person had to hitchhike home to davenport. justin warmoth has more on who was arrested and what know about this 13-year-old student in it polk county. deputies just wrapped up a news conference. what can they tell you? >> reporter: both the boy's parents and the polk county sheriff grady judd are appalled. this could have had a much different ending. the first time happened back on march 2nd. you can see the attendant walking in the aisle there in the bottom left of the screen, apparently not noticing the 13-year-old was sleeping in one of the seats. they both then leave the bus, locking it on their way out. then about 15 minutes later, deputies say the boy wakes up, realizes he's on the bus by himself, opens the emergency window and climbs out. deputies say he then hitchhiked his way back home, 30 miles from

however, when he got home to davenport, he didn't tell his parents or anyone what happened. then on tuesday of this week, he was left on the bus again. both the bus attendant and driver did not check the seats. this time, though, he walked out through the front door. and once again, he hitchhiked his way back to his home in davenport. sheriff grady judd had strong words this afternoon about both 51-year-old gail brown and 57-year-old gwendolyn simmons. >> it's like what were you thinking? we know what they were thinking, nothing. between the two of them, they didn't have one thought in their head. about looking out for the well-being of the children on that bus. >> reporter: both women are charged with child neglect and have lost their jobs with the county. right now, they're at the polk county jail on a $2,000 bond. i'm still going through the press conference with sheriff judd. i'll have more for you tonight at 6:00.

>> lisa: developing at 4:00, police arrest a man accused of taking upskirt videos of girls at the baldwin park publix. >> julie: investigators say this doesn't just happen once, but this happened twice. >> sachelle: orlando police tell us it was a tip and this is the surveillance video that led to an arrest. that man carrying the basket is scott wesley irwin, now in jail charged with video voyeurism. we're told the incidents happened last month at the baldwin park publix on meeting place. you can take a closer look here at the surveillance video. irwin, the man who is in the red shirt, placed his cell phone inside a hand basket, walked down the aisles and recorded video under the skirt or shorts of young girls between the ages of 5 to 13. a customer reported the incident police. irwin was arrested and facing felony charges. this is not the first incident at a publix we're hearing today.

flashing at a store in longwood. we'll have the details coming up at 4:30. >> julie: thank you. brevard county firefighters are right now monitoring a palm bay neighborhood. just a few hours ago, there was another flare-up from a fire that started around this time yesterday. we were there this morning as spots. the fire was burning around san felipo and cogan drive. yesterday, 45 acres burned and several homes were damaged in just a few hours. the fire is now fully contained. meteorologist candace campos in for tom tonight. the dry air and winds are sure not helping things. >> reporter: absolutely. we're seeing the winds pumping in the heat across most of central florida increasing the concern of the fires spreading. you can see the winds are continuing between 13 and 18 in sanford. in brevard, you can see between 14 and up to 20 miles per hour.

gusts clocking to 30 miles per hour. the winds will continue throughout the night and even into tomorrow. also factoring in is the heat out there. look at the highs out there today. 82 in orlando and 83 in kissimmee. along the coast, upper 70's to low 80's because of the on shore breeze and the low humidity factors in the firefighting. 52% in sanford. 67% in cape canaveral and 45% in kissimmee. so again we have a ridge of high pressure in control, continuing to keep the winds moving in from the south-southeast. you can see choppy seas and a chance for rip currents as well. days. how long the warm stretch will minutes. >> lisa: thank you, candace. breaking news and new concerns about the zika virus in central florida. >> julie: health officials released information about two more cases in central florida.

ginger is there gathering the details and she'll have live coverage starting at 5:00 tonight on news 6 and on clickorlando.com. >> sachelle: deputies showed up at a flagler county high school today to make sure everyone was okay after a gun put the school on lockdown. there were reports of a student in a school bathroom. campus security was elevated to orange which prohibits anyone from entering or leaving school grounds. students were not allowed to leave at dismissal. parents had to wait to pick them up. >> lisa: just in to the newsroom, florida fish and wildlife is now proposing to seminole county's proposed ban on the bear hunt. it comes four months after the hunt.

and will welcome input from local leaders. the hunt did not reduce the officials. out of the more than 300 bears killed during last year's hunt, only four were in seminole county. f.w.c. says state law overrides ineffective. just in, a health alert. you'll want to check your freezer on this one. >> sachelle: nearly 3 million boxes of frozen pizzas and dinners are being recalled after customers found pieces of glass in their food. >> julie: nestle says the glass may have come from the spinach used in the product. the food maker says no injuries have been reported. >> lisa: ahead at 4:00, a local county considers new trash fines but not for homeowners.

