saturday, october 8th. we are -- the temperature is changing a little bit. michael has that in a second. you can see the winds pick up and everything. we are, like i said, getting healthy. alyssa out there talking about the hart walk. then we have our health and wellness expo happening this weekend, today, actually. we are going to be out there later this morning. >> 10 a.m. >> yeah. we are going to keep you updated on how you can come out and enjoy those health benefits. anybody up morning is probably one of those weekend warriors. a lot done during the day. maybe you are headed out for a walk or run or taking the dog out. >> exactly. just kind of getting a jump start on your weekend. again, 5:00 on the dot. here's the deal. you'll notice a lot of cloud cover overhead. did you notice any clouds when you were coming in this morning or any of that wind? >> too tired. i was paying attention to the road, michael. >> good call. very good answer there, maureen.

but also a couple of 50s. you'll notice that back towards mansfield, seeing 50s crawl in towards the west. cooler air on the way. notice that our winds generally from the northwest between 15 to 20 miles per hour, especially further toward the lake. so it's the cool breeze that'll continue through the better half of the morning and into the afternoon. the bark on the radar, of course, a whole lot more intense than a ground clutter. but a couple of isolated sprinkles being seen right along, say, interstate 76. otherwise, though, we are relatively dry. that's the way we stay through your morning. eventually those clouds break down. the sun comes out warming temperatures into the 60s later on this afternoon. we'll talk more about hurricane

ahead. >> all right. yeah, we are actually getting an update on that. michael it's just been unbelievable to see some of the video. >> not only the caribbean, but from na fla, south carolina, north carolina, and georgia. it is a very impactful system so one thing we'll update you on through the morning. >> thanks so much. we do want to talk about hurricane matthew. it has lost some of its wind speed, but hurricane matthew remains a dangerous storm. it's especially because of the intense rain and storm surge there is concern it could be made even worse because of high tides in some areas. more than a million customers have lost power in florida. the storm is being blamed for four deaths so far in the u.s. in haiti, the government says 300 people have been killed, but that number is likely to rise. new this morning, donald trump is apologizing for some

ago, but he's also kauging -- calling it a distraction and trying to turn the tables on hilary clinton. bryan moore brings us the latest from washington. >> an old recording creating new problems and a bad time for donald trump. >> i moved on her, and i failed. i'll admit it. i did try and [ bleep [ her. she was married. >> trump's comments were captured by an open mic. months after marrying melania. >> when you're a star, they let you do it. >> trump issued a statement saying, "i apologize if anyone was offended." >> i've said some foolish things, but there's a big difference between the words and actions of other people. bill clinton has actually abused women, and hilary has bullied, attacked, shamed, and intimidated his victims. >> among those offended, party chair and several other top

and said trump would no longer be attending a wisconsin event on saturday as scheduled. hilary clinton tweeted, "women have the power to stop trump." donald trump struggled to connect with women just got a little bit tougher. >> trump says his running mate, mike pence, will represent him in wisconsin while the nominee remains in new york preparing for the debate with his top advisors. >> bryan,nk republican ohio governor john kasich is also weighing in on the controversy. he tweetd, quote, make no mistake, the comments are wrong and offensive, they are indefensible. end quote. state troopers are warning drivers to take extra precaution after at least two people have been struck while changing tires in under a week. a pedestrian was struck at i-490 near east 55th in cleveland last night, sending him to the hospital. he was just changing a flat

unknown friday evening, and just last weekend, a group of people were injured on the side of the road on i-480 westbound near state road. one person died. two others were hurt. troopers suspected drunk driving played a role in that crash. it's become a piece of amusement park history. big dipper is one of the oldest coasters in the world. the ride was auctioned off after the park closed in 2007. there was talk to save it, but today, a bane bridge trustee says that it will come down in the coming weeks. the trustee says cedar fair, which owns the coaster, is getting into -- no word yet on what will become of the land. excitement filled downtown as the indians were one win away from advancing. the indians beat boston last night 6-0. the cleveland indians will travel to boston with two games to none lead in the american league division series against

the 2016 hart -- heart walk returns. it raises money to help save lives from two top killers, heart disease and stroke. that's where we find alyssa getting a jump start this morning. >> it's a little windy out here so i expect people to be working extra hard to walk that mile and three-mile loop battl t beautiful day. we are expecting the sun to come up and warm things up a little bit chl here with us this morning is lynn with the american hart association. what type of activities are you going to have going on today involved with the walk? >> thank you. we are so excited to have people join us for the 2016 cleveland hart walk this morning. at 8:00, our festivities start. we'll have lots of different activities going on there educating the public about hart healthy living, lifestyle,

sort. we have our walk that starts at 10 a.m. it's a 3-mile walk. then swe also have our 1-mile survivor walk. >> how does walking benefit your life and what do you recommend doing? >> so with the american heart association, we anticipate and recommend people will walk 30 minutes a day getting up and around and moving. that is really great to do to be healthy for your heart. >> how many vendors do you have participating this year? >> we have over vendors. we have corporate sponsors, and, of course, wkyc that is supporting us today. it's so exciting because these vendors, these companies, also come here and help support, you know, advocating for heart healthy living and lifestyle. >> fabulous. we do want to let everyone know, again, that is festivities begin

