this happened in orange county west of the 417. mark lehman is live there. mark, certainly some tense moments for that family. >> a mother who lives at the home tells us that panic set in at the sound of gun fire. she said nearly two dozen shots were fired after two men came looking for her son. >> i pray that they catch him. >> a plea after gun shots come flying into her home. >> i have a grandson here. they could have killed one of us here. >> minutes later, his older brother answered a knock at the door. >> does he live here? my son is like, yeah, why, what is going on? that's when the other guy pulled a gun out and started shooting. >> the family counted 22 bullet holes in their garage and two vehicles.

is behind bars after police say he stole from a daytona beach beach bank over the weekend. he didn't get very far with that money. the 44-year-old was arrested yesterday, one day after police say he walked into a wells fargo bank and handed the teller a note demanding money and implying he had a gun. here's surveillance pictures taken during the robbery. police say he was given the money in a brown paper bag found outside by a custer kus customer who followed him. >> in brevard county, troopers are working to figure out what led to this bad crash in meritt island. the driver slammed into a light pole and parked car on courtney parkway and lucas road. one person was thrown from the car. their condition is not known. as you can see, the impact from

over the road. >> council members will have an emergency meeting to discuss juvenile detex tention costs. it comes over a dispute over who pays to detain juvenile offenders. the bill would require counties to pay 57% and the state 43%. out of 22 counties, volusia is the only holdout. >> a big boost for ucf downtown campus. state lawmakers have agreed to set aside $20 million for that project. it is part of a pledge by legislators to spend more than $700 million on school construction projects around the state. part of the money would be borrowed, something rick scott has opposed to in the past. the florida board of governors last week approved ucf plans for

would be used to be part of the old amway arena. >> the big drive leading to major changes many downtown orlando today. >> folks need to pay attention to this story. parts of garland are closed to drivers and it will stay that way for the next 14 months. it is part of a project to make over i-4. johnny, people want to know what is being done in that area? >> construction workers are starting the new creation of the i-4 ramp and also the realignment of carland. there are road barriers. construction workers have been coming in and out of this area getting this whole thing ready. the garland closure will offer drainage and bridge worker in the area. if you are planning to head this way, you may want to cut through orange avenue, southbound or magnolia.

most clouds along the coast because of a breeze off the ocean waters. because of the breeze, i know it sounds crazy but it is bringing onshore warmer air in southern zones. that's why it is 67 in cocoa beach. 43 in ocala. drier air in central sections. that's why it is cooler to start. 54 the temperature at 7:00 this morning. and then we drop for the next couple of hours, warming to 78 by 4:00 today. a nice afternoon area wide. along the coast in brevard county, a bit warmer than we are seeing in inland areas. let's check out the roads and head over to amy in the traffic center. what is happening on a monday, hopefully not a lot. >> we have garland avenue closure. that will be with us an along time. we have numerous projects. most are detours. look outside at i-4. this is one of the projects that will be clearing. you can see the construction barrels set up on the westbound side of i-4, moving past ivanhoe boulevard. here's another project to keep

for great recipes. delicious is always served fresh from florida. >> condolences pouring in for first lady nancy reagan. the 91-year-old passed away of congestive heart failure at her home in california. as first lady she worked hard to fight the nation's drug problem with a program that created the phrase "just say no". she was often found gazing adoreingly at her husband, ronald reagan. the two were married in 1966 and they remained together until his death in 2004. they had two children. president obama and first lady michelle obama put out a statement offering their condolences. it reads in part, our first lady redefined the role during her time here. she became a voice on behalf of

through the aching realty of alzheimer's. barbara bush also put out a statement on reagan's passing. she said nancy reagan was devoted to president reagan. we tame comfort that they'll be reunited once more. funeral arrangements are being worked out at this time. we know reagan will be buried next to her husband at his presidential library in california. >> a somber service if a virginia police officer killed in the line of duty. dozens gathered at a wake to remember embry riddle arrow nautical student ashley gwendon. she was killed outside washington, d.c. while responding to a domestic violence call. it was her first day on the job after being sworn in. two other officers were also shot but survived. she graduate from embry riddle in 2010 with a degree in awe row naughtics.

search for a man who reportedly fell from a cruise ship 40 miles off the coast. the coast guard said 46-year-old david moss man fell off royal caribbean navigator of the seas late friday. crews search fire department more than 2500 square nautical miles before deciding to halt their search. passengers say moss marne fell from the tenth deck of the ship. there are reports he was arguing with his mother just before he went overboard. sha think navigator of the seas returned to port jeff glades saturday morning. >> there is good news for jimmy carter. he says he no longer needs treatment for cancer. a spokesman says doctors will continue to perform scans and he will resume treatment if necessary. he was diagnosed with melanoma

orlando is 76. we make it up to 78 by 4:00 today. of course; no rain chances as high pressure continues to dominate the forecast. some light winds tonight. we are at 63 degrees by 9:00. get outdoors if you can. there's the clouds and rain forecast, showing a bit of that east breeze bringing onshore moisture in the form of cloud cover. that's the white you see. the green would indicate a couple of sprinkles. even in brevard county, this is oversold. we won't see any rain across central florida today. it will be dry as high pressure continues to dominate. that east breeze does bring onshore a few clouds. sunshine to warm us into the 70's. because of the breeze into the afternoon, it will be cooler along the coast, rather than inland areas. we are up to 78 in the villages today. 77 in ocala. 77 in leesburg, getting up to 75 there in daytona beach. 76 in cocoa beach. as we take you into the next three days. temperatures warming up well above the average into the mid
