the police radio a fiery crash on york road kills three people early tuesday. police admit undercover officers were following a sedan with two suspects inside right before the crash happened. police stopped short of calling it a chase. the police commissioner spoke out about the crash for the first time yesterday. >> there are some issues i have concern with overall with the incident that took place out there. kind of disturbing. >> >> reporter: sources tell "wjz" prior to the crash, there were multiple radio transmissions to the officers ordering them to end the pursuit. the department's pursuit policy only allows the chase under strict circumstance. three people died in the crash. angela reeves father the only survivor. he remains in critical condition. >> three people gone, lost their lives because of the police. i'm blaming the police. >> reporter: the passenger in angel's car died in the crash. sister said their family wants

maryland state line. >> one of the reasons traffic started to slow down. tractor-trailer was unable to stop, running into another vehicle, causing a 10 car fileup. >> reporter: four tractor- trailers, one tow truck -- the driver of the tow truck -- sunshine >> all of a truck -- sunshine >> i was pushed forward, the truck flipped over and it stopped. i was shocked and amazed no one got killed. >> the pileup created numbers of delays for thousands that use this highway to commute between maryland and southern pennsylvania. >> >> it took nearly seven hours to clear all of the debris from the highway. police investigators looking into what went wrong. >> tractor-trailer that rear- ended the vehicle was the initial cause of the crash. at this point, you have to look

"wjz" is live, kristi explains what it's doing and kristi, can you see it overhead or has it gone down? >> i think it might be hiding in some of the clouds. i have not seen it as of late, but i did see it earlier today. we confirmed the navy is conducting aerial mapping over the city of baltimore. it has caught the eye of many residents below. if you are looked up lately, you may have spotted there hiding in the clouds or over baltimore's harbor. >> i have been seeing it all week. >> a u.s. navy blimp almost 200 feet long is flying over baltimore. >> me and my friends were talking about it, wondering what it was. >> i was coming down 95 and i wondered. >> the blimp is a government research conducking area mapping and the lighter than air blimp began to roam above the dc area and can remain stationary for 12 hours.

>> the blimp is around washington, d.c , including places like the department of agriculture and some of our major airports, like here at -- . >> usually when they have a football game, good year, met life and all to have that, but this one was way high. >> the blimp won't be up for much longer, after october 5th, the research lab said it is flying away. when the mission is complete, pilots will fly the blimp up north to a base in new jersey. >> now, we know what is going on out there. thank you. >> >> for now, the blimp is based at the navy air station.

if you are waiting for someone to get home from work, let's check on the roads with kristi at "wjz" traffic control. i know we have a few issues around. kristi? >> yes, we have just gotten word the dam has reopened. all lanes are moving northbound and southbound. there are still a couple of delays along route 1 backing things up. >> >> as far as the harrisburg expressway, nothing like yesterday, but there is a delay northbound. northbound 95, heavy delay there is from 395 to mountain road, average speed, 40-miles an hour. top side of the inner loop, expect a solid half hour over to harper road and the west side of the inner loop creeping awrong from 295 past liberty. as far as 70 goes, westbound, slow traffic there as well from 29 to merriesville road. a couple of accidents in harper county, route 22 at paradise,

political reporter, pat warren is there. she sat down and knows the struggles of furloughs. >> >> hi, kai, you are absolutely right, there are 300 thousand maryland workers who are worried about what might happen if the government furloughs them, that family includes the people that live in the house mind me. >> >> reporter: these three know more than you might expect about the government budget. >> i think the government is lear to help, not to hurt. >> reporter: their dad has been furloughed once before. >> this summer, when they had the furloughs starting in july, i was furloughs and it was typically difficult for me, because in april, i had emergency open heart sergry and i had a lot of medical bills and time off from that and the furlough hit and basically, i was living off credit cards to be able to make ends meet.

funeral planned for tomorrow at the church. he was one of 12 people gunned down by gunman aaron alech is during a shooting rampage at the washington navy yard. he was a former maryland state trooper and worked for the state police back to you. >> >> he is survived by three daughters, a permanent memorial it going up in a park in the westminster community to honor his life. >> >> pilot of a plane had a heart attack and despite heroic efforts to save him, he died. >> a crisis in the air on thursday for united airlines flight 1603. a spokes woman said the boeing 737 left houston, headed for seattle. shortly after takeoff, the crew asked if there was a doctor

after five months of testimony, jurors in the michael jackson wrongful death trial are deliberating the case. the family is suing aeg live, claiming that the company that promoted his tour is responsible for his death. michael jackson never got the chance to perform what was supposed to be his ultimate comeback tour in 2009. he died of an overdose of propofol administered by dr. conrad murray. in 2011 are, murrays with

steel in mumbai. a dazed child was among the survivors after the five story building crashed down in the early morning. neighbors said more than 100 people lived here. as many as eight people in each of the one room apartments. they have said most were likely home at the time of the collapse. many are feared trapped under the rubble. it's the fifth deadly building collapse around india's capital. the results of decades inspections. in june, two more collapses killed nearly two people. in the latest disaster, terrified family members are watching and waiting, hoping their loved ones are among the survivors. in new york.