100 careers. it's wot a special celebration. a photographer decided to visit 59 parks this year in honor of their sen -- caught up with him as he started his colorado visit at rocky mountain national park. >> started in dc. >> over thousands of miles. >> we've been traveling now for about nine months. >> along winding roads. >> like, the world's longest day, and that is so mh gl perhaps no one has seen more of america's national parks in 2016. >> we'll drooef around a little bit. >> than photographer jonathan irish and his traveling companion, stephanie payne. >> i bet nobody has used this path better than we have this year. >> this past january, irish, whose photographs have appeared in national geographic, embarked on the greatest road trip, with the goal of visiting all 59 national parks in all 50 states,

virgin islands and american samoa. >> it's funny because this is the greatest american road trip, but we can't road trip everywhere. i mean, there's places we have to fly to. >> now, they are in colorado. >> these guys don't seem phased at all. >> to visit the state's four national parks. first stop, rocky mountain national park. >> it's an honor to be close to them. >> where the elk are out and about. >> you get to really see how they breathe and their movement. you know, it's amazing to be in their territory, in th >> sometimes, though, nature can sneak up on you. >> suddenly, we turn around, and another grizzly had walked up behind us and sat down probably about 10 feet from us. >> but with each photograph taken comes a sense of awe. >> every time i look through a new batch of them, i'm pretty amazed and overwhelmed. >> and at each stop, every park gets a chance to shine. >> some of the parks that aren't as famous are all really amazing, and each and every park

tight. all i know is you can leave the rain shoes at home today. >> okay. >> this is the good news. a couple isolated showers in the forecast for today, but overall, i think oes of us stay dry. you'll notice the cloud cover through the morning hours, and you'll also notice the breeziness and a cool breeze out there, as well. by 9:00, temperatures only in the mid 50s. i think by lunchtime, temperatures nearing that 60-degree point with highs at 63 degrees, and i eventually think that we'll see more sunshine through the afternoon. your day tomorrow, another day with not only clouds but mix in with some sunshine before more mild temperatures roll in by next week, and speaking about mild temperatures currently in the mid and upper 50s, generally west of 77 and right along 77 and east of 77 is where current temperatures are in the 60s. but, again, those winds out

into the afternoon. just a couple of isolated sprirng ls we're seeing over lake erie compliments of a cold front moving through. notice all of the rain fall in front of that, that moves out, which is the good news, but, of course, all eyes are on the southeast end on hur kaun math -- hurricane matthew. let's talk more about it. notice the hurricane warnings that still extend into the southern reaches there of north carolina. above that p tropical storm warnings are, and what we're anticipating is for matthew to take a sharp right turn, and notice the intensities, by the way. i think that through the end of the weekend, we'll see that category 1 -- eventually weaken to a category 1 before making that pivot, and although it should then, let's call it, do a loopdy loop towards the bahamas, i think by that point, most of the intensity of matthew will

so notice those winds only at 35 miles per hour at that point. so thank goodness we'll see some weakening. otherwise, through the afternoon, i think that the clouds begin to fade, the sun begins to creep on out, and we'll call it a decent fall day here in northeast ohio. over the evening hours and through early tomorrow morning, a beautiful start to your sunday. only about a 10% chance for a stray shower on your sunday. so most stay nice and dry through the weekend. temperatures today look like this. low to mid 60s for highs under partly cloudy ski overnight lows tonight, mid 40s and perhaps lower 50s with your window nation 7-day forecast showing you the small little warmup as we cruise into the middle half. so 70s are back, but will be a far cry from the 81 degrees that we made it up to yesterday. >> i know. it really felt like summer. i was in shorts all day. >> i was, too. i went down to progressive field area, not to the actual game. it was hot outside.

heart association. kelly, there's so much to do -- oh, shelly. sorry. shelly weber. there's so much for kids to do, too. >> our kid zone, which will be in the center, we are going to have inflatables, a balloon artist, a face painter. we'll have a teechg garden station where kids can plant a seed, take it home with them, hopefully learn about building their own plants and vegetables in their garden. we will have different stations and different props that people can use. we want people to use our hashtag, cleheartwalk or hashtag clevelandheartwalk. >> what will people find in all these tents? >> you'll be able to do hands-only cpr demo. you will also have stations. we have various sponsors. cleveland clinic is our main sponsor of the event this year and also nationally by subway. still have lots of different health information and wellness information in the cleveland clinic tent. we will have -- at different tents, we'll have physical activity exercises.

mainly in lake erie, but notice that it'll tickle parts of northern loraine county and eventually even squeak into downtown cleveland. something to watch out for within the next hour or so. otherwise, the forecast for today looks like this. temperatures cooling through the morning, eventually rebounding once sunrise happens. i think by lunchtime, temperatures nearing 60. highs this afternoon, only in the low to mid 60s. so noticeably cooler as oed we saw yesterday, but don't you worry, though, if you are a fan of this warm sort of fall feel. not to worry. by this upcoming workweek. maureen, we are back in the 70s. >> oh, wow, okay. as long as it's comfortable. as long as it's not, like -- >> freezing cold. >> we need a fall. we can't go from summer to winter. that's all i'm asking. >> no, we won't. >> thanks so much. well, this morning, we are

the good news. then for your sunday night -- your saturday night, rather, into early sunday morning, things look great as you're out the door for worship services. a slight chance for a stray sprinkle. that'll be very few and far between tomorrow on your sunday, which is the good news. forecast for today, calling for temperatures low to mid 60s. eventually becoming partly cloudy. again, we are cooler and more windy. winds from the northwest between 15 to 20 miles per hour sustained retreating back into the 40s and low 50s. turn off the a/c units. i know that a lot of folks, perhaps had their air-condition on over the past couple of days just because of the heat. that's a thing of the past, though. so turn off the a/c. save a couple of bucks. i think tomorrow, we enjoy more peeks of unshine, and then into next week, tuesday and wednesday, we are back in the low to mid 70s with sunshine, especially on tuesday.
