so we can all continue to dream big, central florida. still some hope. >> a lot of people talking about that. >> it is 5:00 a.m. on this thur sday, january 7. i'm david hall. >> troy and doishgs are here. >> good morning, good morning. travel times to get you going on your morning commute. >> we are seeing some of that drizzle, low fogs and clouds wooeflt check pack in with you in a second. breaking news in melbourne first. police and swat in a standoff with a man at an apartment complex, shots were fired at this scene. it is all happening at the coral gardens condos. johnny is out there the at the scene. what do we know so far? >> reporter: i did speak with people at the condominium. they have been out of their homes for four to five hours.

the condominium complex, trying to work off this standoff. now, here's what people that live here tell me happened. they say an armed man refused to get out of his condo. they tell me that there was a woman and two boys inside the condo complex. police have not released anything about that, they tell me that cops surrounded the apartment complex and tried to negotiate with a man. that is when they heard gun fire. >> i don't know why he had her in there. it sounded serious. there were a lot of shots fired. i would say well over 20 rounds. well over 20 rounds. >> at this point, we are working with police to get more information on what happened. information. i also spoke with paramedics on the scene. they tell me at this point no one has been transported to the hospital. this is still an ongoing developing story.

past that information online and pass it to you guys on the morning news. >> we'll see you soon. outside, fog will greet you. >> reduced visibilities and really the worst, we'll have a lot of people hitting the roads. the i-4 corridor in orange county. visibilities just updated, down to a half mile. somewhere to go in the next hour or so. visibilities also reduced north and west into leesburg, lake county, just about two miles. i know that sounds fine but it means the low clouds and drizzle will be a factor. those roads could be wet in those areas. look at the temperatures, 57 in orlando. 62 degrees at new smyrna beach. 52 in ocala. grab a jacket heading out. here's the good news, we'll see more and more sunshine as the day progresses, burning off the fog. seeing more of that into the afternoon. more sunshine with a high of 75. coming up, we'll talk about

week, that's tomorrow, first, let's check on the roads and head over to dori. there is only one more day in this week. >> that's right. this is a live look at i-4 at state road 535, eastbound lanes are your taillights, westbound lanes are your headlights. smooth sailing in this area. average speeds, 65 miles an hour, some travel times coming out of seminole county. i-4 east, john young parkway is a comfortable five-minute travel time. we are in the green zone in your 60's eastbound and westbound on i-4. 64 miles an hour on the turnpike, a car crab at devar with an unknown roadblock. >> 4178 in orange county after a car burst into flames. crews worked to put out the fire on 528 exit. we don't know what started the fire or if anyone was hurt. we'll let you know as soon as we get more information. >> this 1-year-old right here that you see behind me will face

he is a man police say stabbed a week. that attack happened while children were inside. kirsten o'connor has the story. >> two days after christmas, police say this man, 1-year-old michael phillips beat and stabbed a husband and wife at their home while their two children were inside. neighbors in disbelief as detectives and dive teams searched the neighborhoods. assaulted like this. >> police sent out this sketch trying to i.d. the attacker and almost immediately tips poured in all pointing to phillips. now after his arrest, the victims are still recovering. the young mother stabbed eight times, her husband seven, including several near his heart and stomach. their two young children were not harmed. but the emotional trauma is still fresh.

phillips' picture, the wife says it feels like he is looking at me the way he did when he heard me. neighbors now relieved to know the police had their man. >> we haven't had anything like this go on on, that i can remember. >> that is kirsten o'connor report. >> in hours, a man accused of injuring an orlando officer is set to face a judge for the first time since his arrest. we brought you this as breaking news when the officer was dragged out of the gas station parking lot. police say the driver was this man, tracy morgan and he at first took off after abandoning his truck. investigators were able to track him down yesterday afternoon. they could be talking about the

about your retirement accounts after another huge stock fell overseas. trading had to be halted overnight after numbers took a tumble. worries over the chinese academy is the reason markets are going down. we'll keep a watch on the markets. we'll post updates and update you at noon. >> the man charged with murder after a police shooting killed an innocent woman can find out when he'll stand trial. rhodes never fired any shots but he was charged with murder after a bullet killed a 22-year-old woman inside. the officer was cleared of any wrongdoing. rhodes is facing life in prison if convicted. >> instead of focusing on lessons, students being kept out of parts of one middle school

exhaust hoods were left on over the holiday break. because of that, the school principal says they are playing it safe and no students are allowed in the labs or rooms around it. a deep cleaning is planned for this weekend. students can get back inside. >> problems for congresswoman cor rein brown. there are reports she is under a federal investigation. the florida times union says the democrat was served with a subpoena by federal agents while eating dinner in a jacksonville restaurant earlier this week. brown's office put out a statement, they are not confirming the investigation, only saying this congressional district is under attack and now it is under siege by other political forces. brown is in the middle of a lawsuit over the redrawing of her congressional district. we'll ask for more answers and we'll let you know what we find out.

could see visitors from up north. >> it is as jet blue has brand new flights to daytona beach. the airline is launchinging daily service between daytona the and jfk airport. the airline will have one flight a day for now. crews say that could increase if the trips are popular. the airline could add flights to other cities like boston later in the future. the first flight is set to arrive before noon today. i checked the temperature in new york, 41 degrees. here. >> it is starting off ugly. in fact, this is the 55 west building in downtown orlando. the only reason we know it is that building, we can see it lit up. we are seeing a lot of fog over downtown. you have to keep in mind many cameras are elevated well above the roadways. it is looking worst, higher up in the atmosphere than down at the surface. still some lower visibilities in orange county down to a half mile along i-4.

we don't have any other photos. maybe yesterday you got out and about. look at visibilities down to a half mile in a large part of orange county. many other areas looking pretty good, down to two miles in leesburg and the villages. those are regions that could see more fog developing. look at the temperatures, once again this morning, many areas cool enough to grab at least a light jacket. we are at 57 in orlando. 58 degrees at sanford. right there in the north of that region and daytona beach, we are at 60. 52 in ocala. 63 at cocoa beach. beach. >> as we help you plan the day, we'll expect clearing skies, it yesterday. starting off ugly, the drizzle and fog and then it burns off. we only see a 10% chance for showers into the afternoon. warming to 73 at noon. 75 at 4:00. that average high is 71.
