t. victims were found on king cole boulevard near willy mays park. you got an update about the victims. what have you heard? >> reporter: i spoke with a watch commander early this morning. he tells me both victims are expected to survive. police say the shooting happened behind me. they are not telling us much about what happened this is what things looked like. here's what we know so far. police were called to the home after two shots were fired in the neighborhood. when officers arrived. they found victims with gunshot wounds. they were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. that's the only thing misare revealing at this time. they say there is an active investigation but no suspect information. there is no active search going

right now, i'm working to get more information from police about what led to the shooting. we are also talking with neighbors as well. what i learned in my report coming up at 5:30. >> all right, thank you, mark. we'll check back in with you. a person rushed to the hospital after being hit by a train in kissimmee. this happened along east donegan avenue. firefighters tell news 6 the person hit was taken to the ok. it is unknown why they were on the tracks. the train was blocking the road for hours. this morning work along the 21 mile stretch of the i-4 ultimate project has been put op hold. >> this is after a tragedy on the highway ends with a construction worker dead. that worker was killed after a dump truck ran over him. project managers want to know how this happened before they let anyone there back to work. kirsten is near where that

how long will this last? >> david, it could be days. it could be months. the contractor says there is no timeline for how long this delay on the i-4 ultimate project will last and if it could affect the entire six and a half year project. >> the 21-mile i-4 ultimate project is shut down this morning as crews who witnessed the first deadly accident tried to recover. >> it has deeply saddened all of us. we are grieving for our lost cleej. >> troopers say marvin franklin was making a delivery when a dump truck backed over him. the contractor sgl says franklin was a carpenter who had been on the project for a little more than a month. some witnesses say loud traffic and heavy winds could be reasons why franklin didn't hear the back up alarms, all part of the

>> let's review our plans, let's review all of our safety protocols on the project and make sure we have the right tools in place to have a safe project. >> sgl says some protocolses will include how dump trucks enter and exit work sites which is already emphasized in mandatory training. there is no date to resume the project. sgl only says they'll go back to work when crews have had time to grieve and safety standards are appropriate. >> give us time to really understand it. >> grief counselors will be available for crews today on the site. investigators are trying to figure out what caused this tragic accident. we'll post updates on the i-4 ultimate project on clickorlando.com, powered by news 6. >> this morning, we have learned two men deputies say led them on

linked to other crimes in the area. police say 37-year-old john powell and 24-year-old nathaniel woods terrorized terrorized, they targeted people out and alone. their crime spree started in azalea park when they robbed a man at gun point. hours later, detectives say they pistol whipped an uber driver before robbing a tourist at the outlet mall located on international drive. they were arrested after crashing a stolen car. they are both being held in the orange county jail without bond. >> the seminole county mother accused of shooting and killing her son won't be getting out of jail any time soon. a judge denied bond for 59-year-old virginia orte ortega. police say she shot her son five times as he showered in their condo. investigators say she stayed in the home with his body for hours and tried to take her own life

>> her son was shot and she sat on a couch for a long period of time and nothing happened. that would give you an indication there is something wrong. there is some disconnect there. >> court records show ortega was struggling with depression and financial problems. >> governor scott extended a state of emergency. >> this is after a tornado damaged hundreds of homes. we got a better look at the damage. meteorologists say it was an ef 1 twister with winds at 150 miles an hour that tore through pensacola. north florida was not alone. 30 homes were damaged as two tornadoes touched down in punta gorda. if there is any good news, there were no reports of any serious injuries. >> no tornadoes in central florida. the weather service says it has fixed another critical failure

it is not just about privacy. it is about public safety. >> the fbi said information on farook's phone could determine if other people were involved in the attack. 14 people were killed in the shootings. >> there is more trouble for royal caribbean after one of its ships ran into a storm backing 100-mile-an-hour winds on the high seas. news 6 learned a passenger suing the cruise line for that rocky ride on anthem on the seas, the passenger claims he was thrown 18 feet against his door and knocked unconscious. previously the cruise line said four people suffered minor injuries. a spokesperson won't comment about the lawsuit until it gets a chance to look at it. >> a former sheriff says he is planning on running for sheriff in volusia county. 72-year-old jim geller has launched this campaign website. according to news journal he becomes the sixth candidate to

he served as sheriff from 1994 until 1992. accusations that he accepted donations plagued him. houf, he has never been charged with any crime. >> new this morning, a new study is raising concerns about dangers on the roads. according to aaa, about 87% of drivers engaged in one kind of wheel. that includes driving distracted, speeding, running red lights, not wearing a seat belt. it goes on and on. the study found about 70% of drivers talk on the phone while behind the wheel. 42% admitted to reading a text while driving. half of all drivers admit to driving 15 miles an hour over the speed limit. 13% said they drove when their blood alcohol level may have been over the legal limit. with all that said, there is crazier driving in places overseas. >> one of the biggest complaints for air travelers is is a lack
