haven't been able to come up with a complete pay plan to follow. we spoke to cleveland schools ceo before news about the strike became public. here's what he had to say about the new school year. >> i tell my team all the time, opening schools should not be an event. it should be routine. i've seen schools ready, students grouped in classes. they're teaching and learning. that's what i want to see. >> if a strike happens, it would impact 40 40,000 students. there's a plan in place to minimize the impact by the district. >> all right. thank you. new developments in the hazing allegations involving the streetsboro high school marching band the school superintendent says students were pushed into a lake

wrapped in plastic wrap to trees or knocked in skits at band camp. the allegations initially came to light last week the band director and assistant band director were put on administrative leave. the district says they're currently searching for interim band director. after investigating a death from a dump truck that hit a man yesterday. troopers say carter crash into nine vehicles in a construction zone in erie county sunday. a 146-year-old new york girl was killed in the crash. seven others were hurt. changes is inevitable but

replacement project. john and 4lena, back to you. >> thank you. most cleveland students return to school yesterday. this morning, one day in, word about a possible teacher strike spread quickly throughout the district. >> alyssa raymond joins us. now how school leaders are responding to that. >> john and lena, cleveland teacher's union announced it intends to district and teacher's union have been working on a new deal since last november. cleveland teachers say they're working under a deal that expired on july 1st. the school district says they've spent hundreds of hours in bargainings. it's unfortunate the teacher's union put efforts toward a strike instead of working toward few remaining items, they say.

today. the school district does have a plan in place and continuing to look at that plan in case teachers end up striking next week to minimize that impact. if teachers do end up striking, it will impact 40,000 students. that's attendance and enrollment at the cleveland metro school district. we'll check in with the district today as well as the union to find out >> thank you. new search efforts ramp up this morning to find a lost nazi gold train. >> the train went missing in 1945. the legend has been drawing treasure hunters toft area for deck -- to the area for decade with no luck. two men claimed to have located it using radar technology.
