gathered today to remember a u-s marshals deputy killed in the line of duty. deputy commander "patrick carothers" was shot while serving a fugitive warrant on a man who had previously fired at other officers. attorney general loretta lynch spoke at today's ceremony outside atlanta.

lynch also shared a note from president obama in which he said that he was heartbroken and that the american people are indebted to the men and women in law enforcement. a man is recovering tonight after falling one- hu in wilkes county. it happened around 6-30 last night at the e-b jeffress park near the blue ridge parkway. authorities say the man had stopped to take a picture with a friend, climbed a barrier wall and slipped off. it took crews over an hour and a half to rescue him. workers used ropes to get to the man and then pulled him up in a stretcher. new tonight-- a hiker in nevada is recovering after tumbling down a canyon on thanksgiving day. it took rescuers until friday morning to pull him out. the man fell 60- feet down red rock canyon. his injuries are
