the fight against heroin continues in central florida. the heroin task force presented their final recommendations. the county still has to find a way to fund the plan. orlando police chief john mina says since august there have been almost 400 heroin related arrests. now officials want an increased bond amount for heroin dealers. >> the front end is helping our citizens know heroin is very dangerous. don't go there. we need to spend the money on the front end. >> lisa: county leaders are planning to form a smaller committee that will try to find funding in order to implement all the recommendations. >> ginger: in volusia county, school officials are voting tomorrow on a change to a controversial policy. >> lisa: it affects student athletes and whether their

playing. >> julie: any student failing a core class will be prohibited from playing one sport during school period. they'll vote tomorrow on whether to relax the eligibility requirements. under the change, they'll be able to fail a class unless they can continue to uphold a 2.0 gpa. >> our family policy is school first, sports after. don't pass, don't play, it's that simple. check out the 89-degree temperature there for the daytime high in daytona beach. that was hot enough to tie a record going way, way back there. 84 in ocala was a high. hot enough, not a record. we hit 86 in sanford and 87 from the cape to melbourne. right now, the temperatures are on the way down because we had speckles of rain roll through. daytona beach is only a couple of degrees off their new record-high for today. 85 in leesburg and melbourne and orlando. leesburg is 7 degrees hotter compared to yesterday. daytona beach is 5 degrees hotter. 1 degree warmer in orlando but 5 degrees hotter in sanford than yesterday at the same time. yesterday wasn't a cool day. by any stretch of the imagination. wind speed, here's part of the deal. all of that pushing in from the west, pinning the east coast sea breeze on the east coast. in daytona beach, with wind coming from the west at 21 miles per hour. that's one of the reasons you're able to zoom that temperature

of 89. satellite and radar together looking for rain and cloud cover and changes in the offing but not much coming our way. so tomorrow, we're going to turn around and have a day a whole lot like this day was. the wind support will still be from the west tomorrow. there will be pockets of activity, maybe a spritz or two. i'm leaving the rain chances out for the most part. they're oversold for the day tomorrow. wednesday, same drill. everything is still nice and warm and everything is still well above normal. overnight lows tonight will be in the 60's. 61 in ocala. 66 in sanford. 68 in cocoa beach and 64 in daytona beach. the official forecast in orlando, partly cloudy, clearing up a bit, but still breezy with winds pushing from the west-southwest at 5 to 15 miles per hour. the low will be 66 degrees. here is tomorrow. first thing in the morning tomorrow, about 68. on the cool side for that time of the day compared to where we're going. by noon, we're well into the 80's.

shooting left four kids and two grown-ups hurts but deputies say they're all going to be okay. the marion county sheriff's office says the 21-year-old zachary cox was loading his double barrel antique shotgun at an ocala shooting range when it went off. it happened on saturday. the pellets ricocheted off a concrete slab on the ground and hit six people. they were all taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. deputies did not charge him but they're still investigating the case they say. >> lisa: embry-riddle plans to hold a memorial service for a police officer shot and killed on her first day. the service will be held on march 22nd. she was killed while responding to a domestic violence call. two other officers were shot but they survived.

quote, "sleep ambassadors." news 6 anchor matt austin joins us now with more on this course. >> matt: i have no room to talk. high school students are getting a crash course in why sleep is really the most important part of their day. the course is to help spread the words on risks that come with not getting enough shut-eye. teens need 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night, according to the national sleep foundation. 87% of high school students don't get it. it impairs their judgments and concentration. that explains a few things, right? it can cause anxiety, depression, even thoughts of suicide. the american academy of pediatrics calls the problem of tired teens an epidemic. >> we had told you teenagers are not getting enough food, we'd have telethons and national news and in the presidential campaign.

two super computers, part of the nearly $45 million project to boost the country's forecasting capabilities. how they work, trillions of observations are gathered from weather balloons, satellites and buoys, among other things. the super computers run model based on the data to predict the weather. they decided upgrades were needed following superstorm sandy in 2012. >> sandy was a turning point in the enterprise. it brought super computing to the centers. >> ginger: the agency believes the new system will also help forecasters get a better handle on short-term daily predictions, not just big weather events. i would imagine that anything
