repairs. the damage here washing out part of this road carries downstream to rick randall's property. he thinks none of the family was hurt in the flood but says the roads bordering the property need a permanent fix. firefighters say the impact spreads across the road as well. >> there used to be a bridge years ago. they took it out, that's when the trouble began. >> it has limited accessaccess. it would be really hard to get into. >> about 40 homes are impacted by this closure. in the meantime they have to use oxygenendoah road. hs the first time the road collapsed but adds the damage is the worst they have seen in about 20 years or so. emergency officials across our area responded to weather related calls all through the night.

now with more rain in the forecast officials urge those who live in flood prone areas to prepare for possibly the worst. >> two people visit ing from-carrie began trapped and had to be rescued overnight. officials say they tried to drive through high water on river road before barricades were put up. the couple is ok. >> flooding was a concern along fair view road. this is video sent to us by a viewer. it shows a car driving through floodwaters in biltmore village. >> heading into fair view the flooding forced cars to also turn around. >> our team coverage continues in transylvania county where flooding has overwhelmed much of the county. many are stun bid the overnight weather. >> here in rozmond, we are off

from the french broad river. you can see where some of that water has accumulated. last night some three and three quarter inches of rain here in rozamond. the combination of the howling wind and the downpour scombt flooding sent many people scrambling for shelter overnight. earlier we saw signs all over the county of that flooding. by early this morning, some realizing they could no longer weather that storm alone. a red cross shelter was set up at the recreation center right behind tisda elementary, providing relief and hopefully a quick recovery. >> i have never been in this situation so it is shock ing shocking. i just recently moved to rosamond. it kind of makes me want to go back to brevard. >> most are shocked. they didn't realize it was going

night. they are trying to recover, make their plans for recovery. that's what red cross does. we help them on they're recovery plans. >> so a lot of recovery ahead as the red cross shelter will be opened. ear. they'll be open as needed. this morning we saw many detours arpt area where fallen trees and power lines have been, so that's something to be careful of. duke energy working to make repairs. at last check, 189 customers without power at this point. >> the flood threat is not over. more rain is in the forecast. ingrid is tracking how much and when it will get here. >> flood warning is up. you is a why until 1:30. polk county, 15 minutes. rivers are running high across the region.

the fatal shooting of 12-year-old tamir rice. the boy was playing with a pellet gun in november of last year when he was shot. the officer said he felt threatened. families condemned the grand jury decision. they called on people to express themselves peacefully and democrat cli. >> a hazing investigation following the smoky mountain tournament. three players have been permanently suspended from the basketball team. police say they were called to a rental cabin. one of the players had to have emergency surgery. school administrators were not available. a fire broke out after midnight on martin luther king drive. firefighters believe the fire started in the basement. crews rescued one woman who was transported. two other residents got out

we are seeing very little cloud cover. you can see a few of them on the satellite and radar. also very clear skies. this flood watch is out until thursday morning. it is not funnying to be the heavy rain we just saw. any little bit we get will add on top of what we got into this morning. that's why we have a flooding threat still out there. the rivers still running high. and a little bit more water, they could exceed their banks again. that's the idea here. more than eight inches for the month in asheville. a lot of rain for us so far. we'll get a little bit more, not a ton but more in the next 24 hours or so. morning. keep in mind, this is just so interesting to point out, 27 is normal for this time of year. the high temperature normal, 47. the low was only 60. very mild conditions. in fact, we are still in the 50's in burnsville and 51 in

55 in forest city. 68 in greenville. 74 degrees down into greenwood this afternoon. very close to the 70 degree mark in anderson. really, you might not even need that jacket at all today. winds are light at 8. 13 in greenwood. no wind advisory out, anything like that. knoxville, a nice breeze there at 20 miles an hour. looking at the big picture, we have some changes, let's talk about the timeline of this. the cold front that moved through will return as a warm front throughout the day 6:00. we'll see showers return to the forecast. then we'll see clearing skies, it is going to be cooler. 2:00 this afternoon, showing a few clouds, mainly more south than north here in asheville. overall, it is going to be a very nice day through 6:00 with a 20% chance for that rain. overnight, this model is keeping us dry. not until tomorrow morning do we start to see these showers, it

the heavier rain. that's good news especially for the counties like transylvania, buncombe, polk county. today, to real chances for any accumulation. watch here, the southern zones seem to get the bulk of the next system, we are closer to an inch, an inch and a half in greer. they have dropped to two-tenths of an inch. this model picking up a tenth of an inch of rain in asheville. and a little bit closer to the half inch mark. that's a good range, an inch through wednesday into thursday. 68 degrees, expected high temperature in asheville. some locations could be a couple of degrees warmer than that. clouds developing and the rain returns to the region. 70 degrees expected in greenville. further south into the upstate as you saw even warmer and 50's tonight with cloudy skies.
