shot in the bathroom. a teacher murdered in massachusetts. >> who is in custody and why area schools are shut down good afternoon. i'm don scott. >> i'm jessica kartalija. >> once again, we begin with breaking news and violence at a school. in massachusetts a teacher is dead, a teenager missing and seven schools in the town is is shut down. the report for wjz says the 24-year-old teacher was found dead behind the building and a 14-year-old is under arrest. >> dan vers high school outside of boston is now a crime scene after police say one of the school's students murdered a teacher. they were called tuesday afternoon after a 14-year-old boy didn't return home from school. then another call tuesday night about a female teacher who was also missing. >> as a result of that report we initiated a search for the teacher and discovered blood in the second floor bathroom at the

high school. the school was immediately secured. >> police found the body of 24-year-old colleen ritser in woods behind the school. >> she was a very, very respected, loved teacher. at 24 years of age it's a terrible tragedy for the entire community. >> early wednesday morning they found the missing 14-year-old boy walking on a highway. he was arrested and charged with murder. police would not say how they tied the boy to the murder or how she was killed. students who attend the high school say there are no metal detectors inside. >> just cameras. >> all schools in danvers are closed today. the 14-year-old will be arraigned in juvenile court on a charge of murder. >> there is the second teacher killed by a student in this country this week. on monday a 12-year-old shot a middle schoolteacher in sparks, nevada. here city police are investigating a woman murdered

many broad daylight. sky eye chopper 13 over abbott court in east baltimore. 24-year-old gwendolyn johnson was shot in the stomach and later died at the hospital. no arrests have been made. anyone with information is urged to call city police. a major announcement from amazon. they are coming to maryland and bringing more than 1,000 jobs with it. mike schuh is live with the latest. hi, mike. >> reporter: hello everyone. amazon wants to go to the same same-day delivery. to do that they have to get the product closer to customers. this warehouse is going to serve the entire baltimore and washington area. >> on line giant amazon will be one of baltimore's biggest employers. the fortunate 500 company just announced it picked charm city for a location for one of its new distribution centers. >> now it's a reality. it's a job with great pays ben

ing benefits. it's a great day for baltimore. >> of course we always talk about jobs, jobs, jobs. it's great thing for the city. >> it's a 1 million square foot facility. it will be going up on the port of baltimore in a spot formally taken up by the gm assembly plant. the warehouse is expected to create 1,000 full time jobs with benefits that includes 401k, health care and prepaid tuition for college. >> it's critical i think for any kind of employers to bring that kind of business and those kinds of jobs to this area. >> i think that's really important, especially for folks who other wise wouldn't be able to afford those kinds of opportunities. >> those who work at this distribution center will pick, pack and ship retail goods to consumers. the baltimore location is one of eight new warehouses. they are building in cities it believes have a large consumer base, making it easier to get products to people

faster. city leaders believe it is the beginning of more big business. >> it holds baltimore in a better light and higher light and shows that we're a world class city that's open for business. >> reporter: now, no word on when construction or hiring will begin. the state and city are looking at expanding mass transit out to that site and also amazon is eligible for over a dozen tax credits and incentives for moving here. i'm mike schuh reporting live. back to you. >> thank you. maryland residents who purchasen amazon.com will have to pay sales tax once the center opens. the scramble continuing in washington dc to fix the website that americans are trying to use to sign up for insurance. technology experts are lending a hand. >> obama administration officials briefed congressional democrats this morning on what is being done to improve the health insurance website. >> i don't believe that the

president is going to allow days and week to go by without marked improvement not website's capabilities. >> republicans were not invited to the session. >> clearly there's problem with the website. i would argue that the problems go much further than that. >> healthcare.gov is set up to allow americans to shop for health insurance. it has been plagued with problems. house republicans released a video that shows actually chat with a customer. >> it does not allow me to move forward. >> don't lose your sanity over this website. >> some gop lawmakers including paul ryan are calling for the human health and secretary services to resign. in an interview she put the focus on fixing healthcare.gov. >> people are frustrated with the website. the product is there, the prices are good. >> the deadline to sign up for

