sky 6 is live over the scene. this is happening near a conservation area along wild tamarin boulevard near avalon park boulevard. photojournalist dave sprung joins us now live. you've been over this over an what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, it got scary out here again. the winds shifted. it happened a couple of times. the leading edge of the fire was still in the area. once the winds shifted, it started blowing the fires right towards these houses. i saw firefighters scrambling. they got the ladder truck up and the water cannon on it, taking a defensive stance. for the most part, the fire is out. this is the only area that has any visible flames to it. this is also a swampy area. so that is contributing to helping put the fire out as well as the fire lines that were cut around it. hopefully this time they're going to get a handle on it. >> lisa: let's hope so. we'll continue to check in with you.

afternoon. the high risk for fires could stay in central florida for days to come. good evening, this is news 6 at 5:00, getting results. i'm lisa bell. >> ginger: i'm ginger gadsden in for matt austin tonight. news 6 meteorologist troy bridges is in for tom. a red-flag warning is in effect because of the brisk winds? >> yes, until 7:00 for all counties in central florida. this is the big area of high pressure dominating the forecast around that. winds are coming in mainly out of the north but we could see a shift in the winds, out of the north for the most part, bringing in dry air. with dry brush in place, we'll be dealing with the fire threat. chilly air tonight. we'll be dealing with cold temperatures early in the morning tomorrow. the real concern on to 7:00 tonight will be the low humidity and the winds gusting to greater than 20 miles per hour, which is why there's a red-flag warning in effect for all counties through 7:00 tonight. we have a brand-new frost

for the man accused of trying to lure a 14-year-old girl. >> ginger: tonight we're hearing from the teen who managed to get away. daytona beach police tell us this happened friday night along hillcrest drive, not far from daytona state college. news 6 reporter loren korn has been getting answers about this all day long. she joins us live at daytona beach police headquarters tonight. you talked with that young victim. what did she have to say? >> she said she was scared. it happened all so fast. she had only one chance to get away. and she took it. >> reporter: spring break off to a scary start for the 14-year-old 14-year-old. >> am i going to die, get raped, kidnapped, never seen again. i don't know what to do. i'm scared. >> reporter: she says it happened friday afternoon. he pulled up, opened the door, trying to convince her to get in. >> i ignored him. he said you can come to me or i can come to you. >> reporter: the teen says there

do. >> my best chance was to try to get help so i screamed. >> reporter: and it worked. she ran home to tell her mother and they called police. >> it looked like he was probably in his 30's or 40's. officers immediately released this sketch and description of the man, a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5-6 and 180 pounds, last seen driving a light blue jaguar. >> officers flooded the area on friday night. we did door to door canvas. the helicopter was up. we really want to find out who this individual is and get our hands on him. >> reporter: as for stewart, she says her mother is watching her around the clock. >> i'm not allowed to walk anywhere by myself. she doesn't want this to happen to any other kids. >> reporter: the mother says she was outside at the time this all unfolded and she said she's seen this car drive down her street several times and believes her daughter was actually targeted.

>> ginger: scary indeed. loren korn live for us this evening. thank you. here's one more look at that sketch from daytona beach police. you can get another look at this and the suspect's description on our website. just head to clickorlando.com, powered by news 6. developing right now, three kissimmee cops are off the job, accused of lying in court. >> lisa: the police department's entire street crimes unit has been suspended. other criminal cases could also be in jeopardy. news 6 reporter troy campbell has been following the story for us and joins us live. what have you learned about this? >> reporter: the state attorney's office says once their investigators saw that video last week, they then went ahead and contacted the police department, and from there the police decided to suspend three of their officers. this arrest happening on november 24th of 2015. the three officers are all seen here in this surveillance video at the tropicana motel, walking

a drug suspect. now, the problem is, officer hall, she testified she was alone in the room and no other officers came with her. the charging affidavit, officer hall said "the other officers were conducting a traffic stop." now this contradiction was enough for the state to drop the entire case a week ago today, letting the suspect walk free from this incident. now, all of the cases these three officers were involved with the street crimes unit of the police department which deals with a lot of investigative work, all of those cases have now been placed on hold. we're still waiting for the city to give us the personnel files of these three officers to see if similar cases have ever arose over concerns over the officers' credibility. we'll have more on what jeff ashton, the state attorney, has to say about these cases, live at 6:00. >> lisa: a lot of questions about that one tonight. thank you. developing tonight, we know the name of the 16-year-old who

