sign of baby willow. >> underneath these manhole covers are miles of city sewer. crews came out to make sure there's no sign of a missing baby girl. >> police say her mother, 30-year-old susan richardson, got rid of the baby after she

city crews used this large camera and sent it down into three different manholes. they used a remote control and tv monitors here. you can see it steering through 200 feet of sewer pipeline. they wanted to make sure they weren't missing anything in the search for this infant. >> when they were done with the first location, they went to the next, just across the street. and again they got the camera ready to drop it back down into the sewer system. there was one point where crews thought they found something. they brought in a specialized truck to flush out something that was blocking the camera's path. it turned out to be nothing. >> orlando's search and rescues were out here yesterday, search is the apartment complex and the fields for baby willow. they were not out here today. i asked orlando police about that and see what they had to tell me, coming up at 5:00. >> thank you, eric.

back after the pope says his plan to build a wall along the mexican border, quote, "is not christian." >> the republican frontrunner responded this afternoon and, julie, in true trump fashion, did he not hold back. >> this all started while the pope was flying back from his visit to mexico. he responded to a question about trump's pledge and stated a person who thinks only about building walls and not about building bridges is not christian and trump immediately spoke out during a rally in south carolina. >> for a religious leader to disgraceful. if and when the vatican is attacked by isis, which as everyone knows is isis' ultimate trophy, i can promise you that the pope would have only wished and prayed that donald trump would have been president. >> another comment the pope made before heading back to rome, surrounding the zika virus. the leader of the catholic church seeming to suggestion

prevent transmitting the mosquito-borne zika virus. a lot of people are sounding off about that as well. read more about the pope's update and his trouble with trump on facebook.com/news 6. again, he's on his way back to the vatican. >> right now, fans are getting ready for the big race weekend at the daytona 500. >> yeah, they sure are. the fun starts tonight with the can am dual showdown. chief meteorologist tom sorrells is pinpointing the forecast for the big crowds out there tonight, tom. >> it's going to be awesome. i'm so excited. it's the best weather we've had for race week since i was a boy. we've not had a race week like this in ages. radar tonight is just as clear as it can be. no echoes coming in from the ocean. none rolling in from the north. there's no cold air in place. there's nothing to mess up the race weekend. cross your fingers that everything goes really well. daytime highs are off the mark from what we established yesterday. we made it to 68 in gainesville

maxed-out at 72 from orlando to kissimmee and 70 did it in the villages and 72 in melbourne. on-the-town forecast is going to come up next, we've got temperatures in the 70's across the area in central florida right now. this evening, we go down to 69 degrees by 6 p.m. and by 7:00, we'll be holding at 66. it's going to be clear and nice throughout the night tonight. it's kind of going to be my forecast for the next couple of days. i'll be back to pinpoint how warm things are going to be and what the entire race weekend looks like. see you in a few. >> thank you, tom. through evidence after a shooting that left two men dead. >> right now, investigators are saying they're not looking for any suspects, but some neighbors are still concerned. >> now, the shooting happened late last night on come stock avenue, walking distance from park avenue and not far from rawlins college. justin warmoth is joining us live from the area. have you been able to get any

>> winter park police are still being tight-lipped about this investigation. in fact, they haven't given us anything new since last night. within the last 30 minutes or so, more investigators have come back out here to the scene. they rewrapped it in crime scene tape and right now they're looking for evidence, all of this happening while nervous neighbors look on. >> we're walking distance from park avenue and a nice part of town. we've never had any problems here. >> she lives just a few doors down from where winter park police say two men were found shot to death just before 10:00 last night. in fact, she says she was eating dinner when she first heard gunshots and then sirens. >> it's just something you only see on the news. no one expects to open the door and see that right across the street. so it's pretty scary. >> investigators with both the winter park police department and orange county sheriff's office gathered evidence throughout the night and into this afternoon. you can see bullet holes and two of the vehicles parked in the yard, right where we're told one man was found dead. the other, investigators say,

