to shame them but because they are juveniles, should their faces and names be kept concealed? >> reporter: the hearten mom whose 12-year-old daughter was bullied to death. rebecca sedwick jumped to her death in tampa, florida. her family just moved to a new home to escape the painful memories of their old house and all her mother has left is a shelf filled with momentos that has become a shrine. >> this is five or six, and this is just a few months ago. >> reporter: she would have been 13 on saturday and her family plans a grave side birthday party. meanwhile, controversy has broken out. >> we have wonderful photographs of our two new felons. >> reporter: the pope county sheriff held up mugshots of the 12 and 14-year-old girls accused of bullying rebecca. juveniles are not normally

identified. cbs, nbc and abc chose not to identify them. fox news did. the sheriff is earning widespread praise for making the arrest after he saw a heartless facebook post about the suicide. >> the reason we rushed these arrests quicker than we wanted to is because of this post. yes, i bullied rebecca and she killed herself but i don't give a, and you can add the last word yourself. >> reporter: the 14-year-old denies any wrong doing and her parents claimed on "good morning america" that her computer must have been hacked. >> had you been told that she was a bully by the school? >> never once. >> reporter: cyber bullying expert told us what you can do to halt bullying. >> what can we do to protect our children from cyber bullies? >> we need to teach our young people to stop, block and tell if something disturbs them online. stop, and don't answer back,

block the person or message and tell a trusted adult. >> reporter: the sheriff says he hopes parents across america learn from this tragedy. >> watch what your children do online. pay attention. >> deborah: hers is one of at least 20 suicides attributed to at least in part cyber bullying. and now the army ranger the entire nation has been talking about. he was awarded the purple heart after his legs were severely injured by a suicide bomber. and he managed a salute from the hospital bed to let everyone know he was okay. and now the family is speaking out, calling him a true hero. >> reporter: it's the salute seen around the world. and it brings new meaning to the words courage, loyalty and valor. his name is josh harget, an army ranger serving in afghanistan. a suicide bomber left him with severe injuries. the medal was placed on his

blanket while he layed in the icu unit unconscious. or was he? quote, despite wound, wrappings, tubes and pain, josh fought the doctor who was trying to restrain his arm and render the most beautiful salute any person in that room had ever seen. we were speakless at a gesture that speaks volumes about josh's courage d character. the morning show's marveled over the brave 24-year-old om cincinnati serving his fourth tour of duty from afghanistan. >> the commander said it was the single greatest event of his 10-year army career. >> josh and all their families overseas and back at home, complete and total thank you for your sacrifice and service. >> in essence what people need to remember about our military. >> reporter: the widow of a slain navy seal and american sniper author puts it in

perspective. >> saluting when he shouldn't have the strength or energy to do it. and that shows the mental fortitude of the people willing to fight for something greater then themselves. >> reporter: josh's wife is pregnant. she posted this proud message about the man who made the miracle salute. please continue to share josh's story. the world should know what true heroes and warriors are. >> he is a true hero. >> deborah: and what happened to phineas the dog? a lot of people are asking that question after the lab retriever that's been on death row since a 7-year-old girl was bitten disappeared. his owners believe the dog was murdered. here's the latest on the story. >> i want phineas to come home. >> reporter: 8-year-old lex see sanders is begging for the return of her beloved lab retriever phineas.

the dog was sentenced to dog death row for allegedly biting a friend of hers. supporters took to the streets calling for him to be freed. but now the case has taken a mysterious and potentially tragic turn. someone took phineas from where he was being held. that's right, someone broke into this vet chin and i can walked off with him. -- vet clinic and walked off with him. >> there's several people that made comments about wanting to harm him. they would like to put a bullet between his eyes. >> reporter: and as she searches the wood, phineas' lawyer agrees someone took the dog and killed him. >> i do not think he's okay. there have been so many threats against phineas that i fear the worst. >> reporter: while lexi is heart broken, jj took care of phineas for more than a year while he was on death row.

>> he has been here a longtime. and we were attached to him. so we are upset about it. >> reporter: the sheriff says there are no leads to so the search for the death row dog continues. >> phineas. phineas. >> deborah: phineas disappeared just a couple days before a scheduled hearing to decide if the death penalty should be reversed. and the look on oscar winner dustin hoffman's face, he is not acting. he actually did get quite a surprise at the la dodger's play-off game against the st. louis cardinals. and here is what had him so stunned. >> reporter: why does dustin hoffman look so confused? that's why, there's a dancing bear doing the split splits in front of him. it happened at cominger stadium. out of the blue, a fan in the bear suitjumped up on the dugout and started dancing. the home crowd including the veteran actor clearly loved the team spirit.

