>> darcel: evan, isn't there some history behind this location? >> evan: there is, darcel. actually, yeah, we're right just off of biltmore village off sweeten creek road. this is 16 shady oak drive. this is six buildings on this 1.4 acre site are going to be the home of the location of burial beer company. they used to house the civilian conservation corps. tourism in this area for such a long time. the new brewery will expand burial's ten-fold. that's the second expansion in just the past year. they had a ten barrel system at their current location at south slope. which as i mentioned is a big fan favorite for beer

they're sort of known for experimental beers. it's been the way since the brewery started about three years ago. the owner says that will expansion. >> during that time we're able experimenting. i think we can continue to do that certainly as our brewing capacity expands. >> evan: now the investment will be about $1.8 million and will create about 17 new jobs. a mix of full-time and each one of these buildings, all historic, has a purpose. here. house a brew house. the next building that you can't see, that's just going to be an office. there will be a space for maybe some other kind of themed business that goes along with burial.

though it was warmer than yesterday. the south-southeast wind didn't help as much as we we'd like. temperatures right now in terms of wind chills in the 30s. even 20s north. our temperatures will go below freezing after seven. level down to 29 at 11. i'll show you more on this warm-up that's going to take shape in to your weekend. stick around. >> darcel: some macon county residents are still cleaning up from christmas time flooding that damaged their homes as well as roads and bridges. news 13's rex hodge is live in the county's emergency services office in franklin. rex, leaders there are asking the state for help. >> yes, state emergency management workers are on there way right now to assess damages that could lead to hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

homes are damaged, five unsafe to live in. 23 private roads and bridges are damaged. two completely out with a price tag around 440,000. a request is out to north carolina emergency management for an assessment that could lead to programs to help with these costs. >> we're hopeful we have done everything possible we've accumulated enough information to at least be considered for those programs. >> you know, living by the water is a blessing and a curse. >> reporter: but wes stoops says he wouldn't have it any other way. and leaders say there's also damage to property like recreation areas and also the greenway here. if funding is provided after the state assessment, they will let folks know about application procedure. reporting live tonight from franklin, rex hodge, news 13. >> tammy: now to the latest developments out of north korea.

to whether the country actually tested a hydrogen bomb. the announcement sparked worldwide concern and condemn the results from that could take months. representative mark meadows is weighing in on the claims from north korea. we asked him if he thought the white house was responding appropriately in this situation. >> as we start to look at this, this goes well beyond the white house. but when we start to look at that whether it is on the house side or other intelligence agencies, we'll be able to monitor this and know whether indeed it's something that's factual or not. so to be critical of a white house response at this point would be inappropriate. >> tammy: meadows is also reacting on the president's reaction to gun control.

you can see we don't have rain coming down from those clouds. here come those clouds again streaming up from the south. they'll be with us this evening. this is going to slow the cooling process. we're going to bump our chances of rain up. thursday a 40% chance. that is late day after sunset. so the daylight hours tomorrow, i do not expect any rain. 60% chance on friday and saturday. saturday may likely end up being the wetter of the two days at this point. i know that's changed dramatically since monday. temperatures in the 50s and yeah, more sunshine than anything else. 50% chance of even rain mixing with some snow before it ends on sunday. don't hold your breath. this is not going to be a major

afternoon on saturday. late tomorrow night in to friday that we start to see some of those showers. notice they don't look very widespread at all. just kind of passing by as showers at best. temperatures in the 20s tonight. it will be chilly. freezing temperatures over the upstate. highs tomorrow should top out in the 50s area wide. highest elevations north will only get in the mid and upper 40s. our temperatures crash monday and tuesday next week. upper 30s for highs. 20s for lows. that may be conservative. we're going to see a major change in our temperatures by then and maybe some light snow showers returning to the mountains. in the upstate, you're chilling down from 50s to 40s next week. >> darcel: still to come.

>> tammy: sixth graders are designing and building a more durable wheelchair for a handicapped cat. they're taking the challenge step by step. >> will the material that we have to print w wh handle every day life? >> tammy: this is a problem for stem students in christopher todd's class. in the next two weeks they'll design a wheelchair for clark. clark is a shelter kitten who lost the use of his back legs. it's a big project and these sixth graders are honored they were chosen. >> the fact that he trusts sixth graders when they're the youngest in the school is like really cool that we get to do it and not like the eighth graders.
