[applause] >> okay. la mar, tell me what happened. >> we were on vacation this past summer up in northern wisconsin and we decided to go swimming at the beach there. so becky had gone down earlier and had the inner tube so i swam out to a little pontoon area away from the pier. after a period of time, we decided to go in and grab a bite to eat and so i jumped in but instead of jumping, i belly flopped. i had thrown my inter tube and i lost my air. a boat had gone by, i was gu gulping water and i couldn't breathe. i was in a panic mode, trying to swim as best i could and it wasn't happening. i was petrified. >> so what were you thinking in the water? >> i could die right here.

and my wife was by the beach. my kids, my grandkids, our soon to be wedded daughter wasn't going to be in the picture any more because i would be gone. i was scared. >> where are you at the time, becky? >> i'm up close to the pier. >> are you watching this? >> yes. i was way too far away to even get there. and i didn't think that he was in quite as much trouble as he really was because he's invincible and he's a good swimmer and i didn't realize that he was going under. >> yeah. okay. so what happened? who saved you? >> well, i was trying to make my way -- turning around and going back to the beach and was trying to swim backwards and wasn't having much luck at that. i tried out help, help a couple of times and all of a sudden, there were four hands that kind of reached underneath my back and my arms and my shoulders and they kind of lifted me up because i was in waterway over my head and they pulled me

towards the shore until i could stand up. those two young ladies saved my life. >> wow. [applause] >> so la mar, let me ask you. so what happened after you got out the water? >> we stayed there for a few minutes and just trying to regain my composure, i guess, for lack of a better term. >> so these were two little girls. >> twin 15-year-old young ladies and i called them my angels of mercy.
