4:10 pm
stood up and asked for the public's help and many sleepless nights have gone on from the investigators in the case to state attorney involved with this to members of the public. our goal in the beginning was to find lonzie. it turned pretty obvious pretty quickly it wasn't going to happen with him being alive. but it didn't stop our efforts and didn't stop the interest of the public. it is a very sad day that we find these remains that we believe to be lonzie's. but it's the first step in justice. i mentioned several times that that little boy didn't need to be discarded like a piece of trash and today we're able to take what we believe to be him from being disposed just like that and the hopes that he can spend his eternity somewhere
4:11 pm
somewhere that is basically a garbage heap. and that's just wrong. this case is not over. we've got a lot of steps and legalities about how we got out here today. we worked with william ebron and his attorneys pretty much every step of the way. again, specifics, as we discussed this, many times i've not been able to give you specifics. the lack of my specificity is because i don't want to jeopardize the judicial process of this case. justice is sometimes slow and sometimes piece by piece and today is just another piece of the justice that we have. finding the bodies of very, very large pieces of that, this community i can tell you from
4:12 pm
since the beginning of this, this family of this community is really lonzie's family. and they love him. the investigative team, i can tell you they take it with them to bed every night. today's actions, today's recoveries and what led us here is, again, just a piece of that justice. i can certainly let you know that our efforts aren't through. today is not the end. today is just another step. it's most important that this community is aware that the efforts, the investigative efforts, the decisions that were made in this case by the sheriff's office and working with the state attorney's office were the goal of taking that child from places unknown today to a specific place and from that specific place to a location of peace.
4:13 pm
that our efforts will still continue until this could be fully completed. thank you. >> you know, we had a great working relationship in northeast florida with all of our state, local and federal partners. we have a great day today working relationship with our state attorney, angela corey who has been a big part of the investigation. >> good afternoon. thank you for being here. we thank you for being around to help us represent our victims. working with law enforcement is critical. that's why this case illustrates it better than possibly any other case that we've dealt with lately. if you cannot work with law enforcement, you cannot attempt to seek justice as it should be on a case-by-case basis. so that's been the parameters of this case, working with law enforcement from the beginning, working to find lonzie's body,
4:14 pm
importance to us. as tom just said, this is one piece in an ongoing quest for justice for lonzie. so we may not be able to give you all of the answers today, but we do believe the remains found are lonzie barton, so that starts another whole process, as you well know, with our medical examiner who also is helping us with this case. and we will have more answers in the coming weeks. however, we believe that what got us to this point today was critical and necessary and it's one of the things that we do daily in the criminal justice system is work to seek a resolution of a case that helps us get what's necessary. >> we've been watching a live press conference from jacksonville where, again, deputies believe they have found the remains of missing toddler lonzie barton. we're staying on top of this breaking news story and we will bring you any updates right here on air and on clickorlando.com, powered by news 6.
4:15 pm
that everyone involved in that search is so deeply moved but also relieved that they may have some closure, at least a little bit, in finding his body, hearing him say he deserved better than to be thrown away than like a piece of garbage. >> just when you thought the jackpot couldn't get any bigger, it has. >> the huge amount now up for grabs in the powerball and why what you see on your drive home may not be what you get. >> i think it is after you pay the government, right? isn't that what that is? take a look at temperature readings right now. we've maxed-out at 60 in orlando, 59 in sanford and 55 in gainesville and 52 in palm coast. from here, we only get colder. i'll be back to track the overnight lows and shows you where the freeze warnings are and talk about the entire workweek ahead. >> but first, consumer reports finds out which cell phone companies have the best service and why you may want to