a few feet away. >> i walk my dog down there, like every day. i'm kind of out and about. so kind of scary, you know. it's kind of looking over our shoulder a little bit more. >> all that noise, him and his girlfriend's son got into an argument earlier in the day and later on it turned into a shoot-out. >> he was friends with one of the men. he says his buddy had just moved into the home and was getting his life back together when all this happened. >> it happened like this maybe 20, 25 years ago. >> another live look as investigators look for more evidence here at the winter park home. it's important to note again that they say they're not looking for any suspects in this case right now. it always the two men were shooting at each other. however, that has yet to be confirmed by police. we're expected to get some more information within the next hour or so. i'll have another live update for you at 5:00. for now, we're live in winter park, justin warmoth, news 6.

developing right now, troopers say the man accused of hitting a jogger and driving away has now hired a lawyer. investigators say the 39-year-old man was hit and killed while out for a morning jog on satellite boulevard near state road 520. we're told the owner of the gray jeep cherokee in question had his attorney contact troopers after the jeep was found yesterday. troopers say it has damage consistent with the crash. state forensics investigators are combing over the suv, looking for evidence right now. >> it has damage on the left front consistent with the damage in this crash. the parts that were left at the scene are parts that are missing from the left front of this vehicle. we have been in contact with the owner, via a lawyer. >> troopers are not saying much about where that suv was found. only saying that it is in their possession. we'll let you know as soon as we learn more. >> well, tonight, dramatic video

>> a cat was lucky to use eight more lives thanks to local firefighters. >> matt austin is joining us with video and pictures showing the cat coming back to life. >> it makes your heart hurt in the beginning but the little furry guy pulls through. >> cocoa police found it unconscious during a house fire, that ball of fur right there, the homeowner was not there last night when it happened. another cat managed to get out just fine. this guy needed some help here. firefighters jumped in and gave it oxygen. you can see it jolts up and then it seems to be fine. investigators say the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause is still being investigated. it's amazing to me. we have these stories all the time. they don't just treat people anymore. they can save your cat, your dog, your parakeet. >> their like veterinarians and firefighters all in one. >> they're so many things rolled into one. it's lovely to see that. thank you, matt. >> my pleasure.

69 right now in cocoa beach. wind speeds kind of all over the board. again we've got a 12-mile-an-hour wind in palm coast and 15-mile-an-hour wind in orlando and 14 in kissimmee and 17-mile-an-hour wind right now in melbourne. the water vapor loop tells the story of how dry we've been today. it's been primo. lots of blue sky and dry air in place. not much cloud cover. that's trying to change. look at that big batch of clouds being gobbled up by the dry air moving in from dallas. that's going to be a player in our forecast siren -- eventually. winds tonight are 10 to 15, gusting sometimes up to 20. during the day tomorrow, the clouds begin to take back over. there will be a chance for a coastal spritz of rain. otherwise i think the dry air really heats up all of the moisture. this is what it looks like by saturday 4 p.m. i believe we'll turn around on sunday and have a repeat of what we had on saturday.

overnight low tonight, 52 will do it in sanford. the official forecast in orlando, still going to call it mostly clear. a few more clouds are beginning to show up. for the most part, the flavor of the night is that it's really clear and right on the money for where we ought to be for a february overnight low in orlando. the low, 53. here's tomorrow. >> first thing in the morning, 55. by noon, we're back to 70. there's our daytime high tomorrow starting to ramp it up. we go to 74 for a daytime high tomorrow. overnight low tomorrow night, 53. check out saturday, 71. sunday's daytime high, bam, all the way up to 77 degrees monday, 78. that's when things really start to change. next system rolls in with big rain chances for late monday into tuesday. and some of that will linger into wednesday and one week from today, we're so much cooler with a high of 68. >> tom, thank you. tonight we're working to find out more about the woman killed in an i-4 crash.

