urban educator of the year and he traveled from northeast ohio down to miami florida. he didn't know beforehand that he would actually be the winner. we did. we sent a reporter there to capture this event. he competed with 9 other superintendents from around the nation of big city schools. the council of the great city schools decides who receives this national award and cleveland metropolitan school district most recent report card they received straight f's but gradon the students and there's been an increase in enrollment. >> i just can't believe it's real. i know it's all the hard working people on the team in our city. if the cleveland plan works where everyone is on education and it's the only city that can say that. >> reporter: speaking of the cleveland plan this comes as the district is trying to get voters to support the levy renewal on the ballot this

right there and go all the way to miami to get it. thanks so much. it's 6:09. we want to get you caught up on the big stories of the morning with the morning news feed. two people have been arrested in connection with a school shooting that happened in san francisco earlier this week. four students are shot as classlet out on tuesday. four men dressed in black hoodies approached the victims on foot. they shot the students before running from the area. all four victims are expected to survive. > el chapo guzman is one step closer to being extradited to the u.s. to face drug and conspiracy charges. yesterday a mexican federal judge ruled to extradite him but he has one more appeal. 25% of drugs funneled into the u.s. from mexico are linked to him including right here in cleveland. earlier this month 20 arrests made as part of a heroin ring
