federal and airlines officials predict it's the biggest thanksgiving travel season in history. i did a quick check of the board departures and arrivals and there's only one delay this morning. delayed just a few minutes. so far things are going well and hollie i met two families on their way to california. i kind of want to go with them. >> oh. you stay here tiffany. we have got some fun thanksgiving side dishes at the station for you. we continue to share them am doing one of the family favorites. and maybe you are doing the same. kind of prepping for tomorrow. have errands to run and if travel is included in your forecast roads will be wet today. it's dry right now as you wake up. we will see i think a few peeks of sunshine initially and hold off on rain chances in most spots until the afternoon unless you are far west. even there i think you know chances should be pretty slim early today. we are in the 40s for highs but we are in the 20s currently.
5:32 am
way we are seeing a mix of rain and sleet currently in spots west because temperatures are in the 20s to near 30 degrees. this rain will continue to push eastward and as far as the time frame for all of you i am thinking more afternoon and into the evening as far as the wet roads. 9 a.m. we are still seeing breaks in the cloud cover. and then as we get into -- get into the afternoon we see scattered showers popping up. danielle roads will be wet eventually. okay make sure save traveling today with the wet roads. we don't want you to get in an accident. we start in brunswick because that's where we have a traffic incident. the only one of the day for right now. hancock road is closed between center road and keller hanna drive due to a water main break. i spoke with the brunswick police and they are not sure how long it will be closed. cleveland water is responding to this one. so if you need to get around it this morning you can take pearl road as a detour option. we are looking great on the

drive times so you are good to go. john and lynna back to you. >> danielle thank you. another police officer shot the in michigan overnight. >> yeah maureen kyle has more on that story in the morning news feed. very troubling. >> reporter: and we are waking up to learn a little more about the officer deism it to police say a wayne state university -- police say a-- about this officer. police say a wayne state university police was shot in the thefts from cars and stopped someone on a bike to ask questions and the gunman opened fire. the officer was critically wounded. police have a person of interest in custody at this point but they won't say if he is the suspected shooter. history on wall street this morning. the dow jones closed above 19,000 yesterday. that's the first time it finished that high in the 120 year history. all four major u.s. stock indexes touched record high territory for the the second

5:35 am
better have that id on you in case you ever make it to the white house. >> that's funny. when the cavs went to the white house channing frye forgot his and he got in. yeah. i think he had a lot of people vouching for him. >> secret service was probably all right you make us laugh. >> do the dance. >> ellen has danced and she was wearing the pant suit. >> i am glad she got in. a reporter in restaurants getting will ujek continues the web series. >> today he heads to the east side for a chat with the cleveland pops orchestra conductor. >> reporter: i will will ujek and that is reporter in restaurant getting root beer. tell me something about conducting that people don't know because if you don't-- if you never conducted you think it's a guy doing this. >> absolutely. >> reporter: what are you doing up there? >> interestingly when i play

