>> an 8-year-old boy is in critical condition after a traffic accident. deputies say he fell into a canal while he was walking home from school. this happened yesterday off forest city road east of riverside elementary school. detectives think the boy scaled a fence and tried to cross the canal on a concrete walkway next to this blue pipe. something happened causing him to fall 10 feet into the water. that's when britney brown said her son jumped into the water to save his friend. >> they thought he was the one drowning. they said, no he is the one that saved him. >> that's not a path i told him to take. >> neighborhood we talked to say this isn't the first time they have seen kids out by the canal. some are calling for a security guard to be added in that area after school to make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

and killed another man after an argument turned himself in. detectives say 28-year-old rashad mincey shot swinton in the chest on garden street, two blocks west of bethune-cookman bethune-cookman. minty is charged with murder. >> the man accused of killing a bethune-cookman student and two others after another shooting has been indicted on first degree murder charges. lamont is charged in the shooting of johnson after fight at a party@ at a golf club. he will be arraigned on march 16. we are working to get the condition of a 3-year-old boy injured after an unusual crash in volusia county. sky 6 flew over the area last night. ormond beach police tell us ashley wilson went to a store on

. >>. >> we are staying on top of breaking news from overnight in orange county where a deputy was involved in a roll over crash. we are told the cruiser was t boned by an s.u.v. on kelly park road near apopka. both drivers went to the hospital. we are told they will be ok. johnny is out there at the scene working to get answers about what led to this he'll have a live update at the bottom of the hour. detectives say a man was holding a gun, so far police haven't identified this person shot yesterday. only saying he was 39 years old and gunned down. their say this was after his pointed his gun at officers. detectives tell us the man's gun was loaded and he had more ammo in his pockets.

after they say he threatened three construction workers. >> this morning the city of ocala is warning of a utility scam. the city says there have been calls for customers claiming their electricity was turned off unless they made an mead payment over the phone. the utility says they never call for payment or after hours. >> commissioners supporting a bill that would exonerate four men of raping a woman. they voted to support legislation urging governor scott to clear the groveland fou. it comes after the mayor issued a similar proclamation. while none of the four were in attendance. >> news 6 and our radio partners at mix 105.1 are teaming up to

after one of those scouts was the victim of a heartless thief. we told you about the crime after the man swiped the cash from a girl sulg girl scouts. after hearing about the theft, the radio station went right away to that wal-mart yesterday and collected hundreds of dollars in donations to replace the money that was stolen. we heard about it on channel 6. we all heard about it, we said, this is ridiculous. >> news 6 will give a donation on the morning show. we'll have more on that later today. >> this morning, a volusia county man is in the hospital after a shooting while his father sits behind bars. sky 6 flew over the scene near deland yesterday. deputies say 58-year-old grady shot his son in the chest. they say it all started because of a fight between the two over

edmondson was taken to the hospital. his father was booked into jail and is being charged with aggravated burglary. he is being held without bond. >> central florida may be home to bike week. it turns out the sunshine state is the most dangerous one for motorcycle riders. new numbers just in from aaa show florida is number one in motorcycle fatalities. one-third of motorcyclists in central florida do not think they should be required to wear helmets when riding. half a million bikers are expected to turn out. festivities set to kick off and weather is looking nice for a ride. >> comic book fans are counting down the days for the any batman versus superman movie. >> some tourists got a special sneak peek.

we'll see a sprinkle or two through the noon hour. through the afternoon, we are heating up. here's the front, we'll show it to you. pinpoint it and show you where it is heading. through georgia and the carolinas. this thing was stronger but then as it moved off to the east, a lot of it fizzled out. you can see the line of showers and thundershowers through the southeastern u.s. we'll see a little bit of that trying to hold together. ahead of the front, moisture in the form of cloud cover. you can see some moisture out in the gulf of mexico, trying to move in. again, when we say sprinkles, that's all we are talking about. a 10% chance of one or two sprinkles here or there. breezy conditions through the day, even after the front passes through the afternoon today. we are at 58 degrees. in orlando, 59 in ocala. 60 in daytona beach. 65 at cocoa beach. a mild start in many spots. no big need for the rain gear. no big need for the jacket. here's a look at the pinpoint
