the newest problem. >> reporter: earlier this week a corrections officer was stabbed several times by an inmate. he later learned prison officials knew he was being targeted but never told him. corrections officers in western maryland rallied for resignation of top prison officials. they say security leaders knew about a threat against two officers but never told them. monday, one of the officers was stabbed in the rib, head and arms by an inmate serving life. it was the 15th attack in just 30 days. >> you just have a lot of bad dreams you don't realize how hard it hits you until after it is said and done. >> reporter: the inmate made the threat in a letter to a prison official. when i say move my men move remove these two officers or i will take action in my own hands, with body harm on those two officers.

the department of public safety said the mission is to protect safety of the public our employeethe inmate. officers safety should never be compromised. they are taking the threat letter investigation seriously. baltimore city has its own prison problem with state leaders already under fire for failures in the system. this week, a black guerilla family member, pled guilty to running a sophisticated drug ring from behind bars. corrections officers are asking five prison officials to resign. vick back to you. >> thank you the other assaults on officers ended with them suffering only minor injuries. well t johns hopkins school of medicine is stepping up security after a series of attacks on campus. there have been three different incidents in the last month one person had their cell phone stolen another robbed and the third was assaulted. the school is adding more

patrols in the area s stepping up security outside of student apartments. at least four possibly as many as six people are dead in connecticut after a small plane crashed into a neighbourhood. new late breaking information from investigators for wjz. >> reporter: it could take days before investigators are able to sift through what is left of a twin engine airplane which crashed into this east haven connecticut neighbourhood. >> the plane struck two houses one house was struck more severely and part of the plane is in the basement. >> reporter: at least four people were killed including the pilot. officials won't have a confirmed number of fatalities until they can access all parts of the wreckage. >> two or three in the house and two or three in the airplane we haven't confirmed that. >> reporter: among those feared dead two boys ages is and 13 living in -- ages 1 and 13 living in one of the homes. >> the mother is dave tated,

the store owner called it a classic misunderstanding. the handbag cost $38,000. according to forbes she made $77 million just last year. a medical milestone for one of the first heart transplant recipients from johns hopkins. he has lived 30 years with the donor heart. >> reporter: at 28 battling a serious heart condition, he was fighting to live. >> when i was first told that i was going to need a heart transplant that was very scary especially at that time, you know, heart transplants, weren't being done. >> reporter: in 1983 a team of hopkins doctors put the heart of a 16-year-old girl killed in an accident into his chest. he was their second transplant patient. >> we knew it would work but we didn't know how well it would work. >> reporter: the procedure was more risky and complicated doctors giving him a 50% chance
