>> larry: parts of the mountains are cleaning up from a big mess left behind by flooding. and more rain is on the way. >> now we're going to have to pull up the whole floor. >> larry: tonight, team coverage of the damage. >> we just got to work through it. that's what we're going to do. >> tammy: one of the victims of the flooding was an asheville business. we have a look at the damage that a professional cleaning crew has been called in to handle. now from western north carolina's news leader, this is news 13 at 11. >> tammy: heavy rain last night leaves behind a big mess to clean up today in parts of the mountains. >> larry: overnight flooding caused evacuations, roads were blocked by downed trees. and some people had to be

we begin with jason who is tracking more rain heading our way. jason. >> jason: that's right. it's going to take time but that rain is going to come in. flood watches have been issued and they've been out for several days now. these go until 7 o'clock on thursday morning. up to two inches additional rainfall is possible in some of these isolated areas from buncombe county south in to the southern foothills in to southern orgia. clouds overhead. that's the only thing we have going on. watch here along the gulf coast, already starting to stream up northeast. the first places to get it will be the southern portions of the upstate. also a warm front that stretched out right about here. this is just going be to the focus for more of that rain as this warm front begins to move north and west, it pushes that rainfall back in to the

let's show you the potential rainfall amounts here through the day tomorrow will add up over a half an inch in asheville. this is one general idea. even though you see half an inch in greer, i do see some places over the upstate to get an inch easily. that will obviously cause more flooding concerns. general flooding already happening with the rivers and creeks already running high. any additional rainfall is going to go right in to them. flash flooding is still a possibility as well, even here in the mountains. heed any warnings. 60 by the lunch hour. it looks like the rain spreads all across the area by then. upstate you're 60s by 9 anan noon. rain in the forecast and how long it takes before we begin to dry things out. >> larry: flood waters left a lot of mud behind. >> tammy: asheville paint and

hardest hit. it now faces a massive clean up. jerrika, what kind of weather came through there? >> jerrika: tammy, i'm going to take you over to this fence because this really shows just how high the flood waters got. i measured this fence is 6 and a half feet tall so that means the water was at least a foot deep. what was flooded overnight is a muddy mess today. >> i don't think i've ever seen this much mud in my whole life. >> jerrika: asheville paint and powder coat is one business now in mud. the evidence is right in its backyard. >> a lot of this stuff isn't even our stuff. our dumpster floated from here like 150 yards down the street. >> jerrika: now this business has dumpsters that don't belong to it.

to a car. >> devastating. it could have been so much worse. >> jerrika: no one argues the amount of time and effort this clean up will take. putting a sizeable dent in what they found early this morning. >> inside we have some areas that still have a lot of mud and they're in there steam cleaning that right now. >> jerrika: this job is one of many in asheville keeping two professional cleaning services on its toes. >> we might be working until late tonight. calls are still coming in for water damages. >> jerrika: a few inches of standing water in its warehouse isn't the end of the world but it's devastating nonetheless. >> we just gotta work through it. that's what we're going to do. >> jerrika: now the last time that this business flooded was 23 years ago and not as near as

they're two days behind because of that overnight flooding. jerrika insco, news 13. >> larry: heavy rain caused a mess in biltmore village, too. the roads there are covered in mud. and some businesses were flooded. aaron adelson with more on the situation. aaron. >> aaron: larry, it is a mess back down that way. all day people were running late to appointments, if they could find a parking spot. once they did, they tracked mud through the stores. just up the road there, the fire department had to rescue people from their car floating away. swannanoa river road swallowed up. around 1:00 a.m., a father and daughter got stranded. they tried to drive through the water covered road. the fire department came to rescue them.

>> some folks said, hey, att least it's not raining anymore. but i don't think as they walk around, nobody's been really aware kind of the chaos we've been dealing with. >> aaron: there's work on the road but it looks a whole lot better than biltmore village. it's hard to erase the force of the storm. it will take time. brooks brothers needs a new floor. the manager feels thankful nothing else was damaged. >> i opened the doors to basically kind of a silt covered floor everywhere. fortunately, i don't think that there was more than a couple of inches. >> aaron: the cleaning crews have stayed busy. >> it's good to have the steady work. it's kind of a bummer, you know, it's at the expense of people's businesses. it's good for us, though. >> aaron: when you've been

