which again, goes through thursday morning. the rain likely doesn't show up until tonight into tomorrow. the rivers we're watching closely now, the french broad at blantyre. headed for moderate flood stage by 1 o'clock in the morning tomorrow morning. and dropping slowly all the way in to friday morning. areas in blantyre, they're in southwestern henderson county. those roads along those fields. we have the rain-free conditions now. all of that is going to change as the rain moves south. it will be a lot of rain for some. temperatures. well it was warm. 70s today. they set a record in greer. tied at 72 degrees. we'll see you who is going to get most of it.

>> tammy: a scramble to evacuate homes and close roads. >> larry: hope, no major damage but a massive clean up. >> hope: larry, companies calling in extra crews and emergency responders getting very little sleep. all in all these neighbors are saying they're fortunate no one was hurt. pavement under blue skies. >> i woke up thinking flash floods. what's going to happen when i walk up the hill tomorrow. >> hope: a break now from torerential rain. >> this is mud clay so it's probably slippery. >> hope: the debris missed some of the old eastwood condos by only a few feet. some in the community say they haven't seen flash flooding so dangerous in over 40 years. >> this is biblical proportions rain.

rains that hit last night. >> it happened pretty fast. got the call and got started in to the rescue mode, it was already three to four foot deep moving through the trailer park. >> hope: forcing firefighters to evacuate a dozen families in the mobile home park. and carrying these sheds off the foundation, they seemed to be stopped only by this power pole. >> walls laid over. debris in the road. trailers have several structure damage to them. >> hope: now pressure is building. water is still high with so much to clean up. even more rain forecasted tomorrow. >> i keep looking at my phone maps and radars. keep my fingers crossed and pray happens.

coming in to replace parts of their road which was washed away. the owners there tell me everyone pitched in to haul away tammy. >> tammy: what a mess. news 13's john le is live in rosemund. john, long-time residents there are used to flooding. >> john: that's right. pretty amazing sight out here. it feels like you need a fishing rod out here. i spoke to an alderman who says years of living in the rosemund area, he doesn't have to be told when it's time to leave, he basically knows at the height of out. for those folks, when the time came, they turned to the red cross. >> we don't really worry about it. >> john: on a sunny afternoon in rosemund, an image on hannah ford road that seemed impossible considering the chaos.

again. >> john: and travis left in a hurry. >> everything is gone. we didn't have time to put anything up. >> john: the flooding drove them out of their apartment. >> we just moved in. so most of our stuff is still in boxes on the floor. >> we already didn't have very much. but still. >> john: shortly after 3:00 a.m., they signed in at the red cross shelter. >> i've never been in this situation before so it's kind of shocking. i just recently moved to rosemund. and it kind of makes me want to go back to brevard. >> john: she knows material things can be replaced. something her three-year-old little girl may have to learn soon. the aftermath of the flooding doesn't always recede quickly. leaving behind a picture that

low lying biltmore village, a notorious asheville flood spot was hit again last night. feet of water flowed on to the site. and this morning, it left a tan brown mess behind in the middle of a holiday week. >> it makes it harder to clean up because most of the time there's more cars parked on the roads and stuff. and it's hard to work around traffic. >> ashlea: today that bowl was full. parking lots were closed and trails mostly empty. while the neighborhood waits for the clean up. >> well it's always urgent important. especially coming tomorrow. what we don't get cleaned up tomorrow. and it will probably be double tomorrow. >> ashlea: an eye on the forecast telling residents to clear their home or yard. don't panic but be aware. there were no injuries but eight

>> it was more they were struck and unable to get back. it took them by surprise how quickly the water rose when they got stuck or their car got stuck. >> i got my family still. you know. >> ashlea: high water washed out a road. his house flooded and now about 100 people are largely cut off from emergency services with more rain coming. >> well yeah, i'm worried. but you know, uh, i just gotta take what the good lord gives me, i guess. >> ashlea: now beyond the flooding, officials say what they're really concerned about is downed trees. they say if the winds really pick up, with those rains, the ground is so saturated, we would see trees start to come down. i'm ashlea surles, news 13. >> tammy: make sure you download

weather warnings, updates and alerts. we're still dealing with road closures across our area due to the flooding. >> larry: jaclyn, as we saw from john le, there's some problem areas in transylvania county. >> jaclyn: larry, there are four roads still closed. please avoid those areas if you can on your commute. turning over to jackson county, south river road and old settlement road are still closed due to flood waters. we have those roads listed on wlos.com under the traffic page. west bound traffic is very heavy especially near i-40. that's a look at your on time traffic report. >> tammy: because of an overnight house fire in asheville is still under investigation. firefighters believe it started

not all of you. the rain kind of fizzles out and stays way south of us. high pressure will push that rain down. we get rid of the measurable rainfall as we get in to thursday, friday and beyond. future cast. a closer view of the western north carolinas. after midnight. there's day break. then the bulk of the rain comes in the afternoon hours. it's not going to be a prolonged heavy rain event. rain. most of us again, periods of rain off and on. friday by midnight, still cloudy. in the new year, i think we're dealing with clouds to bring it in. 50s for many mountain valleys. looks like we'll end the streak temperature. 50s and 60s in the upstate. back in to the 60s and 70s tomorrow.
