road 1 and u.s. 46. eric sandoval is live with the breaking details. >> brevard county sheriffs investigators are still here on the scene. i want to have our photographer push in close here. we're on pineapple avenue off state road 46 and u.s. 1. they're trying to retrace the steps of what happened and they're trying to figure out what would cause the couple to attack these two deputies. let's show you video from earlier from sky 6. brevard county sheriffs investigators say the deputies, a man and woman, responded to this house after getting a call. they heard some commotion in the back and when they went to investigate, a man came out, clobbered one of the them in the head with a collapsible baton. the other deputy tackled the man, only to have the female accomplice tackle the deputy who was on top of him. police and deputies from several agencies came here to help. a neighbor says he was on his way home when somebody called

happening on his street. here's more. >> we have some incidents where people have been chased and stolen cars and you can hear the helicopter following them but not something like this. >> the deputy was taken to holmes regional medical center. sheriff ivy was out here a short time ago. he says both deputies are expect to be okay. right now, we're waiting to find out who this couple is and, more importantly, what they may be charged with as a result. we're working to get those answers right now. we'll bring them to you as soon as we get them. we're live in mims this evening, eric sandoval, news 6. back to you. >> quickly, do you know have deputies been called to the address before and have they had any other problems? >> we asked sheriff ivy that we, actually. he said this is the very first time they've been called to this address. they didn't know of this couple before. coming up at 5:00, we're going to tell you that even though this already happened, the brevard county commission

>> we'll tell you why, coming up at 5:00. >> eric sandoval reporting live tonight. thank you. >> we're staying on top of breaking news in orange county where a bomb threat against a jewish community center has just been lifted. we sent you the push alert through our wkmg app as soon as we found out it was lifted. around 10:00 this morning, maitland police say a man with a robotic voice called saying there was a device planted to take out a large number of children at the roth family jewish community center. the school was evacuated and the students were taken to another school just around the corner. a canine is sniffing the area to see if they can find anything. the call came in from a private number so authorities are still trying to find out who is behind all this. >> in south florida, the mire academy in palm beach gardens was evacuated while bomb-sniffing dogs searched the area. no bombs have been found. maitland police are going to compare this incident after everything is settled.

first told you about earlier this year. that's when orange county switched to new automated trash pickup system. news 6's troy campbell went out to find out how they're working to get results for the community. >> yeah. so this is one of those packets that were passed out to more than 200,000 homes explaining the new trash system, how it works. on the flyer it even says, one of the benefits, a cleaner neighborhood. after thousands of people called the county saying their trash was not being picked up on time, the orange county commission is now asking the question, "what's going on?" >> i would say we're doing very well to everybody getting the service and failing to the people who are not. >> standing before the orange county commission, solid waste division manager jim becker outlining some of the problems with the county's new trash pickup system, consisting of new equipment, bins, routers and haulers, saying 60,000 calls

a few days saying their trash is not picked up. >> we're going from a system that was in place for 14 years where people had their schedules set and actually knew what time the guy was coming. >> becker telling the commission, of the five collection zones in the county, only one is being serviced by the same provider, meaning the majority of homeowners have a new you collector altogether with employees learning a new system. >> they have new trucks they're getting used to. some of the trucks have mechanical issues. all kinds of different, little things add up to a big problem. >> news 6 has been showing you all month long, homeowners saying their trash hadn't been picked up or hadn't received a new trash bin at all. becker says the problem with slow trash removal in the county is widespread. so a particular hauling company is not to blame. the four trash removal companies had almost six months to prepare for the new trash rollout. he met with them yesterday about the issue of slow pickups, adding the companies are

>> more than 4 in 10 republican voters nationwide say they back donald trump in the new poll. it's the first time trump has topped the 40% mark. he captured 41% of the people who participated and followed by senator ted cruz with 19%. no other candidates hit double didn't. the poll shows the businessman is likely the next g.o.p. nominee. it comes just days before the iowa caucuses where democrats gathered last night, but not for a debate. they took questions directly from voters in a town hall. bernie sanders and hillary clinton both trying their best to set themselves apart. >> i voted against the war in iraq. hillary clinton voted for the war in iraq. i led the effort against wall street deregulation. see where hillary clinton was on

and the southeast as we go through the night tonight. eventually we're going to run out of room. we'll have a squeeze put on us by one moisture package after another. this is future radar. you can see the way the rain is starting to propagate this way and some of the rain coming this way is on the way, too. we get slapped around with moisture before dawn tomorrow more likely than not. daytime highs were primo. we hit 75 degrees in sanford. 75 in orlando and the same in kissimmee, leesburg and the villages and finally 73 here in ocala. 71 did it in gainesville and 72 at the cape. where are we now? a little bit lower than that. not too bad. 73 is the reading in sanford. 74 in leesburg and 75 at the villages and at the cape, we're at 71. wind support from the east at 6 miles per hour. in orlando, a 9-mile-an-hour wind in kissimmee. satellite and radar together,

>> here's the heavier areas of rain coming our way during the next 24 to 48 hours. a big cold front is marching in. here's the way it breaks out hour by hour. by tomorrow morning, 5 a.m., meteorologist troy bridges will be tracking lighter stuff. by 9:00 tomorrow morning from marion county and western volusia, a few heavier showers. it's in the afternoon tomorrow the first slap of the big rough stuff rumbles in here. by 2 p.m., a line of activity from tampa to just south of the villages, right over top of seminole county out to the cape tomorrow. and then by 4 in the afternoon, look at the big bull's-eye on top of you in melbourne. you're kind of in a slot there or a position where you're going to get a lot of rain in southern brevard county. it will continue into the night tomorrow night. and then on thursday, the front elongates through here and we have another active rain day, at least, though the storm coverage doesn't look to be as huge. still rain is coming down on thursday.