yesterday during rush hour near the attractions. troopers say a truck rear-ended a toyota, which then hit another truck which hit another car in the westbound lanes there near world drive. investigators say the woman in the toyota died, but so far her name has not been released. >> ahead at 4:00, airplane seats turned into benches. >> yeah, where you can see the change in your next flight. >> yeah, that sounds like a lot of fun. my favorite day of the week. here's what i'm working on for tonight at news 6, getting results awards segment. >> i grew up like a lot of these children. i said i would always give back and pass along what someone was kind enough to give to me. >> and she has done that tenfold. did you have a mentor growing up, someone to help guide you, teach you life lessons? tonight we feature someone whose organization is doing just that. she's providing mentors to at-risk kids and she's definitely getting results. i'll have her uplifting story

>> this go-around, nothing doing. check out the cloud cover tonight. give the folks a big close-up view what i'm stalking out here. skies are here and this is a visible satellite. you can see the cloud streaks forming over the open waters. the clouds begin to line up. it's not bad at all in central florida. as a matter of fact, two thumbs up on the day today. it was a 9 on the sorrells scale. i think we nailed it again. no echoes on radar, not much cloud cover. it's been a pretty good run. overnight low this morning dropped to 50 in orlando, 46 did it in the villages. daytime highs today in the 70's until you get over to the coast. the daytime high in daytona beach was 67 degrees. tonight, here's the on-the-town forecast. we'll drop down to 58 by 9:00. by 10 p.m., 57. i'll be right back to pinpoint overnight lows and we'll look all the way through the weekend, part of the weekend is cooler, part of it is really warm. i'll show you which parts match up and what it means for the race a little later.

we're following breaking news right now. we have learned st. cloud high school is still on lockdown, two hours after school was supposed to let out. >> this all started with fights at the school and rumors of a threat on social media. >> news 6 reporter amanda castro is live there now. any idea why police are waiting so long to lift that lockdown? >> well, they are going room by room, checking out the school to make sure everything is all clear before lifting the lockdown and letting students go back to their parents. i want to show you down the street, cars lining the streets, parents standing outside waiting anxiously to hear anything about their kids and this lockdown. police say so far everything is clear. this afternoon there was a threat on social media about an act of violence happening at the school and then earlier today the principal sent out a call to parents alerting them of another rumor about a weapon being brought to school. police say both of those rumors are not true. st. cloud police did have extra officers on hand today because

amount of fighting here going on this week. three fights on campus. three confrontations that required school officials to break it up and then another fight off campus. so a lot of concern going on here. again, students have been inside the school on lockdown for about two hours after their dismissal. we're waiting to get the all-clear before the parents can pick them up. back to you guys. >> thank you, amanda. governor rick scott was here to announce last year's tourist numbers. >> we had 105 million tourists visiting the sunshine state. >> mark lehman was at epcot where a new goal was set. >> with the record-breaking tourism numbers in 2015, the governor found it appropriate to make the announcement here at walt disney world resort and is setting his sights on a bigger number this year. >> the 105 million mark beats the goal of 100 million tourists

it's a record number of people visiting the sunshine state. he's hoping to shatter the goal in 16. >> the new goal is 115 million visitors in florida this year. >> he credits the legislature giving more money to market the state. >> those friends are going home and telling friends and family what a great time they had at disney and around florida. >> the question is can florida keep up the pace? >> how sustainable is that? >> we should expect more tourism. we have the best weather, we have people that love people coming here, we have big investments in our state. >> the governor is also highlighting record funding for transportation. but with six beaches recently rated top 10 in the country, perhaps the state's natural resources remain its best asset. >> we have the best thing to market. look at our weather, look at our beaches. look at our parks.

