we' re in for a sunny, but windy let' s get straight to meteorologist danny treanor. good morning, danny. >> dan: good morning. you know some say the big storm in the northeast isn' t affecting us? it does! people can' t get in or out of the city and we' ll talk about is being affected. for us light misting rain is trying to push through. the windshield wipers but will flush this out before you have to go out and about. as justin is pointing out, the big deal today is how breezy and windy it is going to be. there' s a storm we' re talking about and developing low out here and on the back side of that, as winds go counter clockwise, it pulls in all this cold air and pushes right on top of us as we work through the rest of the day. wind gusts today could be up to 40 mph at timesment so be prepared. it is never going to feel comfortable today. even though it looks sunny and nice eventually this afternoon,

comfortable and then it is going to be to the 30s for the wind today. then it is going to the freeze warnings for tonight and 49 in leesburg and then it is going to what it feels like and 50 in orlando and 52 in melbourne. it is going to be a blustery, windy, uncomfortable day today, justin. >> justin: all right, danny. and this is the white scene from the white house. we' ll have much more on the dangerous winter storm in the midatlantic as well as the effect it' s taken on local travelers. breaking news now, orlando police say a trooper was injured during a hit and run. we just got this video into the newsroom. it happened in cimarron. police tell news 6 police were conducting a traffic stop and another car clipped him as it was driving by. the suspect was later arrested.

minor injuries. we' ll get more details and pass those along to you and updates right here and online at clickorlando.com. right now in volusia county, the search for an inmate on the run since yesterday. we' re told he did not return to his work release center. he was staying at the tamoca community release center on highway 92 just west of i- 95 in volusia county. here' s the news 6 reporter with how this all happened. >> reporter: at 8:00 this morning gary bullock showed up for his janitorial job at el carib as usual. it' s part of his prison work release program. >> i' d see him a few mornings on the bus when he was going to work. when i was on the way to work, he was on his way to work with the ankle monitor on. >> reporter: but the inmate at some point cutting off his gps ankle monitoring bracelet, not

disappear. >> i guess had trouble and didn' t want to be locked up in there anymore. >> reporter: mark says the talkative fugitive seemed harmless, but bullock was doing time for serious charges including robbing a woman' s home in 2009 while she was inside, shooting his gun several times to scare her. one cab driver saying he' s worried he could run into him. >> you never know what could happen or how he could react. >> reporter: bullock had orders to return to the department of corrections community release center each night by 5. inmates have less than 19 months left in their sentence. >> justin: and here' s one more look at gary bullock jr. if you' ve seen him or know where he may be hiding, call police immediately. this morning the tragic end to the search for a mate land hiker. he was found at the base of the broken cliff band at rocky mountain national park in colorado. webber never returned from a mountaineering trek earlier in

re still trying to determine an exact cause of death. in osceola county, a fake cop bust. take a look. deputies say this guy used handcuffs and even this fake badge to get his way with one man. and they fear there could be more victims out there. here' s shaun chaiyabhat. >> reporter: deputies say when the suspect came here to this house, he had a badge and handcuffs intimidating that victim to hand over his car keys. he goes by detective santiago with the orlando police department. his badge looks real and paired with handcuffs, deputies say umberto javier santiago put on a good game impersonating a cop. deputies say it started at this orlando car dealership where santiago got paid under the table as an unlicenced and unofficial repo man. the owner paid him cash to pick up a car from this point sienna home, but deputies say how he did it crossed the line.

s owner with jail time saying it was stolen and he needed to hand over the keys. >> i mean ask him why the reason, surely. i wouldn' t really know a proper police officer looks like. he' s got a gun and got a badge, then i take it he' s a policeman, so. >> reporter: after hearing what happened, neighbors are relieved to see this man in jail thanks to the victim who was scared but knew something wasn' t right and reported his car stolen. now deputies need to know if there are any other victims of this man' s intimidation. shaun chaiyabhat, news 6. >> justin: and if you think you were targeted by santiago, call the osceola county sheriff' s office or the crime line at 1- 800- 423- tips. north of the border police say 4 people were shot dead and several injured friday at a school in a small town in northern saskatchewan.

they received a call that a weapon had been discharged at laloche community school. when officers arrived, we' re told they quickly arrested the suspect. canadian prime minister justin trudeau later addressed the nation calling it a terrible, tragic day. >> the community is reeling and all of us across this country' s hearts are going to the families and to the whole community. >> justin: right now they haven' t released any information about the suspect or the victims. deputies continue their search this morning for the gunman who shot a man at an apartment complex near ucf. we told you about this as breaking news yesterday morning. it happened at the marquis apartments along sterling university lane. deputies say a dispute between 2 men led to shots being fired. the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

underwent a name change after a string of robberies and a pledge to improve security. they' re going through camera footage and working with detectives on the investigation. in volusia county a property appraiser' s office has temporarily closed its doors. this after an employee was accosted trying to get to work friday morning. it happened at the daytona beach office on north beach street. according to property appraiser morgan gilreef, the woman was looking through her purse for the key card to get into the building. that' s when a homeless man approached her at a fast pace. the woman' s co- worker saw the guy and called out to her. the man then turned around and bumped into the woman. he now says he' s moving about 40 employees to other offices. >> the employees in this building should not be afraid to come to work. they should not feel intimidated and i' m simply taking my people out of any potential harm' s way.

in orlando. officials at oia say 77 flights were cancelled last night. another 100 were delayed. we checked this morning and only one cancellation and delayed flight. to track flights throughout the weekend, head over to clickorlando.com we put a flight tracker on the home page to keep you up to speed. and from the blizzard in the midatlantic to wild weather in texas. this incredible video shows just how dangerous lightning can be. watch as a bolt strikes a tree. the impact sent a burst of flames shooting from the tree, scattering debris. it was all caught on a school security video. luckily here no one was hurt. now to jacksonville where deputies there are looking for the person who stole this. a trailer with a giant mobile led screen. the theft was caught on camera. they say it was taken from a production company. surveillance video shows a pickup truck pull into the parking lot. moments later it is seen driving down the road with the

>> justin: tax season has arrived, and believe it or not, good news. there are bonus days to file! here' s jill from new york. >> reporter: tax season began last week and before you start to groan, there' s actually some good news. due to a local district of columbia holiday, you get 3 extra days to file! yep! the deadline is april 18th rather than the traditional 15th. that doesn' t mean you should dawdle. get organized by starting a file and then be on the lookout for all of the tax documents that are rolling in. w- 2s by the end of this month. banks, investment, mutual fund and companies will send tax documents by midfebruary though many forms are available online earlier. they should review credit card summaries and checking accounts for donations like charitable use last year' guide to what'

the i.r.s. said that last year 85% of taxpayers filed electronically which is more accurate than using a paper return. the agency says fewer than 1% of electronic returns prepare for the paper returns. so if you can, try to e- file. using technology is also the fastest way to get a refund. that' s an important point considering 3 quarters of taxpayers get money back. then it is going to the total of 2800 dollars. if you earn 62,000 dollars or less, you can use free online software from the i.r.s. to prepare and file your federal taxes. put irs.gov and search for free file. those that earn more can use the free forms but not the free software. in new york, i' m jill schlesinger. >> justin: good tips there. the blast of snow and ice descended on carolina saturday
