we are live with the latest information. >> a cold weather alert for central florida. if you are headi out, parts of central florida below freezing right now. good morning, central florida. it is 5:30. i'm bridgett ellison. >> i'm david hall. outside. freeze warnings in place in five again. let's start with troy bridges temperatures. temperatures had been at or below freezing for two to four hours this morning for all of these counties shaded in blue. inland volusia county, all of flagler county, all of lake, all of sumter, all of marion county, north and northwest of i-4, temperatures well below freezing for some time. now. temperature. ocala. not a lot of wind there so there is not a big windchill. in other spots, there is a windchill. we are at 39 in orlando. we are at 37 in daytona beach. 46 in cocoa beach.

like freezing in daytona beach. 34 in orlando. not a lot of wind in ocala. cold enough at 27 as we take you through the day with the pinpoint accurate forecast. you can expect a mix of sun and clouds and a gradual warmup. warmer than we saw yesterday. getting up to 59 at noon. 65 at 4:00. still well below the average, the average is 71. we'll talk about a chance for thunderstorms on the way by the end of the week. first let's check on the roads and head over to amy. what is happening? >> good morning. one thing i want to bring to your attention, reports of a car fire happening in kissimmee. what is going on right now? we are unsure of lane blockages. i want to bring it to your attention on hybrid at violet lane f we get information about blockages, i'll let you know. traveling through that area, major arteries moving along nicely.

lake mary, no big slowdowns. that's your check on traffic. back to you. >> back to the breaking news out of orange county, firefighters on the scene of a deadly fire. >> right now, we know a man has died after fire swept through a shed attached to his home. it happened in the conway area south of gatland avenue. mark lehman is there live. any idea on what started this? >> reporter: on a cold morning like this, the first thought is maybe some sort of heating source could be the cause of the fire. i spoke to the fire chief. he said all that remains under investigation. take a look at the video. a witness shot cell phone video as crews arrived on the scene. it may be difficult to see, the video shows flames shooting from the backyard of the home. firefighters say a shed was consumed when they made their way to the property. two parents and their two adult children live at the home as firefighters extinguish the flames they found the body of a

he is believed to be the homeowner. minutes ago, the chief told us with temps dipping into the 30's, a space heater may have played some sort of role in the fire. >> it is very cold out. there is a chance the space heater could have been in use. we don't know. the building was fully involved. everything is burned beyond recognition. >> a witness says he spoke with the victim's wife. she says her husband was up early this morning, working in that shed as he typically does. that's when the fire broke out. you can still see lots of fire engines here on the scene, investigators coming into the home into the backyard of the home. they are sifting through the damage and talking with family members this morning as the investigation continues. we'll stay out here throughout the morning and try to gather more information as to what the cause of the fire is. also, we are working to get more information about who this victim is as well. as soon as we learn anything

heard. cnn reports the taliban has claimed responsibility. we are continuing to follow breaking news and we'll bring you updates both on air and online at clickorlando.com. >> we have dramatic new video a man started shooting in the middle of a gas station parking lot. you can see bullets flying around there. whoever is pulling that trigger still hasn't been arrested. this wild scene was yesterday at the citgo. deputies say two groups were fighting in the parking lot when they started shooting at each other. one person who detectives think was a bystander was shot. that person was rushed to the hospital. we are waiting for an update on their condition. the shooting put four nearby schools into lockdown for more than an hour. if you have any information about those suspects, call the sheriff's office. >> in osceola county, a registered felon is back behind bars this morning, five days after deputies issued a warrant

investigators say he molested a 12-year-old girl. david brown senior was arrested. he has been charminged with 10 counts of swal battery on a child. seven counts of molestation. the victim told them brown began touching her last year but she was too scared to come forward. brown spent time in jail after being convicted on drug charges. >> daytona beach police chief is ok after a car hit his car. he was trying to stop three teens when they side swiped him. >> they easily could have hurt someone or themselves. lucky. >> the teens wildfire arrested after crashing the car a short time later. detectives say they stole the car after a woman left it road. >> and right now, we are following a story about the -- this morning we are learning new

police now say the man who was shot and killed was holding an air soft gun. >> i'm sure you have seen those assimilated farms. they look real, impossible for officers to determine that, put their own lives at risk and put the lives of other students at risk. >> police chief john mena said his officers tried several times to put the gun down when they responded to the courtney landing condos. when the man refused, mena said his officers had to take action. he was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. the two officers placed on leave as the fdle investigate. >> a bizarre hit and run at a busy osceola county intersection. detectives say someone ran a red light and hit another car but it did not stop there. this all happened sunday night at the intersection of john young parkway and vine street in kissimmee. check out the scene. this video shows a black ford explorer running a red light and slamming into a pickup truck.

gets out of his car and starts trying to open the truck driver's side door. with no luck, the driver runs off. mo one was injured. police say they found alcohol in the explorer and they want to speak with another man seen in the video. >> there is a crime alert to tell you about coming out of brevard county. police hoping this surveillance video will lead them to the men who set two cars on fire. this happened saturday morning at a home. you can see in the video one of the suspects pouring on one of the vehicles. detectives say one of the men may have been burned. if you have any information, call the crimeline -- 1-800-423-tips. >> starting today, things will look dirty add citrus bowl. >> that's ok. 300 truckloads of dirt will be dumped inside the stadium as part of prep for this weekend monster jam. this is video from last year converting the stadium into a dirt race and obstacle course. the event will draw in more than

right now, a freeze warning is in effect for parts of central florida as temperatures plummet overmight. right now some areas are below freezing. many other spots in the 30's. troy bridges has your pinpoint accurate forecast. it is coming up in three minutes. >> while we are feeling the chill, tens of millions of americans are bracing for what could be the worst snowstorm of the season. some places seeing more than a foot of snow. it is all part of a system moving across our nation. this is what it looks like over in nebraska. as you can see the omaha area got several inches of snow yesterday, making driving conditions very difficult. you know what, at one point, parts of road had to be shut down because too many cars stalled on snow drifts. new this morning the backlash over the lack of diversity among this year's oscar nominees has reached a new level.

a boycott of this year's academy awards. >> if we cannot change the hearts of hollywood, we can at least change the bottom line. sometimes when people's profit is touched, it leads to them turning around and changing their minds about institutional neglect and institutional exclusion. >> sharpton among some others are upset that for the second year straight the academy of motion pictures arts and scientists chose mostly white nominees. the head of the academy promised to address the diversity issue. spike lee and jada pinkett smith said they will not attend. >> sea world is removing safety procedures they put in place following a trainer's death. sea world is removing the fast lifting floors that were installed in some pools. this is video in 2012 of those floors.

floors are not needed since trainers no longer perform in the water. they were installed in 2011 following the death of dawn brancheau. >> a consumer alert involving the iphone 6. apple says it is working to fix a bug that give owners a false sense of how much battery power is left. the quirk causes the power level to freeze when people change time zones or manually change the time. the battery icon could show 50% when the phone is about to die. apple says for the time being, iphone users should recheck the phone and make sure the time and date is set to automatic. >> from a star on the silver screen to a real-life hero. we are hearing from jamie foxx one day after police say he saved a man from a fiery crash. take a look. police say the driver crashed his car outside fox's home near los angeles monday.