and they weren't so happy when security put an end to the antics. the bear was tossed from the game. he had been banned from the ball game for six months and dodger fans are up in arms. free the bear wrote one angry fan on twitter. we on with the bear. we want the bear back wrote another. whose the dude in the bear costume? >> hi, i'm the bear. >> reporter: his name is mark. he is the owner of an office furniture store and a huge dodgerrest fan. he says he meant no harm and hopes the dodgers reconsider. he wants them to hire them as his official mascot. >> they've never had one. and never had one like me. that was my awe kiss. >> reporter: we know one fan who wouldn't mind seeing more of the dancing bear. >> deborah: and speaking of mascots, the comedian just got dressed up as one as he became the real life music man leading a marching band. >> reporter: that's funny man

will ferrall leading the u.s. marching band. he returned dressed as the school's unofficial mascot, tommy trojan. he made the appearance the raise money for a charity that provides scholarships to cancer survivors. talk about going old school. the actresses is opening up about her stint in the psych ward. the former star of the oc tells people magazine, i had a full- on break down. four years ago, she was admitted to the psych ward after threatening to kill herself. barton tells people on stands friday, i was just overworked and depressed. these bikini clad bartenders serve up stiff drinks by night and by day, they pursue their dreams. they follow 10 loving girlfriends all wanting to make it big. >> all right. >> reporter: sebrina hopes to save enough money to return to

family's home was torched because they accused a popular football player of rape. and now another brave young woman is coming forward saying it happened to her too. >> reporter: a second girl is now coming forward to say she was sexually assaulted in a small town where football is king. >> i too knew that i had been sexually assaulted. >> reporter: page parker sat beside her friend daisy coleman and their moms. daisy is the cheerleader who says their family was run out of town and the home burned to the ground after she accused a high school football star of rape. page says she was raped by another student athlete. she saw daisy moments after the assaults were over. >> she was completely incoherent. she couldn't walk, couldn't talk. just was babbling like a baby. >> reporter: daisy says she was given something to drink and doesn't remember what happened next. but page says she remembers everything. telling us the athletes carried her friend to a car and drove

the girls back today single digits' house. >> they dropped her off in the yard. and told me to go inside, that it was going to be okay. sha she just needed to sober up. >> reporter: these two high school athletes were arrested for sexually assaulting the girl bus charges were dropped two months later. matthew barnett, the line backer accused of attacking daisy comes from a prominent political family. he is the grandson of rex barnett, once a member of the missouri house of representatives. the prosecutor says the charges were dropped because there was insufficient evidence and the girls refused to testify. >> that's absolutely not true. we were always willing to testify. >> reporter: the sheriff thinks it's time for daisy and page to move on with their lives. >> they truly want to heal and they truly want to move on, then they do need to get over this. >> reporter: the case is now sparking nationwide outrage. the lieutenant governor of missouri is calling for a grand

jury investigation saying the appalling facts in the public record shock the con science and cry out that responsible authorities must take another look. the hacker group anonymous is vowing to fight for daisy and page, just like it did in the other shocking rape case involving high school football prayers in ohio. >> two young girls have been raped in the town of maryville. >> reporter: the town of maryville, population 12,000 has locked itself under a tome of tight security, even shutting down the town's website. >> we've been in fact got some threats, both over the internet, email and as a community, we are stunned at the violent nature. >> reporter: the two teenagers and their moms say they're grateful the entire country is hearing their story. >> it's just incredible to feel that support when we never had that before. >> we've been waiting a very longtime. >> deborah: after two long weeks, it looks like the end of the federal government shutdown is in sight.

a resolution has been agreed upon and if lawmakers needed a quiet place to work things out, we have the place, a huge bunker built during the cold war where politicians would flee in at the vent of an emergency. we got a personal tour. >> reporter: we are taking you inside a top secret bunker where cameras are rarely allowed. >> this bunker was built to be built as an emergency relocation facility for congress. >> reporter: the bunker is located beneath a resort in west virginia. 250-miles from washington, d.c. it's a huge facility secretly built between 1958 and 1926 at the height of the cold war. hotel tour guide linda walls showed us around. >> if this had been local gossip for year, that there was something unusual at the greenbrier. >> reporter: the bunker was hidden behind a fold away wall. the get in, you have to go through this giant glass door. >> this door weighs 25-tons.

one of the stars of the hit show "buffy the vampire slayer" but now she is going public, revealing that she was once the victim of a violent crime. >> reporter: you mit think she has led a charmed life. >> i've got something you want. >> reporter: but she is also a victim of a nightmare crime. an ordeal she is reliving on a new tv show. >> i was caught in a real life drama. >> reporter: in 1991, she was 22 years old and working as a san diego chargers cheerleader. she and two friends were at the beach when she was attacked. >> i was derobing and i heard wrestling, i heard noises and it startled me. so i screamed. and he presented himself at that point with a hose over his face. >> reporter: the attacker was a serial rapist. >> i said, are you going to

rape me? and he said, you bet your sweet "a" i am. >> reporter: but before the rapist could carry out his evil plan, her two friends heard her scream and came running up the beach. both were shot and seriously wounded in the struggle. she fled for her life and got help. her attacker later turned out to be a cop. that's right, a rogue san diego police officer, henry hubbard jr. he pled guilty to raping eight women. and now she is reliving the ordeal as the host of surviving evil, a show on the cable channel investigation discovery which tells the stories of victims who fought back and survived against all odds. >> listen to your instincts. if you get a bad vibe, you're probably right. >> deborah: and when we come back, the teen enjoying his six seconds of fame.
