good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, there is no joy in mudville or anywhere else they're playing baseball this morning. major league baseball will look to suspend some of the game's biggest stars who are allegedly connected to a florida clinic suspected in a doping scandal. espn reports at least 20 are involved. the clinic's founder has agreed to testify, name names, and provide incriminating records. among those allegedly linked to the clinic are alex rodriguez and ryan braun. susan mcginnis is in washington. susan, good morning. >> anne-marie, good morning. yeah, the man who ran that clinic, tony bosch, will reportedly give up a lot of names to investigators within days. some of the biggest names in baseball, and he'll give details. for example, bosch would get late night text messages telling him to go to a-rod's home where he would inject him with performance-enhancing drugs. once he talks to investigators,

the suspension could come down within weeks. some of baseball's biggest stars, including alex rodriguez and ryan braun, could be suspended for 100 games for using performance-enhancing drugs, according to espn. new york yankees' manager joe girardi worries about the scandal of america's pastime. >> i worry about baseball being affected, the game as a whole thing and what it's been through the last 15 years, and that's my concern. >> espn tells it that the owner of the miami anti-aging clinic tony bosch has agreed to talk with the investigators and give them the dirt on the players. the league first became aware of bosch's name last summer and his list includes 20 players including washington national's pitcher gio gonzalez. >> and he hits that one high and deep to left.

how far will this one go? oh, my goodness. >> milwaukee brewer ryan braun has said in the past his name appears because he hired bosch as a consultant during his appeal of a 2011 positive test of performance-enhancing drugs. >> i don't know the specifics. i've already addressed it. >> fans at last night's game says he hasn't come clean. >> he lied. he lied to every brewer's fan out here. he lied. >> some of brewers' youngest baseball fans don't want to believe it. >> it would kind of make me upset. >> major league baseball won't comment on the report. now, all of the players named in those records of the clinic obtained by espn denied using performance-enhancing drugs. anne-marie? >> susan mcginnis is in washington. thank you, susan. well, today the house armed services committee will consider several senate proposals on the to change the way the military handles the cases of military sexual assault.

yesterday they were taken to task by lawmakers over the issue, but the military's top brass say they don't want to give up their authority on the matter. david martin reports. >> reporter: with one exception, the senior officers who marched into the senior committee room were all men, and they all objected to legislation to take the decision to prosecute sexual assault away from commanders in the field, but committee members, including seven women, were ready to take them on. >> not every single commander can distinguish between a slap on the ass and a rape. >> reporter: senator kiersten jill brandt was referring to the sexual assault cases that left two thirds of the victims feeling like they were being retaliated against. >> you have lost the trust on the men and women who rely on you, that you will actually bring justice in these cases. they're afraid to report. they think their careers will be over. >> reporter: one of the most controversial cases is that of lieutenant colonel james wilkerson, convicted by a military jury of molesting a female guest in his home.

he was kicked out of the air force and sentenced to prison, but his general, general franklin, threw out the verdict, using a line that incensed senator mccaskill. >> it was astoundingly ignorant. he opened it that she didn't get a ride home when she had a chance. are you fricking kidding me? >> reporter: wilkerson remains in the air force but is now under investigation in an unrelated case for fathering a child out of wedlock. it was admitted they're playing catchup on military sexual assault. >> we failed in this in the past. it has not been a top priority in the years past, the decades past. if it was, we wouldn't be here today. >> reporter: and joint chiefs chairman general martin dempsey says that included him. >> frankly i'll speak for myself. i took my eye off the ball a

little bit. >> reporter: the military chiefs insist that this time they really mean it. zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, but several members say you can't change the culture without first changing the system. david martin, cbs news, the pentagon. a treasury department report spells out some high end living by the employees of the internal revenue service. the excessive spending includes a conference that cost more than $4 million. meanwhile conservative groups testified what it was like when the agency singled them out for extra scrutiny. danielle nottingham reports. >> reporter: these six leaders of conservative groups say the irs unfairly signaling them out for their political beliefs. >> this was not an accident. this is a willful act of intimidation. >> reporter: becky gerritson testified the irs ignored her application for tax exemption for more than a year and then asked her alabama tea party group for all copies of

emailed speeches and donor list. >> i'm a born-free american woman, wife, mother, and citizen, and i'm telling my government that you've forgotten your place. >> reporter: attorney john eastman claimed the irs committed a felony when it released information about his group's donors who opposed same-sex marriage. >> there's a reason some people want to have their activities confidential so that they don't get harassed. >> reporter: several lawmakers on the panel were equally outraged. >> no american should be targeted by the government for their personal views. >> reporter: and the irs is facing cleanup from another scandal. this brand-new inspector general's report details how the agency used taxpayer dollars on lavish employee conferences. >> it suggests to me that we have an organization, a very powerful organization that feels that it's above the law. >> reporter: lawmakers say they plan to continue their investigation in a transparent way so the irs can work to regain the public trust. danielle nottingham, cbs news, capitol hill.

yesterday, while the nasdaq shed 20 points. >> the housing market is turning red hot with prices soaring 12% in april, the biggest leap in seven years. real estate data provider core logic found the biggest gain in nevada where prices are up 25%. the u.s. banned imports of apple's iphone 4 after ruling the popular smartphone violates a patent owned by rival samsung. the iphone 4 is assembled in china, which means the import ban means apple won't be able to sell more of the devices in the u.s. introduced in 2010, it is the oldest iteration of the device still being made. apple can appeal, and president obama can invalidate the order. and today an fda advisory committee begins a new review of a former blockbuster diabetes drug, deciding whether safety restrictions placed on it in 2010 are too harsh. the fda is taking another look at avandia's heart attack risk

for a 10-year-old pennsylvania girl in need of a lung transplant. with so few pediatric lungs available, sarah murnaghan's family has appealed to the government. to suspend a rule that bars children under the age of 12 from joining a waiting list for adult lungs. but on tuesday, health and human services secretary kathleen sebelius said she will not intervene. >> reporter: sarah murnaghan is on a ventilator in children's hospital in philadelphia. the 10-year-old is at the end stages of sis stick fibrosis and is in desperate need of a lung trant plant. her family says sarah doesn't have much time left. >> her doctors told us they thought we had weeks, not months. >> reporter: sarah has been on an organ transplant list for 18 months. she's at the top of the list, but with few pediatric lung donors, sarah's parents urged the government to change the a rule barring children younger than 12 from being on an adult transplant list.