all those things together mean we'll get more tourists. >> at walt disney world resort, mark lehman, news 6. >> there's good news for foodies this afternoon. >> fans of epcot's international food and wine festival have even longer to enjoy this year's festivities. >> that is awesome news. the annual festival will run for 62 days this year. that's more than a full week longer than last year. disney did not announce any new items or national marketplaces for the 2016 festival, in its 21st year. the festival is included in regular epcot admission but you have to, of course, still pay for all that delicious food. the event kicks off on september 14th and wraps up november 14th. >> the three of us should go there, one day. >> that's fun. >> separately. that's trouble, the three of us together somewhere. >> all right, we have details on the news 6 facebook page. >> a lot of people are sharing

nothing has changed, and the problem has only grown. >> i mean, i've actually seen kids go inside. i'm like, "hey, don't do that. it's dangerous." they'll look at me like -- >> since that day she says her adult home care business has been paying for the problem. >> all the people who come for an interview for a health assessment, they ask what happened to that. it's really ugly. so that's why i feel like it affects my business. >> city commissioners say after the home went into foreclosure and the owner passed away, all banks and mortgage companies are now required to register the properties with the city and pay a fee, which is helping get rid of several vacant houses in the city. >> rather have the house fixed up and people living in it and paying taxes and being a part of our community than to have to go to this extreme. this one is our first one. we have three more scheduled. we couldn't be happier from the response we've gotten from the community on it.

last night at 11:00. >> authorities say he performed a physical exam on an undercover agent without a valid medical license. this teen really went all out here. >> we're all just shaking our heads about how something like this could happen. with a white lab coat and stethoscope, he may look like a young physician. police say otherwise. the 18-year-old posted bail and spoke briefly at a press conference last night. >> i had some great supporters and those who said some negative things. everyone is entitled to their opinion and, once again, i'm not upset. >> he opened the new birth lives medical center and urgent care in west palm beach. the grand opening celebration even advertised on facebook on the practice's website. the teen is listed as a doctor with a ph.d. who treats and cares for patient. his grandfather didn't even know what was going on. >> does he have a ph.d.? well, from what i hear, they

online. i don't know. >> in october, love robinson was cited by the florida department of health to cease and desist practicing medicine without holding an active license. love robinson also apparently made house calls. an 86-year-old woman told police the teen visited her house when she was sick and he told her that she needed to go to a hospital. >> such a bizarre story. thank you. >> breaking right now, orlando police just made another arrest in a mass shooting that left 10 people hurt at an orlando nightclub. the man was just arrested by orlando police. he's the second suspect in the glitz nightclub shooting which happened last week. detectives also rearrested jose lopez. he's facing more charges, including shooting into a structure. two people were killed in the shooting. police said it was not a random act. they said there was a fight between two groups at the club

>> a just released transportation study shows nearly 10% of the nation's structurally structurally deficient. >> not only that, they're also in urgent need of repairs. study calculated 58,000 bridges need repair. they're not necessarily falling down but they need repair. 85% of them were built before 1970 with the creation of the interstate highway system. the most heavily traveled bridges that need repairs are several in los angeles, new york and the memorial bridge in washington, d.c. road experts say the challenge starts with funding the repair costs. >> as for florida's bridges, we ranked the lowest when it comes to needing repairs. >> well, imagine finding this mystery mush all over your property. people living in a detroit suburb say they have no idea where the tar-like substance is coming from and want answers. when the fire department came to

something more. marley and her mom posted instagram of black girls holding books. then books started stacking up and see soon went well past her goal of collecting a thousand books. they were donated to a local school and she went to her mom's native jamaica and gave away more books to some of the kids who had limited access to them. >> what does this young lady who is getting results this early in life want to be when she grows up? >> i want to be a magazine editor for my own magazine because i love being the boss and i love reading and writing. >> done. she is so incredible. and, you know, one idea and all of this has happened. and someone said that, you know, she probably will be president one day or something. >> if i could give her a little advice, she should start writing children's books right now herself. >> that's the advice they gave her. she's like she doesn't think she's ready for that just yet.
