[real-time closed captioning provided by u.s. captioning company.] >> lisa: now at 6:00, a scary situation for a teen girl who says a man tried to lure her into his car and then threatened her. and a brushfire has burned dangerously close to several homes in east orange county. first, though, three kissimmee officers are suspended accused of lying in court. good evening, thanks for joining us. i'm lisa bell. >> ginger: i'm ginger gadsden in for matt austin tonight. a lot of investigative work could be put on hold as the department gets to the bottom of what happened. news 6 reporter troy campbell is following the story tonight. these suspensions involve the entire street crimes unit? >> reporter: that's exactly right. the others not involved, they've been reassigned. we are told that the public defender in the case is the one who discovered this surveillance video. i'm also currently in the process of reviewing the three officers' personnel records and

first time one of those officers has been suspended on the job. >> there's a lot of questions about exactly what happened and how. >> reporter: state attorney jeff ashton saying his investigators put a stop to the criminal prosecution of a suspect once this surveillance video came to light. it was recorded at the tropicana motel back on november 24th. kissimmee officer tiffany hall is seen in the video entering a hotel room where a drug suspect was staying. the only problem, in the charging affidavit, she wrote that the two other officers weren't with her and that she was alone. >> we realized we could not go forward. there was a serious contradiction between the tape and what was testified to, and so the case was dropped at that point. >> reporter: the suspect is now free and clear of the incident. the state attorney's office says the officers involved could also face jail time, even cases that have already been closed with convictions will be reviewed while the three kissimmee

>> it's very sad for anyone in law enforcement when there appears to be this kind of contradiction between evidence and what the officer is saying on the stand. >> reporter: as of now, none of the three officers have been charged with a crime. coming up later at 7:00, we'll hear more from state attorney jeff ashton about how video can change criminal proceedings much as it has in this one. live outside the orange county courthouse, troy campbell, news 6. >> ginger: thank you. we've been following breaking news out of east orange county tonight. crews have been battling a brushfire burning very close to some homes there. sky 6 was flying over the scene since 4:00 today. this is in a conservation area along wild tamarin boulevard near avalon park boulevard. we're told the fire is now 95% contained, but at one point, it got so close to the homes it even melted some backyard fences to some of those homes and then you see people out there with their own hoses trying to make

property. >> lisa: really scare situation for several hours this afternoon. our dry and windy weather today put us all under a red-flag warning. >> ginger: it's still in effect right now for central florida. let's check in with news 6 meteorologist troy bridges who is pinpointing the winds and what we can expect in the next few hours. >> the red-flag warning is until 7:00 tonight. they've amended it a little bit. the winds are sustained at 10 miles per hour, mainly out of the north right now in orange county. you can see the arrow indicating where they're headed. they're moving to the south and southeast right now in orange county out of the north and northwest. we have seen a little bit of a shift but mainly the winds are bringing in dry air from the north. you can see stronger sustained winds along the coast, near 20 miles per hour, gusting at times earlier near 30 miles per hour. here's the red-flag warning for all of the pink colored counties that is most of central florida through 7:00 tonight as we have very low humidity and the winds,

street and old apopka road. we're told multiple shots were fired. deputies are asking anyone who saw what happened to call the orange county sheriff's office or crime line at 1-800-423-tips. >> ginger: right now, daytona beach police are searching for a man who they say tried to get a 14-year-old girl into his car. >> lisa: the girl says the man even threatened her if she didn't do what he said. it happened on friday night along the 1200 block of hillcrest drive in daytona beach, not far from daytona state college. news 6 reporter loren korn is live at daytona beach police headquarters tonight. so how was that teen able to get away from that guy? >> reporter: well, at first she said she froze, didn't know what to do. and then she screamed and that was enough to scare that man away. scary moments for the 14-year-old girl. >> i was praying and thinking about what should i do. i was thinking am i going to get kidnapped, am i going to be taken away and never seen again?

pulled up next to her friday afternoon, pressuring her to get into his car. >> i froze. he was like come here, come here, you're not going to tell me where you're going. he said come here. i ignored him. he said you could come to me or i could come to you. >> reporter: the teen says there's only one thing she could do. >> i just screamed. >> reporter: the man sped away and she ran home and called police. >> we had the helicopter up, we went door to door canvassing. we want to find out who this individual is and get our hands on him. >> reporter: police released this sketch and description of the man, a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5-6, 180 pounds, last seen driving a light blue jaguar. >> she gave us a great description before running away. we need to find this guy before someone else gets victimized by him. >> reporter: the mother tells us she's no longer allowed to walk

she's also seen the car several times and believes her daughter was targeted. a very scary situation. >> lisa: loren korn reporting live tonight. thank you. this is another look at the sketch from daytona beach police. you can get another look at the sketch and the suspect's description on our website at news 6. troopers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist in brevard county. the crash happened last night along courtney parkway and spruce avenue in merritt island. troopers say 54-year-old steven terry was riding his bicycle in the left lane. at one point he fell off while trying to cross courtney parkway when he was hit. troopers are searching for a dark-colored 1995 to 2003 chevy pickup truck with front-end damage. that truck left the scene. if you know anything about this crash, you're asked to call the crime line. >> ginger: dead fish are popping up all over in brevard county waters. it's so bad, people who live

several agencies are working together to come up with an emergency clean-up plan and figure out why this is actually happening. reports of dead fish started coming in last week from the indian and banana rivers. our news partners at "florida today" reporting 15 different species of fish are dead in the indian river lagoon including sheep's head and catfish. what's happened. >> this is terrible. this is the worst i've ever seen it and i've been here since 1970. this is the worst fish kill i've ever seen. >> ginger: it does look bad. florida fish and wildlife is investigating the cause of the fish kill. the clean-up plan may include help from a variety of sources, including inmate labor to scoop out the dead fish. >> lisa: good news for uber riders in altamonte springs. starting today, users will get a discount, part of a partnership between the city and the ride-sharing service. anyone who uses uber and takes

behind the front that moved through, brought some severe weather to south florida yesterday. today more dry air builds in around that high as the winds are coming in in a clockwise fashion around the sinking air. there is the chilly air we can expect overnight tonight. again, this fire threat, the red-flag warning in effect through 7:00 tonight. so a few minutes more to go as we have the dry air in place and the winds gusting greater than 20 miles per hour. again, as the sun sets, we'll see the winds calm down a bit better. and temperatures drop off. we're talking about a very cold start tomorrow, especially in marion county. there is a frost advisory in effect until 9:00 in the morning tomorrow for all of marion county. here's what to expect as we take you hour by hour tonight. here's the pinpoint accurate forecast as we take you through 9:00, we're at 55 degrees. at 10:00, 53 degrees. so some very cool air in place. of course, it's dropping off from there.

and 40's early tomorrow. here's the way it looks right now. mid-60's in most spots. it's 60 in melbourne. 64 in ocala. 65 in orlando. and through the nighttime hours, we'll be dropping into the 50's, feeling more like the 40's. the wind, although it will calm a bit, it will be a bit breezy into tonight, making it feel a little cooler. through tomorrow, there's the blue sky and sunshine warming us up to 75 degrees by 4:00. the average high is 79. so after only getting into the 60's today, tomorrow will be about 10 degrees warmer in many spots. there's the clouds and rain forecast, stepping you through the day tomorrow. you notice one or two clouds along coastal zones tomorrow. we'll begin to see the area of high pressure shift off to the east. as it does, more moisture will work in by the end of the week, even by the middle of the week we'll see more in the way of cloud cover and then the south winds working in around the high. early in the morning tomorrow, more of that cold air with light north winds. we're at 38 in ocala tomorrow
