have you felt it? from the cold to the frost, the weather could impact your morning ahead. good morning, central florida. i'm david hall. >> i'm bridgett ellison with troy bridges with our cold weather forecast forecast. >> even worse than yesterday at this time. the freeze warning in effect until 9:00. we have a while to go before we see any warmup. there's that warning in effect where you see the turquoise color, that will be marion county and flagler county until 9:00. the rest of central florida is cold, not as cold as northern zones. it is 36 in ocala. look at gainesville, freezing. 41 at palm coast. milder in cocoa beach at 53. cold enough for a medium weight jacket. at times it will feel cooler. we have shave a couple of degree off with the windchill.

we have a roadblock with this one. >> back to the weather with the thermometer dipping to dangerous temperatures. police hoping to get results this morning. mark lehman is live outside opd headquarters where a big collection drive is under two hours away. what are they hoping to accomplish? >> police are looking for anything to help keep people warm, jackets, a winter coat. they will donate that to the homeless and others will be kept in the back of the patrol cars if it is need. we are out and about early this morning where you can see people bundled up and doing their best to battle the cold air. a freeze watch in effect through wednesday morning, that means subfreezing temperatures are possible for two hours in some spots, especially inland. with the cold snap hitting our

>> to breaking news overnight in orange county, a neighborhood on invasion. >> you know what, the suspects in all this are still on the run it happened at a home on broken pines circle not far from clarcona road. johnny, we know neighbors are concerned. what do we know at this point about the suspects in all of this? >> deputies are not saying much at this time. what we know is is that all four suspects fled in a car after they broke into the home. i want to show you video from the home invasion. you can see that deputies swarmed broken pine circle after they got a call about the home invasion. invasion a little after 9:00 last night. we know four people broke into the house. the crime caused much of the neighborhood to be blocked off investigated.

believed anyone was seriously hurt. we are coming back live. now a number of questions still remain, including why the home may have been targeted or any description of the suspects. we'll be reaching out to deputies this morning to try to get these answers. once i get new information, i'll pass the information along to you on air and online on clickorlando.com. >> a frightening situation, thank you. >> a scary crime is caught on camera. now detectives are asking for help getting results in finding the men responsible. you can see a guy leaping over the counter on buena ventura. you can see the suspect dragging the clerk to the register as he held the worker at gun point. then a second robber jumps over the counter and grabs the cash. deputies think they got away in this four door cobalt. it has a missing hub cap.

it is hard to see their faces since they are covered up. if you have any information at sheriff's office. >> meanwhile, deputies in brevard county are asking for burglary. this ended with a homeowner opening fire on the suspect. police say just after 1:00 yesterday afternoon a man heard a noise in the garage. when he went to check it out, he saw this guy stealing something out of the garage. police say the homeowner fired a shot and the burglar hopped into a camry and got away. here's a look at it. here's one more look at the burglar. police say he is white or hispanic in his mid to late 20's. >> 5:06 now. the brevard county man accused of opening fire on police during a nearly 12 hour standoff won't be getting out of jail any time soon. >> you may remember this scene

they exchanged gun fire with 47-year-old michael tailor when he refused to come out of his condo. no one was hurt but taylor was hospitalized several days. yesterday a judge denied bond in the case. investigators say taylor is an army veteran and suffers from ptsd. he faces a long list of charges including aggravated assault. >> in hours opening statements will start in the retrial of the teen in the middle of an investigation. the trial of amber wright agreed on eight jurors. prosecutors say the now 19-year-old lured jackson to a home in summerfield where he was shot several times and then burned in a fire pit. in 2012 a jury sentenced wright and three others to life in prison but two years later t united states appeals court ruled wright was not read her rights before an interview with investigators.

her trial. >> in hours, the owners of a sanford store will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of his memory. he was shot as he was closing up shop. so far no one has been arrested. police did release these store security cameras. take a good look at these pictures. detectives say they are not suspects but they know something about herr's death. the vigil starts at 7:00 at kim's food store. >> a special ceremony for veterans to be held at the cape canaveral national cemetery. the cemetery will be held as the veterans are led to rest. the new cemetery is off u.s. 1 near huntington avenue and will serve the needs of more than 163,000 vets over the next 100 years. >> the second season of the

the weather service is warning people this morning. troy will have another update in minutes. >> we are following a tragic story breaking overnight out of ohio where a family of four was killed after their home near akron exploded. emergency crews say the bodies of a man a woman and their young daughters were found inside. not only wiped out much of the homes. the cause of the blast is still under investigation. we'll continue to follow this story for updates. >> state lawmakers are returning to work for this year's legislative session. >> already we know some issues in the national spotlight could end up in a showdown in tallahassee. kirsten is here with a rundown of what to expect. >> bridgett and david, we have a lot of bills being considered. it is all starting after 11:00 this morning as governor rick scott does his state of the state address.

they are calling for a billion dollars in cuts and hundreds of millions of dollars in incentives to lure more jobs to the state. while more cuts may not get that high, lawmakers are expected to pass another tax holiday on back to school supplies and may extend that to college textbooks as well. another big focus, gun control. that's been in the national spotlight and lawmakers are expected to take up a bill this session that would allow people with concealed carry licenses to bring guns on florida campuses. another bill would make florida a so-called open carry state allowing people -- crack down on gun show sales and the controversial stand your ground law and education also expected to be a focus today. lawmakers may take up a bill to allow counties to scrap those standardized tests in favor of some -- in favor of other exams like the sat.

fight against the fsa. you can get continuing coverage on the session as it happens on news 6. >> in brevard county, deputies are asking for your help identifying two atm bandits dressed as a comic book hero. deputies say these two guys are grove. deputies say the men tried to load the atm to the back of a stolen van but had to leave it behind when they couldn't get away with it. if you know anything about this crime call the crime line number. >> a former volunteer firefighter is charged with setting two fires at a golf course in altamonte springs. firefighters are supposed to protect this, detectives say 27-year-old travis pierce set the first fire on new year's day on west town parkway, this is not far from spring lake

>> there is new technology that allows cars to talk to each other that is becoming more common. >> the department of transportation has taken a major step towards requiring it to be in all new cars sold in the u.s., vehicle to vehicle or v to v, use the technology similar to wi-fi to allow cars in close proximity to share information several times a second. that info could warn drivers about potential hazards up the road. v to v may also be able to communicate with things. the transportation secretary says the technology may help prevent up to 80% of crashes on the nation's roads. that is a great advancement to hear about.
