attorney, fernando benitez, is trying to keep couch in mexico. alleging that the government tried to pull fast one by deporting him, not extraditing him. >> if they wanted to, they could pay him as much money as they want to to drag this thing out. >> reporter: the 18-year-old and his mother, tonya, fleeing texas after this video went viral. allegedly showing him at a boozy party in possible violation of a drunk driving penalty. the some and mother driving over 100 miles to puerto vallarta. spotted in a local butcher shop in this exclusive footage. all until mexican police, working with the u.s. marshals, caught up with mother and son last monday. >> it was a high priority for us. to make sure that we found him and got him back. >> reporter: as ethan lingers in

i-40 in haywood county. lauren brigman joins us live. one involved an 18-wheeler, i understand. >> jay, we're just up the road at the rest area, up the road from fines creek. that's the exit where the wrecks are located. it is snowing here, enough to where it's starting to lay on the ground and that was the issue around 6:20 when this wreck happened. it's at mile marker 18 heading through the gorge westbound on i-40. we have video to show you. troopers say, of course, snow is a factor in this wreck. the left lane remains closed and d.o.t. expects its open around 10:30. no o o was hurt in this accident, but the driver of the 18-wheeler lost control going through a curve and hit the wall causing the truck and car to also collide with it when it lost power so they couldn't see the tractor-trailer. there are a couple other wrecks in the area because this weather came quickly this morning around 6:00 a.a., started seeing snow in the gorge in this area. we didn't see snow until

around exit 20. if you are headed through the gorge use caution because we are seeing snow in haywood county. let's check with ingrid. >> is radar and satellite showing you where this is going to happen. if you are headed north up i-40 keep that in mind. a few light areas in our northeastern counties too. this is balsam gap, you can see the light snow starting to gather in some areas on the roadway. mount mitchell also seeing reduced visibility. 27 in the black mountains. you see the last couple frames, wait for the sun to come up right there, we start to see that light snow falling.