>> sachelle: an orange county community is coming together, trying to get results for a local teacher. >> lisa: yeah, a teacher whose home was recently destroyed by a fire. >> julie: today we've learned they've gotten results. >> matt: they've raised $5400 for the teacher and it's not stopping there. this is all that's left after a nasty fire torched their home. the accidental fire started on the back porch and the roof is gone and her daughter's car is a

the teacher lost just about everything but her high school students are helping her in this time of need. they started an online fundraiser asking the warrior family to help one of their favorite teachers. we've seen a number of donations rise every hour. while they've met the $5,000 goal, the organizer of the fundraiser says they're going to keep it and try to help the teacher as much as they possibly can. we already know we don't pay teachers enough. when something like this happens, it's nice for folks to step up. the students organized it, which is aggressive. >> lisa: thank you, matt. you can share the link on facebook with your friends now on facebook.com/news 6. >> julie: tonight the white house is hosting quite the dinner party for canada's new prime minister and the menu, absolutely mouth-watering.

they're serving up a canadian favorite, french fries smothered in gravy and cheese kurds. >> lisa: i've never heard that. you had me at french fries and gravy. that sounds good. if you've ever been to chick-fil-a, you've probably noticed the long drive through lines. >> sachelle: some of the lines can get so bad they cause traffic to back up. chick-fil-a is looking into how to ease the problem for customers. orlando business journal reports the chain opened its third research facility in january. they'll make two changes to its drive-thrus. first they'll have employees walking the lines, taking orders directly from cars and second, servers will walk the orders to ready. the chain is currently testing

>> lisa: maybe you just need more than one line. >> sachelle: they do that when the store first opens. they have to continue. >> julie: i've seen people out there with ipads i've seen before. de bary's mayor is getting ready for a long and challenging journey. >> sachelle: he's building a raft to see how difficult it is for cubans to get into our country. >> lisa: he'll fly to cuba and use the raft he made to get back home to florida. he's been planning this trip since he rode from tallahassee to key west on a bicycle. he says even after strong warnings from the coast guard to reconsider his trip to cuba, he's sticking with the plan. >> there's no law that prevents an american from coming home on a boat. it's a smaller sailboat for lack of a better definition. >> lisa: mayor johnson hopes to make the trip in mid-april. coming up at 5:30, how the mayor is preparing in central florida for his trip back home from cuba.

as we head into sunday, a bit more in the way of cloud cover. a better chance of rain is bringing that up to a 50/50 chance on sunday. as we look at our current conditions right now, 86 out there for you in the villages. i don't in sanford. 73 in new smyrna beach and 77 in cocoa beach. looking at the winds, it's a big factor when it comes to the firefighting going on in palm bay. out there in brevard, between 20 and 21 miles per hour. here's what's going on in the atmosphere. we've got our fair ridge of high pressure blocking most of this rain from moving into the southeast, really warming us up. what can we expect throughout today, tomorrow and into your above-average temperatures, limited rain and limited cloud cover which is why the temperatures will rise and, again, because it's such a nice day, if you're planning to head out on a boat or the beach, be

high risk of rip current. hour-by-hour forecast, a few light showers possibly along the on shore flow along the coastline. that's about it. sunny skies for your friday and into your saturday. big chance of rain up to 50% for sunday. let's look at the wake-up temperatures for tomorrow. low 60's. upper 50's in ocala and 67 in cocoa beach. for this evening, the out of town forecast, 78 degrees by 6 p.m. and 75 for 7:00 hour-by-hour forecast for tomorrow, 87 degrees, plenty of sunshine, windy with winds moving in from the southeast at 5 to 10:00. let's plan out the forecast for the next seven days. don't forget daylight-saving time saturday night and temperatures don't cool down after the rain rolls in, 84 degrees at least until the first half of next week.

