weak cold front that will move by today. it will basically keep it weres it it weres -- keep it where it's at. medina, 71. you're going to find snow showers moving through. the heaviest of which, right now, up to northeastern cuyahoga county through beachwood, larger flakes in lake county. perry toward madison, you're going to be next. eventually chardon is well over geauga county. down south, also seeing a couple of larger flakes coming into stark county now. should move just north. even there you may see a couple of flurries. this morning, near 30 this afternoon. partly sunny skies. little to no accumulation with the snow this morning.

impact on the morning drive. you're tracking these snow showers. that's gray. nothing like yesterday. and those accidents we told you about. they're in the clearing phases. that accident has actually cleared. on east 152nd street, that's in the clearing phases according to cleveland police. now, in akron, euclid avenue is going to close between diagonal road and east avenue because of a water main break. listen up, take easter avenue as a detour to get around, adding one to two minutes to your commute. here is a picture of your area, not seeing those snow showers there. black pavement, nothing like yesterday. coming up at 5:15 we'll track the drive on 77. >> much better today.

learn more about the man police say stabbed a security guard multiple times. >> tiffany, the attacker is under arrest this morning. old. we could learn about his name and his background. a security guard at suma st. thomas hospital, they say the suspect was actually a patient who had just been transferred to a psychiatric ward. the guard was stabbed in the stomach. it was an unprovoked attack, according to a statement they released. there was a lot of blood on the scene. the victim taken to the hospital for surgery. while his exact condition is unknown this morning, mrs. say it looks like he's going to be okay. coming up in the next half hour, i will let you know how

that attack and get that suspect in custody. live in akron, tiffany tarpley, channel 3 news. >> pretty frightening. trial begins today for a man accused of killing a father and his two children. he's charged with the murders of john color and his son and daughter. his girlfriend was also shot in the head, but she survived. if convicted, he could face the death penalty. his brother has already been sentenced to life in prison for his role in the crime. police say an 84-year-old woman driving a green subaru hit him and two parked cars. a valet driver said he had to drive off quickly to avoid getting hit. i look up and i see her car

she was pressing full on. >> lorraine says the man is in fair condition. the driver will likely have to retake her driver's test. >> meanwhile, an elderly man will also have to retake a driving test after driving his car off the embankment. the 79-year-old was on his way to overlook beach park, but he missed the curve and landed below. they helped him recover his dogs who were all okay. and then they towed his car. >> the orange village fire department urged people with hover boards to take precautions. firefighters say the family used an extinguisher to put it out. the fire department warns it is important to have one handy if you own these devices.

>> new overnight, apple is saying no. tracy potts has the story. >> reporter: they're going to try to fight it in the courts. they have a pretty lengthy response to this order posted on their website. very interesting. apple argues that they to not currently have the technology to unlock the iphone. they can't bypass your pass code when the iphone is locked. to create it would create a dangerous precedent.

to create a back door on the phone that if used could be a threat in the wrong hands. they have no sympathy for terrorists, but this is a very bad precedent that would have a chilling effect. the government argues that what's on that phone is critical and relevant to their investigation. they want to find out who the shooters were communicating with, if anyone helped them plan it, where they traveled before the attack. the gps on that phone could help them out with that. they say they have been to access information from the icloud backup, but it's about a month and a half old. they believe that farook disabled the backup to try to hide it. they need more current information that was closer to the time of the december attack. as you know, 14 people were killed, and the government is

snowflakes. a thin coat is possible on your car or driveway this morning. also seeing the snow showers moving by through akron, down toward canton. a little burst. here's what we're looking at, those morning snow showers kicking up this afternoon milder weather is ahead. it's looking pretty nice, saturday, sunday, monday. we'll do a little melting before the rest of the week. notice behind it, there's some lake snow kicking up in superior and michigan. i think lake erie could give us a couple of snow showers. time. this is going to race across the state. unlike the last several, this one is tracking to the north. we'll get a good south wind.

we start your morning rush with a hospital security guard who at last check is recovering this morning after being stabbed multiple times at the hospital. it happened last night at st. thomas here in akron at 7:00. the guard is 54 years old. the suspect here who is also a patient is 33, and in custody this morning because he was caught on a lockdown psychiatric floor. i reached out to a lieutenant with the akron police department to get more

northeast ohio. 27 in elyria. 27 over toward mansfield this morning. there are the flakes you saw in tiffany's live shot. they're in cuyahoga county and lake and geauga county. they're also moving very quickly to the east. another little burst moving into downtown coming off lakewood back over toward euclid. it's already ending in medina. and these snow showers will continue to push toward the east as we go through the morning. maybe a snow shower off the lake this afternoon. temperature near 30. even though you're tracking the snow, we look great on the traffic map. just take a look at this picture, i-90 at state route two and everybody getting by just fine. watch for wet roads. we're not seeing accumulation on the roads. we have normal drive times to the north. only one incident to talk about that may frustrate your commute

it's only 58 degrees higher than here. for my take this morning, the nba trade deadline is 3:00 p.m. the cavs have been one of the most talked about rumored teams this week. should they make a trade. biggest rumors, of course, have all surrounded kevin love. the cavs said they figured it would be love to go. griffin is hurt, and he just apologized for hitting the equipment manager. cavs don't need locker room drama now to disrupt what's already here. plus, the cavs have made their most important trade. moving up and moving out david blatt. that gives his team is better chance at winning. if you want to be on the floor, you're going get tired. we all have to accept it.