insurance is march 31st. many are calling for the obama administration to extend the open enrollment period because of so many problems with the website. >> tara mergener, wjz eyewitness news. >> the administration has let to release how many americans are enrolled. a water main break continue to cause problems in baltimore county. one lane is open in both directions on joppa road. repairs continue on a water main break in front of the wise super market. it ruptured monday night. it disrupted services for businesses, schools and homes in the area. most are now back online. autumn is closing in on central maryland. in western maryland it's already starting to feel a little like winter. oh, my goodness. here's a live look at the first snow of the season on route 50 in garrett county. it's on the grass. a few degree cooler than normal

here in central maryland but the sun is shining. marty is updated current conditions. unbelievable. >> weather man sees that and just wants to string himself up. oh, man. i'm not ready for that. hi, everybody. that was about 3,000 feet out in garrett county. so you're going to expect to start seeing some snow at that elevation. excuse me. wow. what a shocker. let's take a look at first warning doppler weather radar. morning showers and showers around now are the same system that brought that snow and continue to bring that light snowfall to garrett county. there's a cold front moving our way. take a look at the moisture out to the west. it's moving our way. we're going to have some showers come through here over the course of the afternoon. i can't even rule out we might not -- we might see a little bit of sun. variably cloudy skies in between showers. 53 on tv hill right now. it's 8 degrees cooler than this time yesterday.

there's scattered showers outside, 53 degrees in central maryland right now. the boston bombing suspect killed by police is being link today a triple homicide. tamerlan tsarnaev was questioned by police in the shooting death of three people in waltham, massachusetts in september 2011. three men were found with their necks cut in an apartment and their bodies covered in marijuana. the documents surfaced as federal prosecutors worked to make the case against this brother in the marathon bombings. the man who confessed to a fatal drunk driving accident on you tube is learning his fate. >> on june 22nd i hit and

killed vincent. >> he will spent 6 years in prison. he pleaded guilty. he faced the maximum of 8 pntd and a half years in prison. in utah a man takes a trip to the state capitol and driving his vehicle up three flights of steps. surveillance video captured the bizarre scene. he walked into the building like nothing unusual happened and admitted to a secure area on the third floor where troopers caught up with him. he was kicking in the doors of the chamber at the time. when a taser didn't take him down he was tackled. there's a world favorite car color. silver is falling in popularity to white. silver and black tied for second place with 18% each.

all right. beautiful shot from sky eye chopper 13. fall is really going to be kicking in here other the next couple of days. there's been scattered trees in my neighborhood here and there getting some brilliant reds and oranges. for the most part along the ridge lines in baltimore county, where i mostly travel, that's indicative of what i'm seeing. fall is just now really getting ready to kick in. of course, we showed you some snow out in western maryland at the beginning of the show. you can go to chart on the web and the mdot cameras, u.s. 50 at table rock. that's the shot we showed you. you can see snow on the ground, not on the roads. more showers coming our way and more light showers in garrett county through the afternoon. 53 degrees. almost at the high. 52 per % humidity. barometer is at 29.70.

32 oak land, 54 elkton, 50 easton, 53 ocean city, the mid 50s in dc, 52 annapolis and kent island. here's first warning doppler weather radar. we're getting a break after morning shower activity. more showers will be moving our way. it's not impossible to see sunshine in between a couple of these scattered showers. it's all part of this newer air mass. this frontal boundary is coming out of central canada. that's where our air is going to be coming from. i told you there's a bright spot in that forecast. skies are going to be real clear. you get these canadian highs settling in over the area. the sky is spectacular. sky conditions have been a nice fall and that will continue. 56 degrees will be the high. 37 over night. the normals are mid 60s, mid 40s.

in today's wjz health watch an update on dangerous pet treats. nearly 600 pets have died and thousands others sickened in an out break illness connected to jerky treats. they're not sure why they're getting sick, just know they were imported from china. getting a flu shot may lower your risk of a heart attack. cardiovascular problems have been linked to infections brought on by the flu. among the patients they saw with artery disease those who received flu shots were less likely to have a major heart event. researchers in massachusetts say generating new hair growth is an advance from previous transplant methods. this
