just west of the john young. jennifer ortega is live there tonight. first off, how is that woman doing? >> reporter: well she's still recovering in the hospital. her family tells me she had multiple surgeries on her legs after she was ran over right here on this crosswalk. he needs to come and face what he did. >> reporter: she's been in the hospital recovering since tuesday morning. after she was crossing the intersection and heading to the bus stop an 18-wheeler knocked her over pulling her under the trailer's tires. >> as she makes the right turn, the trailer portion comes up onto where she's standing off the road and actually, the trailer portion, she gets knocked down and runs over her. raymond has known her for 25 years. and the family is devastated with what happened.

fractured her pelvis, and has bruises all over her head. >> she's always involved with people, church, helping people. the last thing you could imagine, somebody that gives so much of herself to others, that this would happen to her. fhp says after she was hit, the driver stopped and got out and looked. and at some point got back in the truck and drove off. >> that gives you a lot of rage to some degree over the fact that somebody doesn't have a heart to even care about a human life. >> i hope he has a guilty conscious. he left that woman there. she's an elderly woman. and that's a bad injury for an elderly woman. >> reporter: when we got to the intersection, we found these tire marks on the corner. and several memorials for others that lost their lives. tonight, her family pleads for someone to come forward with information that can help. >> somebody that knows information, please get with us, tell the police, tell them what

describe as a drug dealing robin hood. this is what 24 pounds of marijuana looks like. orlando police say it has a street value of $30,000. tonight, it's off the streets after opd seized it. after raiding this home off of eye vi lane. >> it look a while for them to preach the door, they heavily reenforced the door frame. >> reporter: not only does this home sit far over the roadway and behind an iron gate, bars installed on the windows of the inside. he says the home was a fortress, guarding the drugs inside. >> we're glad to get it off the streets. more so, we're always happy to get the guns off the street. that's the big thing for us. >> reporter: they found automatics and handguns in this house that backs up to this community church. that arrested 56-year-old roberto alfonso.

>> this house is 25-year-old. this is the original cabinetry. >> reporter: her master bathroom doesn't look bad, but could use an update. >> toilets, cabinetry, tile, all gone. >> reporter: so she hired jay as teev. >> the tiling is excellent. >> reporter: he remodelled a different bathroom in her home a year earlier so she had no concerns handing him in check as a deposit. >> we gave him the $7,000 and haven't seen anything since. >> reporter: five months later, the bathroom remained untouched. despite a series of letters, phone calls and text messages. the contractor would not refund her money (sounds like you've given him plenty of opportunity to make it right. >> we've tried everything possible. he's made no attempt to give us back one dime. >> reporter: little did he know, he's been sued by at least seven other customers. most of them also complaining he

would not refund their deposits. >> this is a pattern. this person does this all the time. >> reporter: when one of those customers, a 68-year-old man, try ed to collect his money, police say he grabbed the man in a semihead lock and placed a hand on the customer's neck and squeezed. after his arrest, the contractor pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery. >> i believe in doing the right thing. >> reporter: in 2012, the state of florida determined he had been working as an unlicensed contractor and ordered him to cease any further unlicensed activity. i'm with channel six just want to let you know that -- >> reporter: he would not speak to me in person, but later left me this voice mail. >> i've got no other comment. we have to go through the court system. >> that seems to be the classic sign. >> reporter: she was hoping to avoid getting court orders as other customers have done. >> we're not a financial

>> so in desperation, i contacted you and you responded immediately. and with passion. >> reporter: in this case a lot of what was going was over the phone. so it was difficult to prove what the bank actually said. >> reporter: news 6 contacted the attorney to see if there was any way we could get her home back. it wouldn't be easy. >> now the tough thing is, it was sold to a third party bidder. it wasn't sold to the bank. so we had to undo the sale based on legal technicalities. >> he. >> reporter: he agreed to handle the case pro bono. >> this is a woman trying to do the right thing and got caught up in a bad situation. >> reporter: and that situation was reversed. she was able to h excel the judge to resend the sale. >> many times the banks are disorganized to a certain extent. so one arm doesn't know what the other arm is doing. >> reporter: does that make you feel good when you're able to help like this.
