2 days after the tornado tore through their town the people of moore, oklahoma are returning to their neighborhood to assess the damage and clean up as a search for survivors wraps up. edward lawrence is live in moore with the latest for wjz. >> reporter: residents started to clean up the damage. now the focus turns on getting the survivors the help they need. >> judy odom started cleaning up debris at her tornado-damaged home. her house took a bad hit but it's not a hoe tal loss. >> the roof is damaged. like i said, i've live lived here 40 years. what do you do? >> the tornado damaged or destroyed about 5,000 homes in moore. the house next door was not touched. >> the damage from the tornado was random. in this neighborhood it uprooted huge trees. just feet away it left a flower arrangement untouched. >> 7 children were killed at

plaza tower elementary. the two schools hit did not have storm shelters. the tornado claimed 24 lives and injured more than 300 people. authorities now believe everyone in town is accounted for. homeland security secretary is visiting the area today. the head of the federal emergency management agency said they're making sure victims get everything they need for their recovery. >> reporter: the medical examiner released new information about the victims who died. 15 were female, 9 were male, 10 of those were children. most of them died from blunt force trauma. they're as young as 4 years old or as old as 65. reporting in moore, oklahoma, edward lawrence. back to you. >> thank you. the red cross remains on the scene in oklahoma helping in so many ways. if you would like to help, here are the ways you can, go to redcross.org or call 800-red-cross. stay with wjz and cbs for the latest on the storms, the recovery and

people getting involved. we're following breaking news right now in baltimore city. sky chopper 13 is over a pedestrian accident on i-295. captain jeff joining us now. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, about 10:19 this morning baltimore city police received the call, a pedestrian struck on 295 southbound just south of monroe. medics arrived. one person was transported to a local hospital. we do not have any information right now on that person's condition. what we can tell you, this is at the west port exit. traffic is being held up right now because they're continuing the investigation. the vehicle is still on scene. bwi taxi. reporting live from sky chopper 13, i'm captain jeff long. >> thanks a lot. we will continue to follow this story and bring you more information as soon as it becomes available. new developments this noon at boston marathon bombing investigation. ron matz is in the news room with the latest.

good afternoon, ron. >> reporter: good afternoon. a man fatally shot over night by the fbi in orlando, florida may have ties to one of the accused boston marathon bombers. the suspect has been identified as ibgragim todashev. investigators say the fbi shot him in self-defense in an incident at todashev's home. todashev was from the region as tamerlan and dzhokhar tsarnaev. >> the man in orlando was arrested earlier this month. . five people are dead and six injuries after their church van crashes on an illinois highway. all five who died are from baltimore city. rochelle richie is live with more on this accident. good afternoon. intl >> reporter: good >> reporter: good afternoon. a very tragic story come ing out of illinois with ties to baltimore and police say the driver of that van that overturned should have never been behind the wheel. >> a white van with smashed

windows and a twisted frame sits just off of interstate 70 after spinning out of control and over turning. 11 people were on board, 6 injured while 5 men, all from baltimore were killed. those victims 54 emerson baldwin, 53 an drew canada, 42, anthony mitch chal, 52 mark william and 29 tom mast coalman. >> we had four patients arrive at the hospital after a van roll over. three patients were transferred in fair condition, one to st. louis hospital, two to springfield hospital and one here at fayette county hospital. >> police say the driver who survived had a suspended license. the group was returning from a religion event in california. illinois state police say the van left the road and repeatedly flipped over. 9 people were ejected. >> reporter: that driver not only received a ticket for driving on a suspended license but also improper lane change.

we're live this afternoon, rochelle richie, wjz eyewitness news. >> investigators are still trying to determine why the vehicle ran off the road. an alleged smuggling operation is shut down this noon in harford county. more than a dozen people are now facing charges. the harford county drug task force seized 140 pounds of marijuana, 20 guns and over $140,000 in cash. the arrests follow a 2-year undercover investigation by the task force. investigators say the drugs were coming in from california. a total of 15 people are now under arrest. it has been 12 days since the story broke about the irs scandal. today congress is hoping to get answers from the woman in charge of the agents at the center of that probe. >> the irs official who first apologized for her agency targeting conservative group social security not answering questions about it. >> i've decided to follow my counsel's advice and not testify or answer any of the questions today.

>> lois learner invoked her 5th amendment right not to incriminate herself. she read a brief statement before she was dismissed. >> i have not done anything wrong. >> in a letter to congress learner's attorney said she would not be testifying because of the fbi investigation. >> she waived her right by issues an opening statement. she aught to stand here and answer our questions. >> lawmakers are out raged learner founded out agents were using inappropriate criteria but did not inform her superiors. >> of course i am disappointed that we will not be able to ask her questions today. i believe that she should shed much light on what we're trying to find, the truth. >> today the number two at the treasury worked to distance his department from scandal.

welcome back. it's warm out there. this is going to be our warmest day of the week. right now we're at 81 degrees in baltimore, 77 easton with a dew point around 70 degrees. now, these winds are coming out of the south. they're marching all of that warm air up into our neighborhood. around 6 miles an hour in baltimore and 9 in washington. here's the big picture of what's going on for sat riteellite and radar. this is going to impact your weather into thursday but not until then. we have the chance for some scattered shower activity though associated with the troft of low pressure as we move into the afternoon today. we have unstable air in the upper part of the atmosphere. if we warm up enough we'll be able to tap into that energy and produce possible thunderstorms this afternoon. low pressure moving off to the east will bring us

in today's wjz health watch children's iq's could be related to what their mother's eat during pregnancy. most did not get enough iodine which comes from sea foods and dairy products and their children had lower scores on iq and reading tests.
