on the morning newsstand. the chicago sun times reports a homicide detective is fighting to keep his job after posing in a controversial photo. the image shows former detective timothy mcdermott on the right and holding a rifle and posing over a black man as a trophy. it was taken between 1999 and 2001. mcdermott was lufed to keep investigating homicide for yearly a year after a federal prosecutor had provided the department with the photo. gunfire at a mardi gras parade in mississippi left two people dead and two wounded. shots rang out in pass christian yesterday. police say it started as a fight and escalated to gunfire two blocks away from the parade route. "the new york times" reports former secretary of state madeleine albright, and feminist gloria steinem --

all over, i was a little underwhelmed. >> and underdogs? >> i thought too much referenced previous super bowl commercials and weren't creative on their own. >> a number ads used popular music. we heard bowie and a few different songs. what is the benefit of using a popular song? >> songs are a sauce for a lot of these commercials. bowie choice was a great choice for the commander song and a big rock song by van halen for a big american sports car. it instantly cuts through and it communicates in a party atmosphere. >> i guess music can always set a mood, you know? if you're trying to tug at people's heart strings, like the audi commercial is a way to do it. celebrities always make a showing when it comes to super bowls as there were a number of celebrities. using a celebrity can be a double-edged sword, right? >> there were over 50 celebrities on this.

you selling your product or a kim kardashian was on a super bowl ad last year but do you remember what it was for? >> no. i like the amazon commercial. >> the amazon commercial was pretty funny. i love the spot with serena williams and the other celebrity. i never thought i would see mr. white but there he was. >> what about this? at the end of the super bowl, right? everyone is asking peyton manning questions, what is he going to do after the super bowl? and he kind of drops the line a couple times. he is going to have a beer and then he is going to have a budweiser. do you think that was deliberate? what do you think is going on there? >> i think it was deliberate. the word on the street is he owns a couple of pieces of budweiser descript budweiser distributorship and kissy face with papa john's on national tv.