>> sachelle: it's when orange county rolled out the new trash collection system and racked up hundreds of complaints. the haulers could now face fines to complete routes. operators fielded roughly 4500 calls in january for missed pickups and about 2500 in february. county officials originally blamed a learning curve for missed routes but now say the number of missed routes is unacceptable. >> julie: new health findings about diets high in carbs. it may increase your risk for lung cancer, even if you've never smoked. the study from texas university uncovered that non-smokers who had a diet with a high glycemic diagnosis. it doesn't apply to all carbs, only those with little fiber. it means thick white breads or white rice especially if they're eaten on their own. >> sachelle: it's all bad news for me.

faced a judge for the first time this afternoon. cook was granted a $500 bond on the condition he doesn't go back to the publix, stays away from minors and won't go near any schools. the judge saying this appears to be a random incident. shoppers say they're shocked to hear this happened in their local grocery store. >> publix is a family place. i didn't expect anything like that to happen. >> that's crazy. i come here on my lunch break. i would think in this happen. >> lisa: we're following brevard county. sky 6 is heading to the scene in merritt island. troopers tell us two children were hit by a car and say both children are being airlifted to the hospital right now. this is happening along courtney parkway and grove boulevard. as soon as we learn more about know. >> julie: vermont senator bernie sanders just wrapped up his rally in kissimmee. he's hoping to reel in florida

week. news 6 investigator mike holfeld was there for the rally and what was it like out there today? >> reporter: oh, plenty of enthusiasm. i just interviewed senator podium. we spoke about 10 minutes. confident. let me set the stage for you. sanders told an enthusiastic but warm crowd of an estimated 4500 his campaign is different, truth." he cited climate change, what he calls the wall street rip-off. despite all the heat, the enthusiasm was there as bernie sanders pled his case for the white house. >> i'm an old-fashioned guy. democracy to me is one person, one vote, not billionaires buying elections.

>> reporter: this is a day i wish i were pinpointing on the beach. we topped out at 86 degrees so far in orlando. up to 84 in sanford. 86 in the villages. same in ocala. it's just a warm day, some of the warmest temperatures we've seen so far in 2016. 79 in new smyrna beach. 80 in daytona beach. if you are heading out to the beaches, whether this weekend or tomorrow, make sure to swim near a lifeguard. we have high risk rip currents. we have choppy seas and the reasons are the strong winds continuing throughout the weekend. we're not the only ones feeling the heat. check out the rest of the southeast. they're in the low 80's in tallahassee. 84 in savannah. charlotte for tomorrow also in the low 80's. we're still in the middle of march. as we look here at the almanac, today in orlando we topped out at 86 degrees, about 9 degrees above the average. thankfully, though, nowhere near the record of 93 set back in 1925. so, again, the rip current risk, the choppy seas, all of that is

moving in from the south-southeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour. but how long will the heat last and when's our best chance for rain coming? i'll have details in a few minutes. >> lisa: thank you, candace. we're seeing a composite sketch of a man who tried to abduct a 9-year-old boy. the child says he's white between 5-2 and 5-8 with a heavy build, medium length black hair and long black goatee. this all happened just south of edgewater public school. police say the man approached the boy and asked if he wanted to go home with him. news 6 reporter mark lehman tells us what police are doing now to protect students. >> reporter: edgewater police definitely made their presence known as students were arriving for class earlier today. while the search continues for the man who approached the boy near this school, parents are voicing their concerns.

after a man asked a 9-year-old boy if he wanted to come to his house. >> i had no clue. >> reporter: she learned about the attempted abduction while dropping off her daughter today. the news, alarming, but not particularly surprising. >> for someone to approach your child, there's a lot of that here. >> reporter: in fact, she's noted strange activity in this neighborhood before >> i have reported on several occasions of strange guys walking up and down the school. >> reporter: police are looking specifically for one guy, described as heavy-set with medium length black hair and long goatee. he was dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses. school officials are using the incident as a warning to parents. >> please take the opportunity to continue the conversation about strangers and how to handle a situation should your student be approached. >> reporter: heeding caution herself, she says she'll be watching. >> eventually he will get caught and i will keep my eyes open. i will keep my eyes open.

edgewater police are continuing extra patrols around both elementary schools within city limits. they're asking anyone who saw what happened yesterday to call crimestoppers at 1-800-423-tips. >> sachelle: here's one more look at the suspect. if you know who he is, please call the police. >> lisa: tonight what's being called a war chest of top secret terrorist data, tens of thousands of alleged isis documents now in the hands of intelligence officials. a former member of the terror group reportedly leaked 22,000 pages of secrets to british media, including application forms containing the names, addresses, even phone numbers of aspiring jihadies and the people who recruited them. inside of them it asks recruits 23 questions, including whether they want to be a fighter, commando or martyr.
