behind thousands of gallons of water shooting into the nighttime sky. water crews had to rush to the sky to gut the geyser shut off. the driver was hushed to the hospital. the good news is that road is back open. >> the search is on for suspects, three suspects after a man was attacked and stabbed. it happened late last night on curry ford road near bumby. deputies tell news 6 the victim was approached by two men and a woman and then hurt. investigators say the drive was going in and out of consciousness. the three suspects took off but deputies got there. the motive for the attack is not known. >> some more breaking news as we learn new details about the latest mass shooting in the u.s. this time four people are dead, more than a dozen others hurt in kansas. >> this morning, we have learned the suspected gunman has ties to central florida. mark lehman is in the news room with the latest information. what is going on? >> we learned information about

i want to show you where this is happening. this is in an area north of wichita. police say the gunman opened fire as he was driving to this lawn mower plant here in the town of heston. this is where the bulk of the violence unfolded. we are learning more details. police say through law enforcement the man responsible is this man, cedric ford. ford. >> speaking from his hospital bed, a survivor describes the chaos in kansas when the gunman opened fire. >> we heard gun shots. people were running saying somebody was shooting. >> police say the man shooting was cedric ford, a painter at the plant north of wichita. we have learned ford is from miami and lived in mirimar. >> popped out with an ak-4 and

down and went into the building. >> authorities say ford killed three and injured at least a dozen people before killing himself thursday afternoon. records show he had a criminal history that included burglary and grand theft. he also was arrested twice for fleeing from police. after seeing this scene unfold, coworkers finding it difficult to imagine how someone they worked alongside could be responsible. >> not that kind of person, that's for sure. >> investigators say the gunman randomly targeted motorists on his way to work. they have ruled out terrorism but they haven't released a motive for the shooting. >> in election 2016 news, the gloves come off as the republican candidates vying for the top job went head to head during their last prime time debate before supertuesday. the target of most of the jabs was the party's current front runner.

news 6 reporter kirsten o'connor joins us from the intersection. the 8-year-old suffered head injuries. do we know how he is doing now? >> we talked with dispatchers early this morning. they were able to confirm at last check the 8-year-old is still recovering at arnold palmer hospital. crews who respond today this emergency say he was not wearing a helmet and he had head injuries like you just said and was a trauma alert so had to be air lifted to the hospital. we are expecting to get more details on that. what emergency found when they got here yesterday evening. this is a picture they posted on their facebook page of the bike that the 8-year-old boy was riding when fire and rescue say he was hit around 6:00. it is missing that front wheel. by the time this photo was snapped, crews say the driver who hit the kid was long gone. the latest update on their page say police have tracked down the car and the driver.

intersection of alpine lane and dallas vine avenue. a few blocks away from cohina elementary. we are asking about that school and whether the child was a student there. and still trying to get more information about the driver and their search for the car involved in this. so far, they have not responded to our calls or e-mails. they let us know a public information officer should be talking to us in another few hours. we'll post any updates we get from police on our website, clickorlando.com. >> for a second day, there will be no construction along the i-4 project, all after a worker was hit and killed. managers behind this project won't say when that work will pick back up. marvin franklin died when a truck backed up on wednesday. the contractor here held a safety meeting to take a closer look at safety procedures including those involving the way dump trucks enter and exit work sites.

necessary to make sure something like this does not happen again and to grieve franklin's death. we found three construction workers have been injured while working on the i-4 project. the construction company has described those injuries as minor. >> a controversial business is open. it is a half shooting rang and half restaurant. for theed first time news 6 got a look inside the business that is right now in the middle of a soft opening. critics were worried because the restaurant serves alcohol. the owner said he put a lot of thought into the concept and inzipss no one who had a drink will be allowed to shoot a gun. >> my entire staff has been trained by the police department to recognize inebriated people. i bet you there is no other range in the country that has had the training my staff has had.

6. a pastor accused of having an affair is facing new allegations. a new filed lawsuit says the church has been covering up sex scandals for years. we were the first to tell you about this man's resignation earlier this month. this came in the wake of a lawsuit from a church member who said she had an affair with janeny during the time he counseled her. now a suit said he did the same thing he was counseling a woman a decade ago and the church didn't handle that incident properly.

protect her from janeny's predatory lawsuit. the lawsuit calls out a senior pastor, a guest pastor and her original attorney. notably missing was david janeny. she says she wants $15,000 for the damage the church concerns. >> a report that some said they weren't told they could be drinking contaminated tap water. south lake issued a precautionary warning. some people received e-mails but others tell news 6 they didn't receive an e-mail. one resident we talked to said as soon as he found out he put warning tape over his refrigerator water dispenser and started boiling his family's drinking water. >> once my daughter found out, she went to the neighbor's house. house.
