daughter was taken to the medical center. how did it happen? >> it appears the pedestrians were in the crosswalk. traffic was kind of light, not a lot of vehicle or pedestrian traffic out at that time. as soon as the accident happened, the bus did stop and people did come and render aid to the victims. >> reporter: metro released this statement this morning, which reads "our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by last night's accident. a thorough investigation is underway and we are cooperating fully with the cincinnati police department". tyrone patrick was driving that cincinnati metro bus, a bus with no passengers at the time of the crash. we're told patrick showed no signs of impairment and he did offer a blood sample. they will look at possibly surveillance cameras around the area to try to determine the cause of the. >> be sure to stay with local 12

you can find more on the story on our website local12.com. the goal to combat childhood poverty. local 12's jeff hirsh was there and gives us an idea of what lessons were taken away. >> a big crowd of community leaders here this morning. more than 200 people for the cincinnati child poverty collaborative and they heard from an expert from new york city about things that can work. >> robert doer is with a conservative policy study group. he spoke of reducing teen pregnancies and reinforcing the importance of families and requiring able-bodied people who do get public assistance to get a job as well. >> it works to say to people who are receiving various forms of assistance, this is a reciprocal relationship.

we need people who are receiving assistance to moving rapidly toward employment. >> i was very impressed, talking about the importance of two parent families for the benefit of kids. helping young men who may not prison system. these are huge issues. >> i thought frankly his comments about the challenge of silos, you get help for food, you go someplace else for help for housing, someplace else for medical, i think that's something everybody has been talking aboutnd a thinking about, it is more difficult to decide how to make changes in that area. >> reporter: community leaders believe some sort of change is necessary, the question now is what changes. >> john: the cincinnati poverty group hopes to have

summer. pleading guilty to drug and money laundering charges in court. according to court documents the defendants were charged in april last year in the 23-count indictment. the group apparently operated stash houses where they would process, cut and store the drugs. the group would then buy real estate and property to launder their money. agents recovered more than a million dollars in cash, as well as guns, vehicles, jewelry and much more. a local father faces charges after he allegedly left his child in the middle of the road in freezing temperatures. according to court documents leland got in a fight with his mother and drove off with the child of the -- he left the baby in a car in the car seat in the road. he's charged with assault and due before a judge this afternoon.

wind makes it feel even chillier. expect some cloud clearing though. here is meteorologist john gumm weather. >> actually air temperatures are going to be a whole lot warmer than what they were yesterday. part of the reason for that, we are seeing sunshine across the city of cincinnati. this is the view from college hill and you can see broken high thin clouds on the atrium weather center camera. temperatures in the upper 30s to around 40 degrees. the airport, lunken and hamilton all at 40. 37 at wilmington and 39 batavia. winds are gusting over 20 miles per hour at times. the wind chills are still in the 20s to low 30s. nothing is showing up on radar around here. clouds from this morning are moving out of the picture. we'll see some sunshine, there's another disturbance dropping in from wisconsin that will bring a chance for a shower.

warmer this afternoon than what we saw yesterday. that's the view of downtown cincinnati from the atrium weather camera center we're going to get warmer today. there's a chance for a late day passing shower, perhaps a sprinkle, no major rainfall associated with this weak today. you might even see a flurry or two during the overnight into tomorrow morning. we'll get colder tomorrow and then by the weekend, this big january thaw kicks in with temperatures surging into the 50s. early next week, rain chances will begin to go up. outside right now, 40 degrees. the wind is making it feel colder, sustained out of the southwest at 16. we're seeing gusts over 20 miles an hour. there's a wind gust at the airport gusting to 22 miles per hour out of the southwest. the combination of sunshine early this afternoon will push

take you on into the future and show you weather conditions into the future. we're going to see eventually a chance for a shower by late this afternoon. the cloud cover on the increase by late afternoon around the cincinnati area. eventually a few hit or miss showers will develop and there are flurries into the overnight hours. nothing of any major consequence, the big story, however, is going to be the warmer air kicking in here as we get into the end of the weekend, we start to see those highs into the upper 50s. so it is going to be quite a change around here from what we have seen as of late. temperatures surging as high as 60 degrees next week. there's your planning forecast, 45 today. a late day shower possible and then colder tomorrow, 38, we're in the low 50s on saturday. upper 50s on sunday. on saturday. a better chance for a shower coming in late sunday.
