would last no more than six weeks or eight weeks. it is designed to buy time. >> you could end up back at the same place and we do not want to be there. >> saturday, the senate is scheduled to vote on a longer- term debt ceiling measure that would carry the nation beyond the 2014 election. that brings us to our next story. if congress fails to pass the measure saturday, what impact could it have on the state of maryland? don is live with more. debt ceiling is equivalent to you or i maxing out on her credit card and calling asking for a limit increase. wall street is watching what happens closely on just the news of a possible debt deal today, the markets rose 300 points. investors know the fault could spark a -- spark a frightening ripple effect. >> the president is not want to talk to request they do not get anything in exchange for holding the economy hostage.

erica brannock, the baltimore woman who survived the boston marathon bombings is playing a major role in the baltimore running festival this saturday. she is the official marathon starter, the first organized race she has attended since the april attack in boston. the towson preschool teacher is learning to walk again after having part of her left leg indicated. erica says she is leading by example. -- somethingfor that is scary for me, i will not run away from. i want them to learn from my example. you push forward and you do it and are a much better person for doing that. >> that is her next goal. she plans to participate in the november race. while she will be a test be in a wheelchair for most of it, she is working with her physical therapist to walk across the finish line. saturdayval starts morning at 5:00 a.m. and then

a flatbed loaded with pipes stalled on the tracks but the driver bailed before the truck was hit so no one was hurt. it did make a huge mess. the train pushed the truck more than a half-mile around the track. 100 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled. an interesting reason to leave police on a high-speed chase. he told the judge he ate something that upset his stomach and was racing to get to a bathroom. that excuse did not fly with the judge who pointed out he passed several outhouses as he led the trooper on a chase and at one point reached 111 miles an hour. that is some two-minute warning. the judge added the explanation was one of the worst stories he had ever heard. now, your 11 insta weather

plus forecast with tom tasselmyer. >> rainfall the past 24 hours has been impressive. it started on the coastal areas last night. it has been pushing steadily to the north and west. you have seen a lot of greens and yellows, indicating rainfall up to three inches in some spots. on the coast, it spread up to baltimore and then pushed back in parts of washington. some of the rainfall totals, in middletown in frederick county, approaching the 3.5" mark. well over two inches, in cecil county, not quite as much. it squeezed past in the south and missing the heart of cecil county. most locations had one, 2, 3 inches of rain. 2.28 now is the total at the airport. up to 3.19 total is inches. we have cut into the yearly deficit, approaching five inches.