cover to get through. this is a precursor of what we're going through in the next 24 hours. frontal zone lingers to the west. a dry slot of air from memphis to wichita. that's the cold front coming in. a couple of things to keep in mind. it doesn't come in overnight, which is fine with me. b, it's not going to usher in super cold air. the cold front is not nearly as strong as the last couple. we're tracking a few speckles of rain off the coast of brevard county. we'll start to run out of room as the evening moves on and more scattered showers will come in and we'll watch for the big moisture pump to come in during the day tomorrow. the temperatures are in the 70's everywhere except along the coast. palm coast has 68 and 68 in cocoa beach. on-the-town forecast, this is a great night. don't let the cloud cover that's building in fool you. it is a good night. by 8 p.m., we'll still be holding -- excuse me, by 6 p.m.

place for a brand-new 20-acre development at lake concord park across from the city hall and busy 1792. it will include new luxury apartments, along with restaurants and a park and playground. news 6 johnny fernandez went to find out the bigger vision for the development. >> leaders and developers tell me this project has been in the works more than a decade. the goal is to make casselberry more of a destination for families and they plan to do this by putting in apartments and restaurants. >> community leaders say the concord park development project is the city's biggest project. >> today is like a dream come true. >> the new 20-acre development will bring luxury apartments to the area, four restaurants and parks where events can be held. the goal is not only to attract families but businesses and more visitors to casselberry. >> for the people, it's going to

>> we have a lot of things they're going to be able to have in their own environment without even getting in their cars. >> project organizers say they've had to find the right developers and business owners for over a decade for this project to help deal with a number of issues, including a growing muck in the area, by creating lakes for waterview buildings. >> we will get a buyback in for people in the whole area. >> it will be the catalyst for so much more growth. this is only the beginning. >> the developers of this project tell me phase 1 of the development should be done sometime next year. >> >> and developers say the project costs an estimated $33 million. >> also developing this afternoon, disney is facing two big lawsuits right now. >> yeah, the company is accused of conspiring to replace american workers with immigrants. two former workers say they were

workers. both were among the 250 i.t. workers laid off at walt disney world last january. the federal lawsuits were filed against disney and two global consulting companies. the suits claim the companies conspired to break the law by using temporary visas to bring in immigrant workers, knowing that americans would be replaced. in a statement, disney says the lawsuits are, quote, "based on an unsustainable legal theory and wholesale misrepresentation of the facts." more than 100 of the workers laid off in orlando have been rehired by the company says disney. >> a missing child alert for two children who vanished from indian river county. >> investigators are asking people across the state to keep an eye out for them. take a look. investigators are trying to find the 4-year-old and 10-month-old girl. they're believed to be with their father and his girlfriend, maria lopez. the father is a suspect in a

>> some big medical news just out this afternoon. a new call to screen all adults for depression. >> a task force that advises the federal government now recommends primary-care physicians check on all their patients who are 18 and older. the recommendation includes older adults, pregnant women, and new mothers. they want adults with a history of depression screened every visit. those with chronic illnesses, at least once a year. people in good health who sporadically see a doctor at every visit. it's estimated that nearly 7% of american adults have had one major depressive episode last year. >> ford is recalling 391,000 ranger pickups because of faulty airbags.

2004 to 2006. the government recently expanded a takata airbag recall to include 5 million more vehicles after a driver was killed when an airbag inflator on his 2006 ranger exploded with too much force. >> well, a relentless bear caught on camera, getting into a de bary family's trash. now they're hoping the video will push the city to take action and get results for their safety. in case you missed this video last night at 11:00, it's pretty incredible. joe hannon told news 6 his cans have two latches and were even tied to a bar outside. but that did not stop the bear at all this past weekend. he wants the city to buy bearproof trash cans for homeowners. seminole county leaders just recently made the expensive bearproof cans mandatory in some years. but homeowners have to pay for them. there's no word from de bary leaders if they will consider any changes.

it's not 34. 73 in orlando and 74 in ocala and 74 in leesburg. temperature readings across the area from daytona beach to palm coast, 67 to 68. titusville, you're reporting at 66. melbourne has 70. wind speeds, much of the wind right now is either from the east or the southeast. that's kind of the drill for tonight. winds will be easterly, 5 to 10, and then southeast as the time wears on and southwest through part of the day tomorrow. here's what's happening. see the moisture spraying up the coast? that's your first chance for rain. second chance for rain, here from the gulf of mexico. third shot here, and then when the cold front finally comes through on thursday, that's when we'll start to dry it out. we'll scour away the cloud cover, push the rain chances out. by 5:00 tomorrow morning, we'll have some preliminary light rain going on here in central florida. by 10 a.m., heavier showers from ocala to western volusia. into the afternoon is when it really rocks. i'll be here early tomorrow. we'll have scattered showers from volusia county to seminole

sumpter county into the afternoon. by 5 p.m. tomorrow, look how long brevard county is under the rain. you're going to end up with inches of new rain in brevard county tomorrow. hopefully you'll still need that as we go through the day on thursday. the rain slackens off a bit. brevard county looks like the winner of the rain lotto for thursday as well. overnight lows tonight are hovering somewhere in the 50's or low 60's. calling leesburg 61. official forecast in orlando, mild, rain develops late night. the overnight low is 62. here's tomorrow. first thing tomorrow morning, the temperature reading is 62. by noon, 68. tracking storms between midday and the afternoon with a high of 73 degrees. temperature reading on thursday, bounces back to only 68. and then friday, we're clear, drier, and we're a little bit cooler, too. the high on friday is 64. saturday, beautiful. 68. warmer on sunday with a high of 72. if you could just hang on with