5:40 am
5:40. donald trump wakes up in florida today to celebrate thanksgiving with his family. >> and this morning, we are learning more about trump's cabinet for that we go to nbc news correspondent edward lawrence who joins us live from washington. good morning edward. >> reporter: good morning john and lynna. he has a lot of positions to fill at the top but we are in fact a new announcement could be made as early as today. we understand that parade of interviews that he had at trump towers starting to net results in terms of candidates we understand that south carolina governor nikki haley will be tapped as u.n. ambassador. she is critical of donald trump during campaign but this shows he is able to reach out and possibly bring some of the folks into his cabinet. mitt romney is the front-runner
5:41 am
considered as the secretary of housing and urban development. yesterday trump met with "new york times" editorial board to try to burity hatchet with the paper. he told them that it's time to move on from the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. because she suffered greatly. trump may not be able to move on from his issues with his foundation yet in a filing it admitted it violated irs rules and the trump foundation may have to pay penalties and also extra taxes because of filing. and tax attorneys say that this could last at the least throughout the next year or so to try to settle that issue. reporting live from washingtonedward lawrence now back to you. >> thanks for the update appreciate it. 5:41. >> look at that. >> i wonder if greg put the ice skates on. >> he better or he is not coming back. >> questions we ponder this wednesday morning. a live look at public square. how beautiful is this. i mean it really is
5:42 am
weekend? >> i think -- the ice rink opening and he will be talking more about that. and, of course, we are talking all about travel. and the great news is there's nothing icy to worry about. we have got rainy travels that will of course create slow downs and patience on your part and it will be a busy day even yesterday i feel like i've been stopping at the grocery store every day. and sometimes several times a day lately are you there? so it's just everything is busy and you are going to time. we have leftover showers into tomorrow and temperatures close to normal which is really something to be thankful for because i think we will keep this precipitation more or less liquid. cloud cover increases as we head through the morning a few peeks of sunshine we are 40s for highs today. low to mid-40s i think a pretty good gauge right now, though, it's in the 20s so if you have school today, it's your friday. and you need to have your fall jacket or winter coat again. and same thing for you going off to work today.
5:43 am
that matter. increasing cloud cover and then rain showers showing up this afternoon. here's what's on the way if you look at the left hand side of the tv there's plenty going on and as we do track on future view hour by hour, we are fortunate because of this -- if this were to arrive earlier than expected we would have sleet mixing in or wet snow. it looks like it holds off until the afternoon and at that point it's rain and it's going to be scattered throughout the evening and right on into tonight and our thanksng thursday. so wet roads still mean slow downs and extra time on your part. so make sure you are thinking ahead. this is 7:30 tomorrow morning. and many of you depending on how big the turkey is might be putting it in the oven and we have scattered rain showing up and then things kind of quiet down a bit but still spot they showers even through tomorrow afternoon especially close to the lake shore. your window nation 7-day forecast now. and we are 40s for highs right on through black friday.
5:44 am
weekend there's going to be scattered light rain at times. sunday should be dry and milder for next week with temperatures back to around 50 or so. time for doggone weather 5:44 and we have got toby and his new beagel brother trip recently adopted from the friendship animal protective league in elyria. so what a great thing stephanie and dylan. >> i what dog named toby as . >> danielle you are one day closer to a furry friend. >> you have to take care of them they cost so much. oh okay. well let's talk about the traffic. we look great right now at 5:44. so if you are getting a early start on the commute no problems on 77. we are all looking great. now we do have this one traffic incident in brunswick hancock road closed between center road and keller hanna drive.
5:45 am
reopen. so go ahead and take pearl road as a detour option. that's west of the closure. we will look at 71 at 82. and as you can see, traffic is moving just fine. 71 drive times are normal between 271 and 480. john back to you. >> thank you. forget march madness we had november madness fort wayne upset indiana last night in overtime. the fort wayne fans went crazy and stormed the court. after they 68 check out the court celebration. we are going to iso the video on one student to the left. there he is. he is drinking out of a bleach bottle. i really don't think he is drinking bleach but maybe a favorite beverage of his choice. wow. fort wayne will never be the same after that win over indiana. for my take the college football playoff committee did exactly what i was hoping for. they didn't overthink the top 4
5:46 am
followed by ohio state and michigan and clemson. committee did seem to put in a path for other teams to crack the top 4 washington is 5 followed by wisconsin and penn state. the big 10 with four of the top 7. now, here's what's important for ohio state. i think the number 2 ranking is very important for ohio state. i said it for weeks now. if ohio state beats michigan they should be in the playoff regardless if they play for the big 10 title. and i think by keeping state at number 2 now, it will be tougher for the committee to slide the buckeyes out of the top 4 even without winning a conference title. committee can do whatever they want they take a vote every week. but the committee would have to drop ohio state three spots by winning out and the resume would include three wins against the top 8 and 4 in the top 20. clemson washington wisconsin
5:47 am
state oklahoma and colorado none of them can claim that. so the ohio state michigan loser will be out of the playoff so one of the outsiders will move up. but win over michigan should be all the buckeyes need to keep their spot in the the final four. tweet me your thoughts at the john wkyc. i think the resume is too good you can't take them out. las vegas is the city of extravagant shows andpresentations but last night it was not the case for the il for the nhl team this is how it finally looked when the announced the name vegas golden knights. but it took a while. twice the video to unveil the name and logo wouldn't run. so they had to fill time by interviewing the new owner then they brought up the commissioner and not a good start for the expansion team. the owner told all the fans look, our team will be better on the ice than this
5:48 am
you are an expansion team. >> yikes. >> they might go hand in hand here but there you go the vegas golden knights. >> wow. that's not a good sign. >> no. >> all right. 5:48 right now. ways to save is coming up next. stay with us.
