>> good afternoon, everyone. thanks for joining us. >> we begin with a local breaking news alert in laughlin. police called to the area of maple and lotus. sydney bentner is live. >> laughlin police are investigating what they are calling their first homicide of 2016. they were called around 2:15 this afternoon.

near locus. they say witnesses were at the scene when they arrived. they reported four men exit a gold car. only three were on foot. that's because we're told, the homeowner, according to what he told police, the robbery became violent. he was held up at knifepoint. when the three individuals fled the scene. police reported seeing one man dead on the floor in the 6 hundred block of maple. the homeowner is cooperating and apparently being investigated by investigators right now. they are inside gathering evidence as we speak. we will stay on the scene. the coroner is on the scene. and for now, reporting live, in laughlin, sydney benter, local 12 news. >> thank you, sydney.

no word on what spark add second deadly fire in as many days. this one in a home in mason. >> roma hunt died in the blaze. she's the 13th person to die in a fire so far this year. larry davis is live with new information. larry? >> here we go. >> drive in mason is very quiet. it's always a quiet street for the most part. today, even more quieter as people mourn the loss of a neighbor. the house here is boarded up. crews spent the better part of the afternoon, putting out the house engulfed by flames. and mason firefighters were called in the home of 1 thousand block of olympia around 1:30 this morning. neighbors described flames shooting several feet into the air. the fire spread quickly through the one side of the home,

she apparently lived alone at the home. some of the first neighbors who arrived wanted to go inside. the fire and smoke were too much. hunt was dead at the scene. 911 callers appeared someone was inside the home, because a car was still parked in the driveway. coming up on local 12 news at 5:30 tonight, hear from some of some of the neighbors who live in the streets who say that, she was somebody who stayed to herself. always had a way when she would leave to drive away. live in mason. local 12 news, paula back to you. as we mentioned, we have now had 13 people die in local fire since the beginning of the year. we told you this before. if you need a smoke alarm for your house or apartment, you could get one free from the red cross.

it is getting better. the snow is moving way more. what could we look forward to tonight? could we speak better? >> we'll keep a cloudy sky around, with temperatures gradually falling in the 30s. don't expect any rain or snow in the tri-state. there's areas of fog developing overnight. visiblity will center around 2-5 miles. i'm not too concerned in some spots. there's some spots where visibility is reduced and patchy freezing fog can't be rolled out. i bring that out, because freezing fog could cause freezing ice. and we'll add that little tidbit into the mix. just know some areas of fog will be around later this evening and overnight. nothing widespread and dense anticipated at this point.

and two students, >> new information on the absence of a radio personality. lisa wells is a familiar voice of 70 glw. short time ago, local 12 obtained copies of the report that shows she's facing a drug possession charge. the report indicates wells was stopped by a trooper on i-75 in miami county north of dayton last month. someone called by an erratic driver. he stopped inside by going 75 miles an hour and failing to

the trooper reported finding prescription pills in her vehicle. wells is also charged with ovi. last week, she entered a not guilty plea. last week, she told local 12 news, she had no comment on the charges. charges. >> >> administrators decided to close dayton independent schools in northern kentucky as a precaution. they plan to reopen tomorrow. superintendent jay brewer, the crews from northern kentucky university and airport, brought in bomb sniffing bombs monday night to search the school's day care, elementary school, middle school and high school. the searchs turned up nothing. >> stars were out, full force of the grammys monday night. you were really charged for this thing last night. did it meet your expectation? >> it was a very entertaining show. it was not like the best grammys i've seen.

temperature 37, dry air in place as suggested by a dew point of 36 degrees. cloudy tomorrow. very simple forecast through mid week. and if you want some warmer air, it's coming. it's a couple of days away. strong southwesterly flow pushes the temperature in the upper 50s late in the workweek. and hillsborough has a windchill of 36. we will take 38 now. and down gradually for the 30s this evening and ultimately down overnight. and nothing as dense as early this morning. this system to the south, and southwest, not heading our way. this disturbance, close to chicago, continues to weaken

no rain or snow in cincinnati. it will come down some this evening. keeping the cloudy sky we'll have now through the next several hours. and disturbance will give flurries to central northern ohio. temperatures max out. high pressure tries to scrub out some of the cloud cover. we're mostly cloudy. finally, we get sun. at least temporarily before clouds increase rate on friday. there are some showers as we get into the weekend. a big warm-up is on the way. forecast temperature by 6:00 in the morning. : we're up to 38 degrees tomorrow. plenty forecast shows we're warm and windy on friday. high 58 degrees. 60 on saturday. have yourself a weekend forecast, brad. won't you? partly cloudy.

city. >> the pope will wrap up his visit tomorrow in juarez. the mass is expected to focus on s. >> and 25-year-old, william chambers is charged with murder. he's accused of killing cameron tiler clemens in bond hill. officers say clemens was shot five times. chambers is locked up in the hamilton justice center. boone county deputies are looking for a couple in the surveillance pictures. deputies say the couple threatened to kill the victim and made him get into their vehicle as they drove him to multiple atms to withdrawal money. the victim was then assaulted and kicked out of the vehicle. if you have seen the couple,
