tonight, the damage and the mess a brush fire left in a local neighborhood. good evening to you. i'm matt austin. lisa bell is off tonight. a painful impact for the days to come at this hour. firefighters still out there. near coagen and san flee poe drive erik sandoval is out there tonight. what's the 11 o'clock update. >> reporter: i've been talking with fire investigators all night. they tell me this fire is 100% contained. there is still a lot of smoke out here. we've been watching flair ups right behind me. it's because of that, a lot of the neighbors are sleeping with their garden hoses by their front doors. palm bay fire crews quickly

when this brush fire erupted shortly after three this afternoon. winds spread the flames quickly. they sent them right in the middle of this subdivision. >> we knew what this wild fire was doing. chris fraser said the same area was hit in 2008. and he knew the low humidity and gusty winds were a recipe for disaster. >> what happened? >> i don't know. i receive ed a phone call this afternoon from a friend and they said your house is on fire. this is terry shaw's house. his is one of four homes damaged by the fire. tonight we got close enough to his house to see smoke still billowing from the backyard. he tell us, he bought the home when his family was start ing a new life. >> i was a single dad retired from the air force. my boy and i came here. and this was our house. tonight, fire screws are

when he was approached by a man walking by wednesday morning. the man asked the child if he want ed to come to his house. the boy got scared and ran home. >> i would definitely tell kids not to talk to strangers for one. you never know who you're going to run into. and obviously close to the school. >> reporter: the child described the man with as a heavy build. and the long black boutique. he was wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt, black shorts and black tennis shoes and sunglasses. >> eh hardly have problems pal i'm not concerned with it. it could have been somebody trying to ask a kid something and the kid might have taken it wrong. >> reporter: now police say they will have extra patrolling in the area around these elementary schools in the city. live in edgewater, jennifer ortega news 6.

tonight the final face off between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. voters got to hear a lot from both sides. news 6 anchor ginger gadsden is live for us tonight. ginger, clinton is favored to win, but as sanders showed us, you can't count this guy out. >> no you definitely cannot. they just wrapped up less than five minutes ago and you can see people are filing out of their auditorium here at miami-dade college. sanders comes in tonight's debate with momentum on his side. his upset win reinvigorated his campaign. and much of it was over immigration reform, not a huge surprise, being that the debate is being held here in miami. both kant dats agreed they would not deport children. here's what they have to say about immigration reform tonight. >> yes or no? can you promise tonight you won't deport children children who are already here.

i do not want to deport family members either, jorge, as i said, i want to prioritize who would be deported. violent criminals, people planning terrorist abing taes, anybody that threatens us. that's a relatively tall universe. >> to answer your question, i will not deport children from the united states. >> and can you promise not to deport immigrants who don't have a criminal record. >> i can make that promise. >>okay. >> reporter: h both agree the current policy followed by the obama administration is not something they would follow. their answers met by cheers from the crowd and we could, we were in the adjacent room and we could often erupt into cheers when either candidate would say something they really, really like. as you mentioned, this is the last time the two will face off before the florida primary which is next tuesday. there is a lot at stake here. they are still trying to win over every florida voter they can.

believed he may have abused their pets. house. >> reporter: sherry says her family's doberman came home from freed luhr's training program, with bloody paws, unexplained marks on her face. and a injured tail that no longer wags. how does he treat animals. >> horribly. i've witnessed him brutally beat and kill one dog. >> reporter: on his website, he claims to be a certified dog trainer. but none of these organizations say they have record of freed luhr. >> reporter: what expertise does he have in dog training. >> none. none at all. >> reporter: she thinks her exboyfriend should be arrested for fraud and animal abuse. first, she wants to make sure he stays in jail. shortly after he got out of prison. he began sending her these facebook messages in violation of a judge's order. for now, he will remain in custody. but his exgirlfriend worries

tonight we're seeing how close bullets came hitting a detective's son. a young man opened fire on his dad. jacksonville shaves tweeted this picture of that bullet riddled windshield.

>> it's not a cure for cavities for everybody. it is a very useful product. it's a tool that a dentist has in their tool bag. >> reporter: it's extremely inexpensive procedure. around $20. but it is not permanent. you have to have it applied every six months. beware, it could cause a dark stain when it fights that tooth decay. it isn't something that you would want to have done visible. but for kids, those baby teeth will fall out eventually anyway, so it might be a good option. ask your dentist in their offer it. so this product has been in other countries for decades. but only approved by the fda in 2014. we called around to local dentists, it's not widely used in our area at the moment, but part of that because it's so new to the u.s. if more patients start to ask for it, it could be something dentists might actually consider offering. for more info on the product, we put more information online. head to facebook.com news 6, find out the link right at the
