inmate on the run for about nine hours now. he did not return to his work release center. he was staying at the to moe co release center just west of i 95. sahh shell sawners is live in the shores where he was last scene. sahh shell, how did this happen? >> that's the question that several agencies are working to answer at this very minute. what we do know is he went to work at this local hotel and then did not come back. after 8 o'clock this morning, 24-year-old jerry showed up for his job as usual. part of his prison work release program. >> i seen him a few mornings on the bus when he was going to work and i was on my way to work, he was on his way to work. he had his monitor on. but the state inmate was a japanese letter tattooed on his right arm would not finish his

cutting off his gps monitoring ankle bracelet and disappearing. >> i just had some trouble and you know, wanted to go take care of -- didn't want to be locked in there anymore. he said the talkative fugitive seemed harmless. but he was doing time for serious charges including a robbing a woman's home in 2009 while she was inside, shooting his gun several times to scare her. cub cab driver saying he's worried he could run into him. >> you never know what could happen or how he could react. >> reporter: he had orders to return to the community release center each night by five. inmates have less than 19 months left in their sentence. he was last seen at the resort right here. this is where he worked. he was suppose ed to return to that correctional facility, and he did not. just want to gi you one more description of him. he is a white man, black hair,

he goes by detective sand a duo with the orlando police department. his badge looks real. and paired with handcuff, deputies say umm bare toe put on a good game impersonating a cop. deputies say he started at this orlando car dealership where santiago got paid under the table as an unlicensed and unofficial repo man. the owner paid him cash to pick up a car from this home. but deputies say how he did it crossed the line. he threaten ed the car's owner with jail time saying it was stolen and he needed to hand over the keys. >> i asked him why. i mean the reason, surely. i wouldn't really know what a proper police officer here looks like. he's got a gun and a badge, then policemen. so after hearing what happened neighbors are relieved to see this man in jail. thanks to the victim that was

it shows a woman trying to escape with her life as a car slides down a sidewalk. the camera didn't stop rolling there. the car ended up hitting the woman and slinging her into the air. incredibly, she survived with just a broken leg. the driver is now in trouble, though. lee ann walks us through it all. we want to warn you, the rest of this video might be tough to watch. >> the victim hardly had time to escape the speeding car. watch as she seems to notice the vehicle careening right towards her. the car hits her anyway, sending her flying into a parking lot of a car dealership. it happened around friday morning. the driver had been drinking at a club before getting behind the wheel and driving his car on to the sidewalk here. the vehicle striking a woman in her 30s. witnesses left stunned. >> boom like this. i said oh my god. somebody dead. >> reporter: police say the

impal la's front bumper. the driver was pacing the scene before he left. >> he was just walking up and down here and they heard the police sirens or whatever, he came over there and threw something and he left. they found an abandoned impal la with similar damage outside the apartment where the man's girlfriend lives. the police arrived to find the man running out of the apartment naked before taking him into custody. a wild end to a shocking crime caught on camera. crazy, that was lee ann reporting in miami. the driver was taken to the hospital under the baker act. he will be charged with leaving the scene of a crash. all right, now to a tv heist. deputies looking for the person that stole this. it is a trailer with a giant mobile led screen. the theft is also caught on camera. it was taken from a production company in jacksonville. surveillance video shows a pick

minutes later, it's seen driving down the road with the trailer behind it. that trailer and screen is used for the city's biggest events. the owner said it's worth 150,000 bucks. >> now to some incredible video tonight showing just how dangerous lightening can be. did you see that? that bolt strikes a tree. this in texas. the impact sent a burst of flames shooting from the tree. you can see debris from the tree just goes all over the place. caught on school security camera. no one was hurt. but apparently they saw the tree was hit and then they were like i wonder if we caught that on camera. and they most certainly did. >> looks like something from a hollywood movie. we're going to see a lot of weather change this is weekend, but hopefully no lightening. >> we're done with that. we're done with that for a while. what we're going to do now is light fires. try to warm up. we don't have any watches or warnings going on for us just yet. i'm going to start off with a

freezing rain too. now it's moved to the northeast. our temperatures here at home are in the 50s. don't get used to that. this reading right here of 56 , that is where we're going for a daytime high tomorrow. 24 hour temperature change at 7 colder already in ocala. but the cold air is right here. ready to pour in. the wind is bringing it our way. all funneling in from the west at 17 ocala. ten in orlando, these are the actual winds. but look at the wind gusts. 25 miles per hour wind gusts leesburg. almost 30 in ocala. 25 palm coast. by tomorrow, these numbers are going to climb up instead of being in the 20s, they'll be in the 30s close to 40 before all is said and done. sprinkles and spots tonight. tomorrow morning you wake up and it's in the 40s. as the day wears on, we get a mostly sunny day. but a mostly sunny day. but we just don't warm up. 56 is the high. the winds 40 miles per hour.

arrested including a 14-year-old boy and girl. they were charged for the chase as well as the theft. police say they got gas and didn't pay for it. tonight a couple's considerate gesture is going viral. >> they are offering ear plugs to their neighbors because of their screaming toddlers. take a look at this post on social media that has more than it reads in part, dear residents you may have heard our little angel bellow in recent nights. we apologize for the high pitched screams and assure you everything is kind of under control. and we would like to offer you ear plugs to return to a good night sleep. we appreciate your patience during this period. the note included a photoof the little girl wearing a halo and angel wings. attached to the note is a bag full of ear plugs. how do you argue with that? you continue respond to that. and you're going through this right now.
