martin o'malley could become a king maker. marlie hall is in des moines. >> reporter: for the first time tonight, voters will have their president and candidates will campaign until the very last moment. hoping to dampen donald trump's momentum, texas senator ted cruz made his final pitch to iowa voters sunday. >> if everyone here brings nine other people to the caucuses tomorrow night, we will win the caucuses tomorrow. we will win the nomination and we will win the general election in november 2016! >> reporter: during an event in sioux city, trump pushed back for cruz tend sending out this flyer. >> voter violation, it's like an official document being sent to people in iowa, that is really terrible. it's a fraud, as far as i'm concerned. >> reporter: forecasts here in iowa are calling for snow in parts of the state beginning

the nation's first primary in new hampshire is just eight days away. a just released poll finds donald trump holding a commanding lead and bernie sanders is leading hillary clinton by 23 points among voters. we will talk with hillary clinton about the iowa caucuses coming up on "cbs this morning." well, two virginia tech students are in custody this morning, accused in the death of a 13-year-old girl. nicole lovell disappeared wednesday from her blacksburg, virginia home and police say she was abducted by 18-year-old david eisenhauer and 19-year-old natalie keepers was charged with assisting in burying her body. police have not released a motive or cause of death. the autopsy is set for today.

after severe weather swept through california. police say a driver in san diego was killed when a large oak tree fell onto a moving car. powerful winds downed power lines and trees across the region. a home south of los angeles was hit hard. >> the whole tree started moving, swinging. and i came back and get ready to pull out my truck and heard it pop. slow motion. it was down. >> heavy snow triggered a massive pileup near the california/first half line. interstate 80 was closed for hours. amtrak is investigating objects that struck a train from washington to new york. the train was hit sunday evening in north philadelphia. passenger photos show the damage the train stopped and police boarded to investigate before continuing the journey. no injuries were reported by the 201 people on board.

identified a person of interest in this weekend's deadly motorcycle gang brawl. one person was shot and killed and seven others were hurt in a fight between rival clubs at a motorcycle expo. one of the groups was made up of police and military members. no arrests have been made. isis claims responsibility for a triple bombing in syria that killed at least 50 people. the blast sunday targeted a mostly shiite suburb south of dah mass cass. attackers detonated a car bomb at a bus stop. then as rescuers rushed to the scene, two suicide bombers set off explosives. the bombings come as peace talks come in geneva. w.h.o. says up to 4 million people in the americas could get the mosquito-born illness. the virus is linked to severe birth defects. a vaccine for widespread use is months or even years away. excitement is building for

the denver broncos and carolina panthers arrived yesterday in the san francisco bay area and fans are getting a head start on the football frenzy with a kickoff of a week full of events. jamie yuccas is in san francisco. jamie, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. it's more than 30 years since san francisco hosted a super bowl and the city wanted to make sure the party got started in a big way. the nfl experience. >> yea! >> reporter: and super bowl city. >> we just want to welcome you. we want to thank you and, most importantly, we want you to have fun. >> reporter: both got marching over the weekend. people from all around the san francisco area came to play. like jennifer waltz who is not shy about getting into the game. or who she is rooting for. >> it was awesome! i'm super excited! i did it for the broncos. that's what we are going to do is score a touchdown and spike that ball. >> reporter: the security is

speeding that she gave chase. ka castillo caught the action on her cell phone a friday and said the driver reached 80 miles an hour and said she could not catch up with the police car. eventually, both cars pulled over. the officer told her he was on his way to work and did not believe he was speeding. miami-dade police are investigating the incident. separation surgery for the smallest ever twin babies and a kentucky fire is under investigation. those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the lexington herald leader of kentucky say investigators are trying to determine the cause of saturday's massive fire that destroyed a seven-acre stockyard and other businesses in lexington. area residents who suffer from respiratory problems are urged to stay indoors due to the poor air quality.

mormon church is mourning the deaths of members. the death in four states are being blamed on increased rules that bar same sex married couples from the church. >> how do we stop the bleeding of our youth that are gay? and, actually, the bleeding of the families that have those gay children. >> the deaths could not be independently verified. the mormon church says it does not reject lgbt members. the outbreak sickened chipotle customers in nine states since october. the source of the contamination has not been determined. the daily mail of london says doctors in switzerland have successfully separated conjoined twinsters. mia and lydia were joined and the chest. they are the smallest pair ever
