's looking to he's looking to do more tv. it's been nearly 30 years since "dynasty" went off the air, but i got a chance to sit down with crystal carrington herself, talking about linda evans. the 73-year-old has a debilitating illness, severe depression and at one point thought about taking her own life. seems impossible to imagine, but it's all in her book, and linda walked me through how her world completely crumbled.

i didn't understand depression, and my blood pressure went up. it just became a nightmare. >> as many as 21 million a week tuned in to those legendary cat fights between crystal and alexis. but after the show ended her spiral began. when people she loved dearly faced serious health issues. >> i had never been in a situation where so many people i loved were having so much trouble. >> what were some of the toughest times? >> when i was to take blood pressure medicine, and i didn't like the way it made me feel. i stopped. and i was outside, and i think because i hadn't taken my blood pressure medicine, it just went very, very high. and blacked out. just blacked out. next thing, i was face down in the gravel, and i just got up and my face was bloody, and i went oh, my god, what just happened to me, and i realized i just needed help.

the depression, linda wrote a book that she's just updated, "recipes for life." >> a friend said you have to do something that makes you happy. food makes me happy. >> there's even a chapter that mentions e.t. filming her after a flight with the blue angels. >> more, more, more. forget about the amutsment parks. >> i have to tell you something. >> tell me. >> i was so sick when i got off that plane, which i didn't want to admit to you guys. i was violently sick. >> really? >> but just three years ago, linda was struck with a sickness much more severe. a sudden onset of back pain so excruciating she considered suicide. >> i really understood why people said maybe i don't need to be alive, because it's so painful to be alive. and nobody had an answer. thought about that? >> absolutely. i said there has to be an answer. this is not living.

hair loss, a shock to this woman whose big hair was once copied by stylists everywhere. >> it's not my hair. it's a wig. this is a wig. because my hair fell out. >> linda has been pain free for a year now after a laser procedure, and her hair will grow back. >> it's going to take me a couple years to grow my hair back, but in the meantime, i just feel fine. it's okay. thank god. they have these things for us. so, if we can just have some compassion with each other and the journey that we go through, and to actually support people in those times, and not try to hide, the hiding is the part that's off, like we're ashamed of something. ashamed that i survived my back? no, i am a warrior. i got pain free. and so, i'm celebrating it, and so if i have to wear wigs and sometimes put pieces and a hat on, a baseball hat, there's all
