tonight, parents looking for answers after threats and increased patrols at their kid's school. we start tonight, though, with a crime tracker alert. good evening, i'm matt austin. >> and i'm lisa bell. cars targeted by thieves. they took anything. guns and iphones and even jewelry. at least nine cars hit on sheli court, shirr wood circle and long bow road. let's go to jennifer ortega. she's live tonight. were unlocked. >> reporter: police say it was a crime of opportunity. the thieves hit up dozens of homes by just walking up to doors and opening up the doors

>> i had a bunch of jewelry, earrings, bracelets, all right here. >> reporter: she says it's an unsettling feeling to know her and her husband's car were roan into overnight in here drive way, all while her family was sleeping. >> i felt uncomfortable in my own car. i felt violated like someone you know, is capable of taking your stuff. i won't think twice about leaving it unlocked. >> reporter: police say the burglaries happened monday night into tuesday morning. first on kelly court and shirr wood circle and long bow road. all three streets just minutes away from each other. >> all of the vehicles left unsecured. and there were two victims that left firearms in the vehicle. and unlocked vehicle. >> it's scary knowing there are more guns out there. >> reporter: they say they took wallets, beguns, knives, anything they could get their hands on. but most concerning to the

car and a handgun left by this man. >> it's not an easy thought to bring at all. especially with a three-year-old in the house. >> reporter: during our interview, a neighbor notice add cell phone lying in the front yard that wasn't there before and called police. we were there when officers came out to bag the sell. hoping it could be used for evidence. >> we hammer this message home all the time. lock your vehicles and remove all the valuables. don't give the criminal an opportunity to steal your things. >> they do tell us there is surveillance video from one of the homes showing the thieves on cam ruschelit they're still trying to identify those people. they're looking for 3-4 people if you have any information, you're asked to call police. lisa? thank you. now to the school's safety concerns we told you about threats at the middle school. >> some parents say it is not enough. they met with school leaders and police hoping to find out what

school. news 6's sashell saunders is there. what's the latest? >> reporter: tonight's meeting lasted nearly three hours. there were concerns about gangs, fights, as well as an alleged kill list. and parents in fear for their children administers trying to assure them they have it all under control. >> (speaking simultaneously). >> i need (inaudible). >> reporter: tempers flairing as parents demand answers from the middle school principle about rumors of student attacks, lunchtime fights and an alleged gang calling themselves 5k. >> i also need to make sure that i maintain privacy for myself. >> maintain privacy -- tell us the nature of the altercation.

over the weekend when principle left a school wide voice mail telling parents that they would see extra security this week. but no other details. in response, parents kept nearly 100 of their students out of class. >> (indiscernible). >> reporter: principle shames calling the incidents typical medical school behavior. admitting she told police to investigate a post on social media from a group calling themselves 5k. using a gun emojy, threatening to fight a student that. later found that students were safe and no real gang existed. but parents weren't buying it. >> but for you to immediately, when i say is there going to be more police presence, you said why. i think that's an absolutely absurd question. >> reporter: police in the school district administrate backing the principles said measurements were in place to monitor the kids and they were doing everything necessary to

>> it's not a rampant problem. it's not (indiscernible). so we have worked (inaudible). >> reporter: now the school does have a regular police resource officer who works in the building. but to further assure parents orange county deputies said they would do an assessment of the school and parents are saying they will form a committee to help with any issues that are going on in the school. reporting live in may land, sashell saunders news 6. thank you. tonight the university of central florida is getting major support for a downtown campus. the city of orlando is pledging $75 million in support to ucs. there are stipulations. in the deal, they'll hand over $20 million in land. a center for emerging media. the taxpayers would also pay for millions in buildings improvements and parking to

the land that would be handed over is at 15 acres. the deal is set to be presented to city leaders on monday. and it is contingent on a downtown campus getting a i provell for a state board of governors. funding was vetoed last year. >> new tonight, hacked. 100s of well known restaurants. lan drays says its credit card system was hacked from march of 2014 until december of last year. eight of its restaurants are in central florida. here's a list. bubba gump shrimp. lan dray's seafood. more tan stake house, ocean air seafood room and a yak and a yetty. that one's at disney's animal kingdom. account numbers have been use ed to make large purchases at best buy and target and other retailers. they're urging customers to monitor statements. we posted the breeches on our

just search for landry's. seminal county teachers want better pay and benefits. they stood outside the administration building. they protested before the school board meeting. and took their grievances inside. new hampshire is the new battleground in the race to the white house. the first in the nation's primary is a little more than a week away. hillary clinton is campaigning hard in the state after a razor thin victory over bernie sanders. >> in a contest with your neighbor. i have the highest respect for him. we're in his backyard. >> this is a national election. we're going to go to state after state after state after state. her camp has more work to do

time voters. 84% of iowa voters under the age of 40 supported sanders. republican candidate ted ted is riding high after his big win in iowa. but donald trump is counting on new hampshire to be his come back state. former senator marco rubio is positioning himself to atrack mainstream gop voters. >> i give us the best chance, not just to unify the party. this is important. but also to grow it. rubio finished third in the caucus, right on trump's heels. right now an orange county deputy is recovering after crashing his vehicle. the florida high way patrol are was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. his emergency lights and sirens were on at the time of the crash. troopers say a car pulled out in front of him on oak ridge. charges are pending against that driver.

two people have been shot along cypress woods. orlando. police say the two victims have been taken to the hospital. we do not have any word yet on their conditions. >> tomorrow night at 11 -- a news 6:00 information. a couple all they wanted was a new bed. instead, they were out thousands of dollars. >> i have no electric bed. i have no mattress or nothing. but they have my money. a company accused of wrong doing in the past has new complaints. the state's investigation into the company. and louis bowling gets result by helping a couple get their money back. now to a rare siting. a crocodile lounging near the water. and not the ones you see at the zoo. this 12 goat crocodile spotted in cape coral. he's been sunning himself at a small beach right by the cal caal there. mouth wide open. they've never seen crocks here before.