apopka teen over the weekend. police tell us they arrested the 16-year-old who is now charged with second-degree murder. this was the scene along the road in apopka saturday. they were firing shots in the backyard and moved inside a home. that's where the 15-year-old destiny bardman was shot, she later died from her injuries. apopka police tell us the two years. we'll stay on top of this for you as it continues to develop here on news 6 and on clickorlando.com. >> ginger: an arrest in a county. deputies tell us a man grabbed a 12-year-old girl along a trail. now he faces some serious charges tonight. we're told the 23-year-old caesar reyes approached the victim friday night along the altamonte springs. the girl told deputies he followed her and grabbed her after she called her mom. deputies say the girl got away

reyes was caught minutes later. he's charged with false imprisonment and battery. he is out of jail on bond tonight. >> lisa: a bad crash causes serious traffic problems on i-4 at the height of rush hour. traffic was backed up for miles in volusia county. this was the scene this morning on the westbound side of i-4 near state road 44 in de land. f.h.p. tells us a tractor-trailer swerved to avoid hitting a trooper, and that's when it jacked knifed spilling fuel all over the world. all westbound lanes were shut down for hours as crews worked to clean up this mess. if you were caught in this morning, this is what happened. all is clear tonight. as we head into spring here in central florida, you may have also noticed a big change at the pump. >> ginger: yeah, prices have jumped nearly 20 cents in just one week. the upward trend could be here to stay. the average prices for a gallon of gas in orlando is now $2.01,

a month ago, prices were even lower at $1.66. but it's cheaper than a year ago when we were paying $2.37 a gallon. that was painful. one of the big reasons why analysts say gas prices are on the rise is spring break. >> lisa: many local parents are looking for things to do with their kids this week. but you don't have to go far and spend a lot of gas money to find some fun. news 6 meteorologist candace campos is pinpointing your forecast at lake eola in downtown orlando. >> candace: we're pinpointing fun things to do with the family. the next stop is at lake eola, the famous swan boats, if you're taking the family out there, tomorrow the weather is going to be great. it's going to be on the breezy side on the lake in downtown orlando. 72 degrees at 2 p.m. lunchtime hour, 64. if you want to do lunch and swan boats. evening hours, the temperatures will be cooling down into the upper 60's. a very mild afternoon.

>> lisa: we continue to follow breaking news in east orange county. take a look at this. sky 6 is live over the scene of a fire. this appears to be maybe a boat on fire right now. crews are battling multiple large fires in east orange county. sky 6 just got to the scene. this one is happening in the bithlo area, north of colonial drive. you can see some intense flames there. we are working to learn more about this and bring you updates as they come in. all afternoon, sky 6 has also been over a large approximately 20-acre brushfire in the avalon

sitting president to visit cuba in nearly 90 years. julie broughton is joining us with more. >> julie: president obama quickly got to work after landing in havana. in just the last two hours, the two country 's leaders met face to face to improve relations that have been strained more than half a century. from there, he met cuban president raul castro in havana's powers of the revolution. they had a sit-down talk with joint news conference. they spoke about the importance of continuing to make progress. >> this is a new day. between our two countries. >> julie: president obama will be there until late tomorrow. from there, he's expected to fly to argentina. not everyone is happy about the president's trip. protesters have -- protests have

move in with the light north winds tomorrow. but we will start off chilly. here are the temperatures. where you live by 7:00 in the morning, 38 in ocala. the villages dropping to 41. 44 in orlando. leesburg at 45. early in the morning tomorrow, we drop to 44 in daytona beach. so chilly air in place but a nice rebound with lots of sunshine, the dry air in place tomorrow leading to mid-70's in many spots. 74 in ocala for the afternoon high, warming to 75 in orlando and 72 in daytona beach and 72 in cocoa beach. for spring breakers tomorrow, the weather will be nice. the water temperatures are a little cool, around 70 degrees in daytona beach. we will be dealing with the rip current risk in the moderate category tomorrow. there's your wednesday, though, gradually warming to 81 degrees. we're up to 85 on thursday with rain chances at 20%. then we up rain chances for the end of the week as a new system rolls in. 40% coverage on friday. and for easter weekend, mid-80's for the highs. we'll take that with a 50% chance for rain. the good news about the rain,