12 hours, you have to entertain yourself. >> it's 100% appropriate to make a variety of sounds doing this work. >> aaron: because of the damage, brooks brothers never opened. the only sales came digitally. >> god bless the internet. >> aaron: the store hopes to open up tomorrow night or thursday. one person told me she's never seen biltmore village look this bad. brooks brothers' manager says this was nothing compared to 2004. >> tammy: emergency crews in reynolds are also cleaning up damage. crews are scraping out a parking lot at the old eastwood condos on charlotte highway. that's where a major mud slide knocked down trees, missing homes. they say they're fortunate their homes were spared.

woodsy area on the side, there was water pouring out of about five different places. and i thought, there's not a creek in the woods. but it was the foot paths that were just flooded and washing out over the curb. >> tammy: firefighters said they haven't seen mudslides there in decades. crews are still working to determine if the retaining wall in transylvania county homes. rosemund was pounded by nearly 4 inches of rain. some say the flood waters were nearly knee-high at times. the red cross set up emergency shelter. a volunteer says they can provide food and medical help if it's needed. >> most of them just are shocked. they didn't realize that it was going to be as bad as it was last night. so they're trying to, you know, recover to the best -- make their plans for recovery. and that's what red cross also does.

>> tammy: the shelter is now closed but could be reopened if this next round of rain causes problems. >> larry: six trailers along nc 107, south of cullowhee had to be evacuated in the middle of the night. several families had to leave with nothing but the clothes on are this backs. no one was hurt. >> we didn't get no warning or anything. right when it happened, we just got up. i put on my shoes and jacket. it was coming up half way. >> larry: emergency officials say the flooding happened because the river was already high. release water from the dam. >> tammy: new at 11, some people in polk county are dealing with a mudslide tonight. it happened on wide oak mountain road. it's a state road that leads to residential development.

featherstone also wanted a family and they always wanted to adopt. >> there are babies who need a home. and currently moms who have made the brave decision to decide not to parent baby. that we, you know, we have a home to offer. and we just decided for this next baby in our family that we wanted to welcome a baby through adoption. >> reporter: they say the birth of their 13-month old daughter, lila increased that desire. >> just seeing how vulnerable she was and in need of our care for everything. and then as a new mom thinking through the amount of babies and children that don't have that opportunity and don't receive that type of care. >> reporter: but adoptions can be pretty costly averaging

>> once we're approved with our home study, we can apply for several private grants which we plan on doing, which will help offset finances. in addition, we're obviously saving ourselves. >> reporter: nicole and jeff are also turning to technology for help. they started a go fund me page. >> i think it's a really cool way to fundraise because it's low pressure. because it gives people an opportunity to give without making anybody feel like they need to give. and that's a value of mine that people would feel comfortable if they want to support us, they can. but that they don't need to. >> reporter: nicole and jeff did a lot of research on possible adoption paths. they say couples need to examine their feelings on open versus closed adoptions and the financial impact. and they say talk to a lot of people who have been through it. >> we have some friends who just recently adopted and feel like their go fund me page was helpful and successful.

how much rain are we thinking? you won't have to go too far south to find one to two inch rainfall totals, especially in the upstate. 90% chance of rain tomorrow. of course it's a given. 53 degrees right now. it is calm. the wind. our dew point has cooled off to 49. we can continue to cool down. good news is the moisture is probably not going to hold as much moisture for us. the air, i should say, is not going to hold as much moisture. 54 degrees. we got a warm front. this is going to play havoc with the forecast. where does this thing situate itself tonight and tomorrow? it's going to provide the rainfall. the focus of the rain for the entire region tomorrow afternoon in to the evening.

how does that happen? colder winds will start to push south. the warm front goes in to a cold front as it moves east, it will dry us out. that happens tomorrow evening. it's going to stay there for several days in to the new year. once we start to see that moisture come back, it's going to mean more rain for us eventually. doesn't look like that's going to happen in the longer term. there's day break. showers popping over the upstate. look at this yellll here and orange, heavy rain. anything more than a half inch an hour could cause flooding concerns. we're going to have potential for flooding as the rivers, creeks, streams remain high. heed any warnings. there you go. 3 quarters of an inch to an inch will do it for many mountain locations. temperatures in the 50s and 60s tonight.

miles an hour. ththkfully no one was hurt. the so-called affluenza teenager has been detained. officials say he violated his probation. couch made headlines in 2013 when he was sentenced to probation for a drunk driving crash that killed four people. during his trial, a psychologist testified that couch suffered from afluenza. >> tammy: an emergency crew rescues a dog. this is what kora looked like when they found her. this is what kora looks like now after getting treatment from a veterinary specialty hospital in raleigh. doctors say she probably wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for those first responders. the american cattle dog rescue
