through the day today. today you can expect the 70's, finally. today we are starting off cool enough for a jacket. we'll warm quickly with a lot of sunshine. 45 in orlando. 46 in daytona beach. and 50 in the villages. look at the sunny afternoon. we get up to 74 by 4:00. we'll take you through the valentine's day weekend and even president's day if you are lucky enough to have that day off. head over to amy in the napleton traffic center. busy this morning. >> very busy, especially accessing the major roadways. first off, really for those mornings that once you hit the major roads, your i-4's, your i-95's, you are ok. no major issues coming up in either direction. all of the other majors are moving along steady despite construction which the daytime projects should be picking up shortly.

eastbound on i-4, no significant delays. that's your check on traffic for right now. back to you. >> developing right now, thousands of drivers will run into a detour. >> crews shut down southbound lanes of 17/92 in maitland for construction. for that closure, it is going to last all weekend long and already backups and delays. it is happening north of lee road where the railroad tracks cross over the busy road. news 6 reporter kirsten o'connor is live at that clear, it started a few hours ago, how is it looking sings you have been there? >> we have seen quite a few cars coming through this morning, not much of a backup. last night during rush hour, we did see a lot of cars backed up, right around here near park avenue. that's where the flashing lights are. the real test will be when all those drivers heading into

are making their morning commute. >> it is a terrible inconvenience. >> after bad weather caused a project delay in january, a major detour begins. the florida department of transportation has closed southbound lanes of 17/92 wean park and monroe avenues. construction crews are working under the railroad bridge to replace concrete slabs with asphalt. detours lead southbound drivers from lame to wiemer and back around on lee road. another route takes drivers from maitland to i-4. both will put cars back on 192. many drivers who use the road to avoid traffic are bracing for delays. >> try to miss an accident on i-4 is to head to 17/92. southbound lanes are closed in the morning, it will exact how our travel goes. i have no alternate route to get

deputies are collecting guns, no questions asked. mark, deputies are hoping for a big response. >> reporter: david, nearly 120 guns were collected last year. they are hoping to exceed that number this year. that's why 12 hours have been set aside for the gun buyback. you can see a sign is up directing people on where to go along orange blossom trail. deputies are preparing to get streets. >> with a violent and deadly start to 2016, the orange county sheriff's office says it is vital now more than ever to get illegal and unwanted guns off the streets. just a month into the new year, more than a dozen people killed by gun violence in orange county. that includes a gun battle that unfolded over the weekend at the glitz lounge. two killed and several injured. deputies will be giving away $50

unwanted gun, no questions asked and no i.d. required. last august a similar buyback took 119 guns off the streets. deputies say every single gun collected here is one less that could potentially be used for violence. >> the buyback comes on the anniversary of two years of a deputy being killed. >> this event is at the obt development board office, north of i-4. the buyback runs from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 this evening. >> there is a crime alert in orange county this morning after a woman was robbed at an atm. the attack happened late last night on hiawassee road north of silver star. deputies believe a teen boy walked up to a 19-year-old woman, pulled out a gun and took cash from her. he then ran off.

crime, call the sheriff's office. >> an alleged rapist who has been on the road for some 20 years. police think he is using the names of dead people to stay out of sight. police put up this picture of doug adams who may look like this the. he was charged with four counts of raping a child under 12 years old. he wasn't charged until 1996 and he has been on the run ever since. this latest picture was taken in 2004 when he called himself robert dean willy. police say he stole that identity from a dead man. police are convinced he may have taken other fake names. if you recognize him or know where he may be, call police or 1-800-423-tips. >> a seminole county neighborhood is on edge this morning. a couple of weeks ago we showed you this picture of thieves rummaging through unlocked cars.

take a look. you can see two guys walk up to a home on red pepper loop and look into a car. a black car pulls up and the guys throw their things into the back of the car and peel away. neighbors say they are fed up. >> i work hard. i don't feel like people have the right to take things from someone else who works hard for it. it is personal belongings. it is a violation of your space and a violation of just how you feel feel. >> police were in the neighborhood. they questioned him and they took fingers prints. no arrests were made. >> fwc workers had a meeting to discuss everything from what coyotes eat to what pet owners

this meeting came after neighbors were worried following several coyote appearances in indian harbor and satellite beaches. police say city -- they say the animals are here to stay. >> a mom is worried dangerous drivers are putting people at risk. we showed you this video of drivers ignoring the flashing stop sign. we took the video to police. once they were notified of the problem, they set up patrols. >> it is amazing something happened that fast. >> angie says it is a relief to see police handing out tickets for something like this. police say they'll continue to keep an eye on this bus stop to keep the children there safe. it just takes a second for something bad to happen.

murdering two people says he believes his mother was the real target. davis died after shooting two deputies. his son told a baltimore tv station his mom was at the same restaurant. she believes evans was there to hurt her and she called police before the shooting happened. >> being a 68-year-old man, he probably saw the rest of his life was in jail. >> police say they approached evans during a traffic stop in this parking lot. he took off and was not seen again. >> police are working to track down a driver who hit the side of a building and took off. it happened just off u.s. 1 and state road 400. take a look. south daytona police say the driver ran the stop sign and slammed into the concrete block wall leaving a kitchen littered with debris. neighbors say this is the fourth
