. >> she was crying saying they had no power no running water no way to use the bathroom. >> in a news release carnival

says it will be towed the mexico and from there it will arrange travel home for its passengers. all of the passengers on board will get refunds and transportation expenses. >> if they would tell you the truth it would not be so bad. >> now the vessel next to departure scheduled this week have been canceled. those on those trips will get full refunds an discounts towards future cruises. gas prices in maryland and across the nation continue the rise. gas prices jumped nearly a quarter per gallon. nationally the average is $3.59 a gallon. here in maryland we're paying a bit more than that. $3.60 for a gallon. last month we were paying $3.42.
