in the final few days of the 2016 summer games, we, of course, are covering every angle for you this morning throughout the day. we want to know what is your favorite olympic moment. there have been so many interesting moments that have come out of the olympics both with the games and outside of the games. it has been an interesting time. >> reporter: did you have a favorite moment >> my gut is katy beating herself. >> mine have to be both of the simones, holding it down for team usa there. forecast actually looks decent up until about dinner time tonight. a couple of scattered showers

overnight hours through early tomorrow to start off your sunday. current temperatures outside in the 60s. you'll notice that from mansfield to elyria. 74 downtown and water temperatures upper 70s near 80. we are nice and dry to start off your saturday. if you are thinking of going on that morning run or jog along the lakeshore there, that was a microphone dropping by the way, if you are our west, that is that line of scattered showers and thunderstorms stretching from, say, green bay wisconsin all the way down toward the arch way to the west, st. louis, and then into memphis, tennessee. all that have racing toward northeast ohio. it gets here around supper time tonight. but that is before topping out around 90 degrees this afternoon. we'll talk more about that and more, just minutes away.

are displaying their work. we have people from florida, north carolina, georgia, like i said all across the country. they are expecting this inaugural event to attract more than 100,000 people. today you can find sculptures, paintings, jewelry, and of course food which many people consider a form of art. one artist we spoke with was richard wilson. some of his work actually appeared in the movie barber shop. he is from north carolina and festival in columbus, that attracts 400,000 people. here's what he had to say. >> i do about 70 shows a year. i do mainly a lot of shows in ohio but i also do a gigantic gift show in chicago. a lot of my work is mainly cleveland area landmarks that i turn on wood, which makes it

a schmuck break of zika virus is spreading in florida. the florida governor announced there are five new cases. those infected are within a one and a half mile section of miami beach, including popular south beach. now the cdc is warning pregnant women to stay away from miami beach. >> the key here is pregnant women. pregnant women are at the greatest risk because of the risk of microcephaly and other serious birth defects.

mosquitoes that can breed in just a teaspoon of water. sanitation workers in miami are walking the streets going door- to-door and stepping up efforts to rid the city of standing water. the government's safe to sleep campaign has helped reduce the you number of children lost to sids. however many parents still place their babies in dangerous sleep environments. researchers looked at video recordings from the family homes of more than being recorded most parents did not follow safe practices. many placed babies on their stomachs or sides or put them in an adult bed. as many kids head back to school this week it is not too early to prepare them for a successful year. pediatricians at new york presbyterian hospital suggest parents gradually begin to get kids to bed earlier. if your child has allergies, speak to the

year begins and don't forget to see a doctor to update vaccines, get sports physical and his test for potential vision or hearing problems. mcdonalds will stop giving out kids activities trackers in happy meals. the company had been offering one of six in its meals but potential report of skin irritation has stopped the chain from distributing the wearables. a rep for mcdonalds says the company is investigating and restaurants are offering an alternative toy. timing is everything for olympic athletes. what they can't plan on are aches and pains and injuries. so more competitors are turning to the practice of dry needleling. it is note acupuncture but a senior health correspondent monica robbins says it is a natural way to take the hurt away. >> reporter: the u.s. women's volleyball team does it for

the pain. it is dry needling. >> it needs to change the way the muscles are firing. it can help the muscles relax, which then also can reduce pain. >> reporter: alex pierce took up distance running a few years ago. then she developed pain so severe she couldn't climb a flight of stairs. she went to see physical therapist matt briggs who performed dry needling to glutes. >> i didn't realize how not my legs were before i got that and how much deeper a needle can go. >> reporter: small, nonmedicated solid needles are inserted into muscles or connective tissue. unlike acupuncture this is performed by a physical therapist. the purpose is not to redirect the body's energy flow, instead

problem areas. >> you can put the needle in and pull it out quickly. there might be times we leave the needles in for up to 5, 10, maybe even 30 minutes to allow the body to accommodate to that. >> reporter: a word of caution dry needling for pain therapy is under the microscope. not enough research has been done to support claims of scientific proof. briggs and his colleagues are studying the practice to figure out if it countless olympians are believers. pierce is too. >> it made a big difference as far as relaxing the muscles and helping them restrengthen themselves. just ahead a dream job for kids. how your child can become a toy tester. and michael is keeping an eye on the weekend forecast. >> reporter: so far so good. but showers and thunderstorms are on the way. overnight tonight into early tomorrow, but here's the good news. it may help to wash some of the

into the low 80s but i think we'll see more scattered showers and thunderstorms. a few of those thunderstorms could be heavy at times, we'll talk about that in a second. temperatures outside in the 60s and 70s. dry right now but just off toward our west it is an area of low pressure with an attached cold front. it is that cold front that moves toward northeast ohio and continues to drive toward the east. that is going to then initiate thunderstorms as it approaches to northeast ohio. let's take that cold front and time it out and show you when it arrives here. this morning looks excellent. so now through lunch time it looks beautiful if you want to head out and about perhaps to the bratwurst festival looking great. after 6:00 p.m., that is when we start to see perhaps a few scattered showers ahead of the

some of the old slides will receive some upgrades before the new season and new restaurants will also go into the park. cedar shores will be open in may of 2017. the ongoing effort to improve ties with community. people in cleveland can expect to see this new ride showing up at events. the police department was able to get the truck with a grant from st. luke's foundation and wrapped it thanks to the generosity of people in a gofundme campaign. now you can find it at a voices against violence event in treatment park. it is the first in a fight against cancer. yesterday marked the first relay for life in downtown

american cancer. wkyc was one of the teams walking, and it is a chance to participate, celebrate people who have battled cancer and remember loved ones. artists will fill the east bank of the flats. this weekend is the inaugural flats festival of the arts. channel 3's alyssa raymond joins us with more on day two of this three day festival. i think we have been selling it all morning. michgo says it is phenomenal. i have seen previews and it looks like the artists are just amazing. and. >> reporter: it is my turn next. after i'm doesn't working i'm going to check it out. i tried to peak into your tent for you. tina tiara's. as you can see all of these tents winds around the east

we talked about more than 100 artists here from all across the country, florida, atlanta, and even right here in ohio. they are expecting this inaugural festival to draw more than 100,000 people and getting bigger from here on out. you can expect art performances and food. one artist we spoke to was richard wilson. some of his work appeared in he is from north carolina and usually participates in the festival in columbus. that one attracts about 400,000 people. here's what a few artists had to say about this inaugural festival here on the east bank. >> i came back to ohio a lot of the people there have a lot of repeat customers and a lot of them said they would see me at this show.

example she started before they were even born. >> grew up my whole life doing gymnastics. >> reporter: and during college it happened. >> i was performing a skill that i had done hundreds of times and i broke my ankle. >> reporter: and in a risky surgery. >> the bone died. >> reporter: she spent decades in pain, enduring more than 20 surgeries. >> i was 20 years depressed with that. >> reporter: and three years ago, finally made the tough call. >> replaced with a prosthetic. >> this leg was a $28,000 leg. i should be able to fly in it for that amount. >> reporter: but, never quit on the sport. opening her own gym. >> arms up. >> reporter: and showing her students what a little motivation can do. >> yeah. you are on that. >> she still does gymnastics
