>> wow, so weird to say half a billion dollars. that means saturday's jackpot will be a monster. so far estimated to be about $675 million, the largest lottery jackpot in u.s. history. you saw these scenes. people lined up until the last night's deadline. lottery fever. most buying multiple tickets but with the odds at about 1n 292 million, they had a better chance at becoming president of the united states. those odds by the way are just 1 in 10 million. for the record, last night's numbers were 2, 11, 47, 62, 63 and the powerball, 17. all right. so now moving on to a serious weather situation that's developing on the west coast. >> and there's so many different things they're dealing with, flooding, tornado, mudslides and swamped highways from a series of storms clobbering the coast.

some amazing images coming from southern california and the latest radar pictures showing that rain is not letting up yet. a wave of storms nearly the entire length of the state of california is marching relentlessly eastward with the heaviest rains today and the extreme southern parts of that state. well, there are widespread doubts about north korea's claim of a hydrogen bomb test. experts think it was another type of nuclear device but still has the international community upset with north korea. even china, its closest ally. more from lana zak. >> reporter: not likely a hydrogen bomb. that's the latest word from the intelligence community. this south korean lawmaker saying a hydrogen bomb should have registered at least 50 kilotons of power. >> it looks like this was more around 6 or 7 kelly tonill kilitons. >> reporter: a hydrogen bomb

we have the story breaking overnight. another automatic shutdown of china's main stock marc, the shanghai index was down more than 7%, not because of north korea, by the way but because china's central bank again devalued the currency. investors see it as another sign of problems in china's economy. u.s. stocks are set to open sharply lower in just a fewew hours. back-to-back earthquakes rattled oklahoma and nearby states last night. they were centered just south of the border with kansas and felt in that state, as well as texas. coming 30 seconds apart. both measured 4.7 and 4.8. scientists have linked seismic activity in kansas and oklahoma to underground disposal of oil drilling wastewater, a by-product of fracking. there are no reports of damage. you might say there is a growing seismic shake-up inside the republican race for the white house. donald trump for the moment is shifting his focus away from the clintons and is now turning up

if you're flying airport delays possible in l.a. understand di. phoenix, denver, minneapolis as well as new orleans. now to florida. the staff of a hospital in tallahassee is under fire for tossing out a woman who desperately needed medical attention and later died. >> 57-year-old barbara dawson was begging to stay saying she couldn't breathe. but the hospital staff who had seen her many times before didn't think anything was wrong and the police officer who led her out reportedly said she was faking it. as she collapsed t the ground in the parking lot. well, an autopsy found a blood clot in her lung. dawson's family is suing the hospital and the police department. >> repercussions in the meantime, for the texas state trooper in the middle of a controversial stop. he faces perjury charges and loss of his job accused of lying how he removed sandra bland from her car. she was found dead three days later in her jail cell.

about the health of the world's number two economy. experts don't think that was really a hydrogen bomb that north korea detonated. many other countries are angry at north korea now, even its ally, china. california facing another day of heavy rains from el nino-fueled storms. some of the heaviest rain today will be in an extreme southern part of the state around san diego, which could see another inch. and looking at today's weather everywhere else, heavy mountain snow over the rockies and a wide amount of rain with snow showers over the upper midwest. it's not rain but ice and a lot of it finally this morning as we're getting a rare view inside a frozen world many fear won't be frozen for much longer. >> this is a mission to protect the planet against the backdrop of some of the earth's most amazing landscapes. amy robach takes us there. >> reporter: the immense forbidding ice sheets of iceland.
