afternoon. 66 degrees right now. afternoon sunshine. temperatures in the 60's to near 70 degrees as the sun sets staying in the 60's and eventually down to 50. we have a flooding threat out. i'll talk about that coming up. the second round, how much more rain will fall and how cold we'll turn in the new year. >> flooding causes a stretch of a road to collapse. how many people are impacted by this closure? >> this road runs right off lower grassy branch road. those that live in 40 homes have been impacted. they are having to use a single lane dirt road to get home. the impact of the road collapse affects rick randall who lives adjacent to due pray circle. he says the road bordering his property needs a permanent fix. the collapse caused water and

causing quite a bit of damage. >> it lost some mud in the yard and it did some damage to the place, got my water lines and my heat duct system. but i have my family still. >> residents say this is the first time the road collapsed but the damage is the worse they have seen in 20 years or so. look at the damage left behind. it could take days or weeks to repair this. it is going to be the property owner who has to make these repairs. in the meantime all these families waiting for this road to be fixed. >> flooding overnight forced the evacuation of homes in jackson county, six mobile homes along nc 107 passed nc 281. the buildings were damaged according to the jackson county emergency management director todd dillard.

with a high river caused the flooding. >> had some areas over four and a half inches of rain probably now close to five inches of rain. the end flow to lake grenville, duke energy, to protect their damn had to open the floodgates. unfortunately, due to the high water we have had for the last couple of weeks anyway, it has caused flooding in the area. >> mo one was hurt. emergency workers expected high water but they did not expect to have emergency evacuations. coming up tonight, we hear from families who were forced to leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their backs. >> the flooding threat is not over. some folks are under a warning. >> that's because the rivers are still running high. that does include the french broad river, very high. also transylvania county, we have that live flood warning out until 1:30. of course, we'll have that full coverage and a wrap-up this evening.

for now, much better outside. sunshine across much of the region, 65 degrees in our greenville camera. radar and satellite, very calm conditions compared to yesterday evening and late last night. we have seen a lot of sunshine since then. as we are listening to that gentleman speak, this is the threat here, we have seen so much rain. the rivers are high. another chance for rain tomorrow. that's why we have a flood watch out. this is through thursday morning. all the way down into the upstate. refugees. the southern mountains where we have seen a lot of rain already, any little bit will help the rivers t to rise and possibly flow out of their banks again. 60 degree, very unseasonably warm across much of the region. the coolest spot, if you will is 52 in morganton. 66 in asheville.

the wind is is nice. it is a nice breeze. breezy, at 20 miles an hour. 15 down into greer. 12 in anderson. 13 into greenwood. here are the changes, after that front moved through. it will move back into the refugee as a warm front. that will give a chance for rain. really it is taking its time. it looks like it will be mainlnly for the second half of our wednesday. and then things start to dry out in time for new year's. we are e already seeing the sunshine. there it is on the map for you. through 4:00 through dinner time. partly clear skies. the model is holding off the rain until daybreak. we start to see the rain until lunchtime through dinner time. maybe heavy rain at timeme it was back down on these totals for the next couple of hours and into tonight. zero percent chance for most of us. we head into wednesday afternoon, and watch as we see
