degrees chillier than this time yesterday. sun is going out many force. it's going to be a beautiful fall day. at lunch 64 on its way to a high of 66 degrees. don, take it away. >> thank you. your rush right now from sharon gibala at wjz traffic control. >> good morning, everyone. if you are just about to head out we are still problem-free on the roads. speeds at 55 on the beltway, top and west side. no problems still on 95 either. that's a look at the topside of the beltway at harford road and a look at the west side. it's getting busier there. that's the outer loop coming towards us at exit 17. now wjz has the stories people are talking about this morning. here's don. >> thank you. the president will be hosting a health care event at the white house today at which time he's expected to address the lingering issue with the programs website. susan mcginnis reports for wjz. >> president obama is expected to call problems with the government's affordable care act website inexcusable. >> the huge out pouring of interest shows how important it is we get this right.

there's no one more frustrated than the president at the difficulty in the website. >> republicans call it a fee fiasco. >> bring smart people back to washington an fix this problem. it's ridiculous. >> an administration official tells cbs news they're bringing in more help from tech experts inside and outside the government. they're writing new code to fix some of the glitches and expanding capacity to meet demand. more than 19 million people have visited the website since the launch october 1st. >> the number one worry before we started was are people going to be interested, will people sign up. the answer to that is overwhelming yes. >> opponents say who signs up is just as important as how many sign up. >> the fact is the sick people are signing up, the healthy aren't. they're not going to because the deductibles are so high and the cost is going to be high. >> the white house said half a million people have filled out applications but won't say how

many of them were able to enroll. in washington, susan mcginnis, wjz eyewitness news. >> the house committee will hold a hearing this week looking into the affordable care act's role out and who is to blame for its problems. starting this morning same-sex marriages are being recognized in the state of new jersey. >> excited. >> as of mid might couples rushed the down the aisle. more are expected to do so a judge ruled new jersey must accept same-sex licenses starting today. new jersey's governor and the state legislation are appealing that judge's order. two escaped killers are back behind bars this morning. now police are trying to figure out how they were able to fool prison officials. joseph jenkins and paul walker were captured in a panama hotel. how

police want to know who helped them gain their release. >> an underlying speculation where there was a source for a certain sum of money these documents could be constructed. >> police say they're presuing a tip of someone. both inmates were serving life sentences for murder. an accident above the pennsylvania line leads to the deaths of five people. police say it was a head-on collision involving two motorcycles and an suv that happened an hour from here. four people were on bikes, two others were in the suv. investigators say the suv crossed the center line and caused the accident. starting today maryland state police are cracking down on drivers who don't move over when emergency vehicles are on their side of the road. wjz and mike schuh are live outside state police head quarters. good morning, mike. >> reporter: good morning, don. the law has been on the

books for 3 years. after a couple of high profile incidents the maryland state police say they are serious about enforcing it. >> this is police video. look to the left. here , i'll start the video again. a maryland state trooper is nearly killed as a driver fails to move over. >> i've been hit by a car. >> last year troop er er david aveo survived but was left with complications. >> there doesn't seem like light at the end of the tunnel but i'm able to walk. >> another trooper jacqueline kline was hit by a driver as they failed to move over. >> she broke the rear wind shield and hit the k-9 cage. she fell off into a ditch. >> the move over law took effect in 2010. officers said

it is drivers are still putting them in danger. >> it's time to make the public aware of the necessity of the law. >> troopers will be extremely vigilant, looking for drivers who fail to move over one lane for stopped emergency vehicles with lights activated. disobeying that law will add point to you license and cost you between $150 and $750. >> if they're unable the move over slow down to a safe speed. >> reporter: it could mean an addition of three point to your license also. >> thank you. we're told special enforce. ope ment operations will be underway today. three people are under arrest in anne arundel county charges with stealing dozens of boxes of ammo from the air marshall program. 18-year-old brandon tree was driving suspiciously. after they pulled

him over with a 15 and 16-year-old they found 70 boxes of ammo, bolt cutters and a flashlight. he admitted to breaking into a trailer and taking the ammo. a local landmark is getting a facelift. according to our media partner the baltimore sun the city's washington monument will undergo $5 million on repairs on its pillar and pedastol. they hope to have it reopened by july 4th of 2015. a bitter pill to swallow for ravens fans as they fall to the steelers in pittsburgh. now players say it's time to make changes. here is sports director mark viviano. >> good morning. well, it is a long football season, too early to panic. terrell suggs declared a state of emergency. two straight defeats for the ravens, both of them heartbreakers. this one hurts more because it comes at the hands of the steelers.

love. >> 60 minutes on tape with one big message, stop relationship violence. >> the whole story line is broken around these four escalating phases of relationship violence. >> those stories are as real as they come. >> where suddenly the perpetrator in this case doesn't allow the victim to make choices. there's a lot of controlling issues. >> the one law foundation organized in memory of yeardley love is the driving force behind this educational video thursday. until yeardley's murder by her boyfriend dating violence was something women thought would never happen to them. now her family and the foundation are spotlighting the issue. >> the biggest goal that people stop ignoring signs and catch them at an earlier time. >> each year domestic violence kills 450 women 16 to 26 years old. one in three women will be effected by relationship violence in her lifetime, one of four during college.

the obama administration is hiring more computer experts to improve the websites that offer access to health care plans. more than 19 million have visited the sites. many complain about the numerous technical defects and glitches. democrats and republicans are calling on the white house to fix things. >> look, it's been a fiasco. load air force 1 up with smart people, bring them back to washington to fix this problem. it's ridiculous and everybody knows that. >> it has to be fixed. what doesn't have to be fix ed is the fact that tens of millions of more people will have access to affordable quality health care. >> the president will host a health care event today. the government reached a

>> 41 days and counting gases have been on a steady decline. >> i come to this corner and look and see who has the lowers price an it's usual will i this -- usually this gas station. >> my wife's car demands premium gasoline. when it was over $4 it was a headache to fill up. now it's getting easier. >> aaa says over the last month and a half prices have fallen by more than a quarter. the agency believes the slide is only going to continue until the end of the year. >> we expect that gas prices will remain steady and decline more as we're seeing weak demand, supplies pentful. >> they can go back down to where they were when i was in high school. 70 cents a gallon. >> for some drivers it's cause to celebrate. others though are still a little skeptical about the drop. >> in terms of what americans

call cheap gas we're not going to get that. >> gas stations are switched over to the winter blends which are generally cheaper than those used in the summer months. i'm gigi barnett, wjz eyewitness news. >> in today's wjz pump watch report. $3.32 for gallon on average. that's a noticeable drop from a month ago when we were paying $3.43 gallon. turning to sports, it was a late night in indianapolis and the colts welcomed peyton manning back to town. after falling behind by 19 in the 3rd manning and the broncos came roaring back, cut the lead to 6 points but got no closer. the colts hand the broncos their first loss of the season. 39-33 was the final in indianapolis. the ravens are trying to shake off a loss to the steelers in pittsburgh. now has the team heads into its bye week players
