>> hope:e:one mountain school is struggling to recover from flooding caused by these down pours. >> frank: more on that in just a moment. but first let's check in with chief meteorologist jason boyer. >> jason: flash flood warnings are still out for much of the upstate. greenberg, spartanburg, laurens, greenwood, abbeville, portions of northeast georgia. just avoid flooded areas. obviously flooding has already occurred. some of these roads have been washed out a little bit near the creeks and streams. avoid those areas if you live in a low lying spot, the water may continue to rise. a lot of the mountains are chipped away from this. asheville north, not expecting any additional flooding. the flood watches are there until 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. the i-85 corridor south ward is

rain resides. still a potential for some ooding in these areas. we'll watch it closely. less than half an inch in asheville. look at the difference in the upstate. 1, 2, even closer to 3 inches now. wow. 57 degrees here in asheville. the rain is over for most part. we'll talk about the bigger changes for your new year's eve plans. stick around for that. >> hope: when another round of rain came today, one mountain school was still reeling from the last storm we had. >> frank: mud and flooding caused major damage monday night at artspace charter. news 13's john le is live in swannasome swannanoa. >> john: this is part of what they have to show for it. a couple of full dumpsters full of debris, including a lot of flooring there as a result of the damage. the kids are due back on tuesday.

>> a lot of teachers spend their own money. >> john: they've got a lot of hands on deck to clean up, including professionals, school staff and volunteers. >> overwhelmed despite the amount of damaged. i saw a number of cars here already. and we're a community. >> john: taking water logged roads to the dry cleaners, they say as in the open air. >> we need to take these down. >> john: they did save some dulsimers made by the first graduating class. small victories mean a lot. >> they're not expensive but they have sentimental value. >> john: those small victories are huge. they've got a lot of dumpsters to fill. all this damage at artspace

finalizing their master plan which does address issues as far as mitigating storm water runoff. live here in swannanoa, john le, news 13. >> frank: at least 20 deaths are now being blamed on the historic flooding in missouri and illinois. the rising waters have left several towns across missouri ub merged. residents say they haven't seen flooding like this in 20 years. >> back in 93, we had a week's notice that it was going to get bad. this time, it just popped up like in two days. >> frank: hundreds of additional homes and businesses are at risk as several rivers are expected to crest in a few days. >> hope: police arrested the mayor of waynesville's wife today on drunk driving charges. jackie brown. crossed the median and hit a pick-up truck at 9:00 a.m. she has a court date in

brown is the wife of waynesville mayor gavin brown. new details tonight in the case of the so-called affluenza teenager. ethan couch was supposed to be on probation in texas after being convicted of drunk driving and causing a wreck that killed four people in 2013. but authorities now say that couch, who is 18 now, has been granted a three day delay and deportation. back in 2013 during his drunk driving trial, his lawyers argued the teen suffered from "affluenza" meaning he was a rich kid whose parents did not set limits for him. >> frank: donald trump speaking in a rally in hilton. he took on his republican

and he had particularly harsh words for hillary clinton. >> i just don't like to use the same things twice on my enemies. we view this as war. don't we view this as war? it's war. >> frank: while he currently attacks hillary clinton, in a 2008 blog post, trump wrote she would make a great president. >> hope: requireshe ncdot to study and recommend changes to state law to increase bike safety. but as one cycling advocate tells news 13's evan donovan, the focus should be on educating drivers to share the road. >> evan: riding a bicycle can be dangerous. increase safety for our two-wheeled friends.

struggle in cycling. >> evan: sometimes cyclists like to take the lane, riding in the center to prevent dangerous passing and that's a legal move. >> the cyclists should have the full use of the lanes. >> evan: cyclists also make themselves more visible by riding next to each other in the lane. these new changes would limit cyclists to riding two abreast. something that might not be good for car drivers. >> a lot of times it behooves the motorist to ride up. each one of those cyclists had to roll through one at a time, that would create more congestion congestion. this gives more room to the cyclists and increases the safe

david located in now your news 13 skywatch weather. >> jason: good news is the rain has ended for most of us in the mountains. we have not seen nearly the amount they have seen over the upstate. showers still happening. thankfully a lot of that is moving east of i-85.

river at blantyre. no other areas really affected. if you're around the rosemund area and farther northeast of there, that's where we're finding flooding still over the french broad and its banks. this is going to be the trend for the rest of the evening in the upstate. the threat for flooding pretty much over now. the flash flood warnings will expire shortly if they haven't already. future radar, you can see a few showers possible the next couple of hours. really the idea is it's going to be cloudy and it's going to get cooler. 61 degrees right now in asheville. we've held that temperature for several hours now. north wind at 8. that's the big difference. a north wind indicates cooler and dry air. where's the cold air? look to the north. look at this. cold northerly winds blowing across the upper midwest. teens as you get toward minneapolis. areas in detroit, it's near

cold front will make its way through. when it does, it's going to be a noticeable change for us coming in the new year. the front moves east, the rain goes with it. even though we may hang on to showers. we get cold and certainly breezy tomorrow. and even colder still in to new year's day. it's the trend that we have been waiting for. january weather is certainly on the way as we get more average temperatures for this time of the year. future cast. clouds linger most of the evening. starting to break those clouds up tomorrow. sunshine here going over the upstate. we'll start to see the clouds thicken up again on to new year's day. staying pretty cloudy on to the early part of the weekend. rainfall amounts minimal. mostly a third to an inch. lows tonight in the 40s in the mountains. look for 50s.

here only lasted a few minutes. cosby did not enter a plea and simply answered yes when he was asked if he understood the charges against him. bill cosby walking to court today, arraigned on three felony charges, including aggravated indecent assault. allegations brought by a woman here in pennsylvania, reexamined by police leading to the comedian's arrest today. the former temple university employee claiming cosby sexually assaulted her in his pennsylvania mansion. >> mr. cosby urged her to take and to drink wine. the effect of which rendered her unable to move, respond to his advances.

there wasn't enough evidence to pursue the case. and settled with cosby in court. led them in part to reopen that criminal investigation. cosby admitted to giving quaaludes to women. insisting that what followed was consensual. this is the first time he's been criminally charged. and cosby is being held on a million dollars bond. he's scheduled to be back here in court in two weeks and could face up to a decade in prison if he's convicted. >> ashlea: he's due back in court on january 14th. i was just worried that the water would continue to rise quickly.
